About this property
Downtown Renovated Beauty
Come and enjoy this historic home with stunning modern design in the heart of Sherman Hill! Built in 1880, this renovated gem has 3 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms. It's just a few minutes walk to downtown Des Moines, bars and restaurants.
The designer kitchen is fully equipped for your culinary adventures with plenty of seating inside and out. The whole family can enjoy our fenced in back yard with outdoor tables and play-set.
The space
Each bedroom has a nova foam mattress. Two of the bedrooms have queen beds and the master bedroom with an en suite bathroom has a king.
Two bedrooms are located upstairs. There is one bedroom and one bathroom on the main floor.
The basement is unfinished with a washer and dryer.
Laundry detergent, dish soap, toilet paper, tissues, shampoo, conditioner and body wash are provided.
If you are traveling with small children we can provide a pack‘n play, high chair, children’s cups, dishes and utensils as well as toys.
If you are here in the winter, we are happy to come by and teach you how to use the gas fireplace as the older style can be confusing and we want you to be safe.
Guest access
During your stay you will have the entire house to yourself.
We will give you your own unique passcode for the Nest lock on the back door close to the garage.
You will also have access to one bay of the garage- we do use the other bay, the garage is not attached to the house.

About the host
Hosted by Mariah Britt

My husband Wade love eating and drinking our way around the world with our kids. We have both traveled extensively and lived abroad for years.
We currently reside in Des Moines, Iowa, just down the street this house! We moved into the Downtown Renovated Beauty for a year while we furnished and decorated it to make sure it had everything we would want while traveling.
We put a lot of focus on comfortable beds and lounge areas, a stocked kitchen because we love cooking, and things to keep kids happy while traveling. We also loved the giant sofa so much, we bought another one for our house!

Why they chose this property
Our historic neighborhood, Sherman Hill, is charming and full of character! We love being able to walk to the heart of town in 20 minutes. Even closer, we have several restaurants & bars, a playground and a grocery store you can reach 10 minutes or less on foot (unless you have a toddler that is easily distracted on walks).
There is easy access to public transport with bus stops throughout the neighborhood.

What makes this property unique
This home was built in 1880, and fortunately for us, owned by a designer before us who made the house look stunning inside and out! We lived in the house for a year while furnishing and decorating it to ensure it would make travelers feel at home and comfortable.
One thing we miss most from living in this house is the delicious filtered drinking water out of the left tap in the kitchen. We have a fenced in back yard to give you privacy, and keep your kids or fury friends safe.
Wade and I live just down the street, and are happy to help if you need anything during your stay.
