About this property
Beautiful and Quiet 9th century Castle in the heart of Perigord - Dordogne
Located in a beautiful part of the northern Dordogne, this spectacular château dates back to the 9th and 12th centuries. It's a true gem in a magnificent setting with beautiful extensive grounds including two boating lakes – boats provided!
The property boasts 35 hectares of magnificent land in very peaceful surroundings with five lakes which can be used for boating (two kayaks on the biggest lake provided), fishing (pontoon and kayaks provided) and swimming. The largest lake covers 3 hectares. There are wonderful views from the Château beyond its grounds towards forests and hills, and a pleasant terrace under a shady arbor by the swimming pool. Meals can be taken here or at a terrace at the back of the house.
The caretakers live on the property grounds beyond the gates of the château. They'll help you if you have any problem.
There are two entrances to the Château. One is at garden level which comprises the dining room and the kitchen. The other is at ground level next to the pool; a hallway with a stunning stone spiral staircase (children and elderly persons must take care) leads to a very large living room with beautiful stone floors, original beams and two fireplaces. On this floor there are also a sitting room, a library with comfortable seating and a shower room with a wc.
On the first floor are two double bedrooms (one with a 160 cm bed and one with a 140 cm bed), one with a single bed (80 cm) for a child, each with an en suite bathroom with a wc. On the second floor is the children's area with a twin bedroom (one bed is 110 cm bed and the other a 90 cm bed), a double bedroom (140 cm bed), a playroom on the landing with a single bed (80 cm), and a shower room with a wc.
Annexe 1 is located close to the Château and consists of a large single bedroom (130cm bed) at ground level with steps up to a double bedroom (140 cm bed) on a mezzanine which overlooks a living area, and a shower room with a wc. Annexe 2 is at the entrance of the building complex, 50 m from the Château; it has a living area with a single sofa bed, a double bedroom (160 cm bed) on a mezzanine and a shower room with a wc under the stairs.
Occupancy is limited to 10 adults and 6 children
The standard of accommodation in the Château is higher than in the Annexes.

They will have access to the 40 hectares of forest, ponds and beautiful landscapes all around the castle. There are also a private tennis court and a public golf at 21km. Somebody also takes care of the swimming-pool.
The owner of the house will welcome you and explain you all the story of this incredible place. Moreover, there are two caretakers that will help you for everything you need.

An historic chateau in Perigord.
This beautiful chateau has really good communal area, lovely salon, cinema room and library with pool table all of which we enjoyed. The outside is well thought out with several shaded dining tables and a good swimming pool. We enjoyed cycling around the vast grounds on bikes provided and boating on the private lakes. We also played a bit of tennis, although the clay court is a "little tired" we still enjoyed it.
The bedrooms have received a designers touch and all look lovely, the shower rooms are adequate for purpose.
The area is interesting, we enjoyed visiting Nontron about 10 minutes away to shop. They had their knife festival on whilst we were there, to see so many artisans demonstrating their art a surprise. We mainly ate in with BBQ's by the pool but went to lunch one day at Domaine des Etangs, about half hour away, a truly memorable experience, wonderful food in a magnificent setting. We will be back to both chateau and restaurant.
A very enjoyable and successful visit, helped by attentive family and staff.
