Stillwater River Lodge is a new (2023) custom-built Mountain Modern Lodge in the heart of Flathead Valley. It was professionally designed from the ground up to be a gathering place for families and friends to unite in fellowship. It's the base camp for all your mountain adventures. Enjoy a hike in Glacier National Park, a dip in Whitefish Lake, or ski a trail down Big Mountain at Whitefish Mountain Resort! Each new season brings new adventures! Don't miss your opportunity to Experience Montana!

The lodge sits on 2.5 acres and features over 250 feet of Stillwater River frontage. The private backyard gently slopes down to the river and includes a spacious grassy area for gathering around the fire pit, playing games, or staring at the stars. Large trees line the far side of the riverbank creating a private oasis in the backyard.

The lodge was professionally designed and features designer furnishing from Four Hands, Pottery Barn, Arhaus, West Elm & more. The spacious open living room is highlighted by a floor to ceiling metal fireplace on one end and a magnificent chef’s kitchen on the other. Gather ‘round the fireplace, dining table, or oversized kitchen island as you mingle and connect with friends or family.

The front of the lodge features floor to ceiling windows with views of Glacier National Park in the distance overlooking pristine Montana farmland.

The back patio doors lead to covered patio with an amazing outdoor kitchen and place to relax and enjoy the outdoors!

A fully stocked chef's kitchen includes everything you need to cook for a large group. It features professional grade kitchen appliances and small appliances for nearly every task! We’ve included everything you need to prepare anything from a light meal to a full Christmas dinner! Check out our photos or guidebook for a full list.

The professional grade Miele coffee station makes coffee and espresso-based beverages at the touch of a button!

The outdoor kitchen features a large gas grill and top of the line dual fuel Italian Pizza Oven! Wow your family with amazing wood-fired pizzas!

Dining is available at our spacious dining table, kitchen island or outdoor dining area.

With 5 bedroom suites, plus a bunk room, you’re sure to find the one that’s "just right" for you!
1. The primary master suite is on the north end of the main floor and features views to the north of Big Mountain and Whitefish Mountain Resort. It’s the most spacious room in the house and includes a king bed with a luxury hospitality mattress and linens. Two luxurious leather chairs sit in front of the cozy fireplace. A smart TV hangs above the fireplace. The attached ensuite bath includes a spacious walk-in shower with 2 shower heads plus a rain-head shower and a luxurious soaking tub and two vanities.
2. The 2nd master suite is also on the main floor on the south end of the home and is designed as a fully independent living space. It features a private entrance, porch, and patio area. The bedroom includes a king bed with a luxury hospitality mattress and linens. Two luxurious leather chairs sit in front of the cozy fireplace. A smart Roku TV hangs above the fireplace. The attached ensuite bathroom includes a walk-in shower with optional rain-head, a soaking tub and spacious vanity. A washer and dryer is included in this living space.
3. Bedroom #3 is on the main floor and offers sweeping views of the backyard toward the Stillwater River. It includes a king bed with a luxury hospitality mattress and linens. A bathroom is available directly across the hallway from this space and included a walk-in shower and vanity.
4. Bedroom #4 is located downstairs and includes a queen bed with a luxury hospitality mattress and linens. It includes an ensuite bathroom with walk-in shower and is also open to the hallway for the bunk room occupants.
5. Bedroom #5 is located downstairs and includes a king bed with a luxury hospitality mattress and linens. It includes a private ensuite bathroom with walk-in shower.
6. Bunk Room – The bunk room is located downstairs and includes 2 sets of triple bunk beds for a total of 6 twin beds. It’s great for kids but is not recommended for adults. This room features a rolling garage style door that opens to the backyard.

☆☆ Lower Living Area ☆☆

The lower-level living space features the 4th fireplace in the home and includes a sitting area and Smart TV. It’s set up with several desks that are great place to catch up with work or school. The large standing workstation is great for projects like scrapbooks, crafts, games, or puzzles. This room has a large patio door that opens to the lower outdoor patio and backyard.

Stillwater River Lodge is conveniently located in the middle of the Flathead Valley. From the lodge you can easily access Glacier National Park, Whitefish Mountain Resort, lakes, rivers, mountains and more.

☆☆ CLEANING FEE ☆☆

The only fee we charge is a cleaning fee. This fee goes directly to the family that cleans the property between each stay and is designed to be a Fair Living Wage. Between each stay the property is thoroughly cleaned and sanitized, and all towels and linens are replaced with fresh clean towels/linens that have been freshly laundered.

Parking is readily available in the garage or driveway. A trailer can also be accommodated upon request.

Family Ski Trip & Mother's 70th Birthday

We had a wonderful stay and would absolutely book again. The home was spotless, beautifully decorated, and exactly as described in the listing. The beds were incredibly comfortable, and the kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed—and more. Our family of 15 had an amazing time making pizzas in the pizza oven, cooking together, playing games, and celebrating the New Year. The location was perfect—quiet, yet close to ski lifts, restaurants, and shops. The host was extremely responsive and made check-in seamless. We highly recommend this home for anyone visiting the area in both winter and summer. I can’t say enough great things about this place—it’s truly wonderful!

Stillwater River Lodge was the perfect location for our family & friends to witness our son marry his best friend! Perfect Winter Getaway – Luxurious Mountain Modern Lodge!

We stayed at Stillwater River Lodge in February 2026 with a group of 12 (family and friends) and it exceeded every expectation! This stunning 6-bedroom waterfront home feels brand new and impeccably designed in that sleek mountain modern style—clean lines, high-end finishes, huge windows letting in tons of natural light (and epic snowy mountain views). The space was ideal for our large group: plenty of room to spread out, multiple living areas, a fully equipped kitchen that made cooking meals easy (and the island is perfect for gathering), and 5 bathrooms meant no waiting around in the mornings. The hot tub was an absolute highlight—nothing beats soaking under the stars with snow falling and the river nearby after a day exploring nearby trails or heading toward Glacier National Park (which was surprisingly accessible even in winter conditions). Everything was spotless upon arrival, the WiFi was strong, and little touches like the comfortable beds/linens and pet-friendly policy (we brought our dog) made it feel like home. The location in Flathead Valley is convenient—quick drive to amenities in Kalispell, and not too far from Whitefish for skiing or other winter fun. If you're looking for a luxurious, spacious Montana escape that combines modern comfort with that classic mountain lodge vibe, this place is it. We can't wait to come back—highly recommend! 5 stars all the way.

Perfect Montana Getaway for Family Ski Trip

We had an unforgettable family reunion at Stillwater River Lodge, and it exceeded every expectation for our group of 16 spanning three generations! From the moment we arrived, the stunning architecture and spacious layout made it feel like a true luxury retreat—perfect for gathering in the open-concept living areas, cooking up feasts in the fully stocked dream kitchen (complete with that amazing coffee machine and milkshake maker that were huge hits with the kids), and relaxing on the patio with breathtaking views of the river, wildlife like deer and eagles, and those epic Montana sunsets. The location couldn't be better: centrally situated for day trips to Glacier National Park, Whitefish, and Flathead Lake, with easy access to the airport, Costco, and even local spots for outdoor adventures. We loved how thoughtful touches like the multiple washers/dryers, boot dryers in the mudroom, and abundant hooks/racks made organizing our ski gear and layers a breeze—plenty of storage options throughout, and we never felt cluttered despite the winter packing. Hot water was endless for our group, even with everyone showering after hikes, and the private bathrooms in each suite added that extra level of comfort. The family photos around the house actually gave it a warm, personal vibe that made us feel right at home, like we were staying with friends rather than in a sterile rental. Communication with the hosts was top-notch, prompt, and welcoming from booking to checkout. If you're looking for a beautiful, well-cared-for spot for a large group vacation, this is it—five stars all around, and we'd book again in a heartbeat!

Loved the coffee machine!!! We appreciated the chocolate chip cookies and goodies. The kitchen is a cook’s dream with space and tons of dishes and cooking utensils. We used the bbq which was great. There is nothing to say but the place is fantastic. It had everything you could think of, including coffee, coolers, backpacks, games (indoor and outdoor). Reuniting Family and Enjoying The Crown Jewel of National Parks, Glacier.

Home is architecturallybeautiful. Offers plenty of room for Family of 11 or more from 4 months old to Senior Citizen with no curb showers, first floor ranch, open concept floor plan design and three sets of washer and drier! Sunrises and sunsets were breathtaking. Logistically located to so many outdoor activities, fitness center, grocery and general merchandise needs, Glacier National Airport and various religious institutions for worship. Our Family has traveled all over the world and overall our Family rated this vacation as one of the very best ever especially having The Road to The Sun in Glacier National Park as a top destination for all to see a stunning mountain landscape, waterfalls, Grizzly Bear, Mountain Goats and babies, Rams and a Bald Eagle all in one day! Logan Pass Trail was an unforgettable lifetime memory.

5/5 Stars – Magical Winter Wonderland Stay at Stillwater River Lodge!

We spent an unforgettable January week at Stillwater River Lodge, and it was pure Montana magic in the winter! This stunning mountain-modern waterfront home was the perfect cozy retreat during the cold months—spacious, impeccably clean, and loaded with everything we needed to stay warm and relaxed after our snowy adventures. The house is massive (6 bedrooms/5 baths, slept our group of 12 comfortably) with huge windows framing breathtaking views of the snow-covered Stillwater River and surrounding mountains right from the living room. We loved curling up by the fire (or just enjoying the toasty indoor heat) while watching snow fall gently outside—it felt like a luxury cabin straight out of a dream. The gourmet kitchen was fully stocked and made whipping up hearty winter meals easy, and the beds/linens were plush and warm. Highlights for winter: The private hot tub was absolute heaven after chilly days out—steaming under the stars with snow all around us was unbeatable! The outdoor fire pit (bundled up with blankets) became our evening ritual for hot cocoa and stargazing. Everything stayed comfortable and inviting indoors, no matter how cold it got outside. Location was ideal for January fun: Just a short drive to Whitefish Mountain Resort for incredible skiing/snowboarding, easy access to groomed trails for snowshoeing or cross-country skiing, and even some peaceful winter walks along the river or nearby spots. Glacier National Park's lower elevations offered gorgeous snowy scenery (we did some easy snowshoeing near the edges), and the whole area felt peaceful with far fewer crowds than summer. Amazing Winter Stay

Stillwater River Lodge is absolutely AMAZING! It was perfect for our group of friends to gather and explore the Flathead Valley. The lodge had everything that the needed during our stay. The kitchen was very well stocked. We loved making homemade pizzas in the Wood Fired Pizza Oven! All of the beds were clean and cozy. The location was terrific too. Downtown Whitefish is a gorgeous hallmark town in the winter and is only about 10 minutes away. John & Jenn were great host and provided everything we needed for a wonderful stay. I can't wait to come back in the summer!

Winter Break

We had a fantastic stay at Stillwater River Lodge during our winter break. The lodge was well-stocked and rooms were all very comfy. It was so nice having multiple fireplaces in the living rooms and bedrooms. Everyone loved the automatic coffee machine that made lattes and hot chocolates with the touch of a button. We enjoyed skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, and sledding during our stay. It was nice being so close to everything. The hosts were very responsive and provided a digital guidebook with lots of helpful info about the lodge and local area. We'll definitely be back!

Beautiful Home, But Important Practical Gaps for Family vacationers We stayed here as a large family group in the winter, and the home itself is beautiful, spacious, and clearly well cared for. The layout is wonderful for gathering, and it’s clear the owners have put a lot of love into the property.That said, given the premium price point and that this is marketed as a large family ski home, there were some practical issues that significantly impacted our stay and would be important for future renters to know.Most notably, there were no usable closets, dressers, or wardrobes in any bedroom. Every closet in the home was locked as an owner’s closet, including in the primary bedroom, and there were no dressers provided. In winter, when everyone has ski gear, heavy clothing, boots, and layers, this made it very difficult to settle in and live comfortably for the week. The rooms are generously sized and could easily accommodate dressers or standing wardrobes, which would make a huge difference.Additionally, the water heater appeared undersized for a home sleeping 12. We frequently ran out of hot water, which meant cold showers in the middle of winter, and the beautiful soaking tubs were essentially unusable. For a large group home at this level, reliable hot water is essential.A few smaller but notable items:•No garbage disposal in the kitchen•Very large family photos displayed prominently throughout the home, which felt a bit unusual when renting the property at t

Perfect Christmas

The lodge was absolutely amazing for our Christmas vacation! We loved that it was beautifully decorated and made us feel right at home over the holidays. We really like the 3 bedrooms for the adult couples on main floor and that the kids all stayed downstairs and had plenty of space for themselves. The lodge was very well appointed and had everything we needed during our stay. The kitchen and pantry were fully stocked with everything we needed for a Christmas dinner. It was great to have a Costco and grocery store 5 minutes away too. We had a blast skiing at Whitefish, sledding at the local park, and snoeshoeing in Glacier. We really appreciated the hosts sharing their list of favorite activities too. We can't wait to come back!

Awesome Lodge

The lodge exceeded our expectations! It was everything the photos showed and more! There was plenty of room for our extended family gathering. The property was clean and well stocked with all of the little things that you don't want to buy for a short trip. We really appreciated the cooking basics in the pantry. The kids loved the hot tub and the adults enjoyed evenings outside by the firepit. The location was a perfect balance of the quietness in the country, yet close to amenities, restaurants, Glacier National Park & Whitefish. Meal time was a breeze. The guys cooked outside on the grill and the ladies appreciated all the kitchen appliances & cooking supplies inside. Clean up was easy with the large farmhouse sink and two dishwashers. We loved our stay at Stillwater River Lodge and can't wait to come back!
