About this property

Tropical haven in Barbados

Ancient Grove

A beautiful Balinese style 4 Bedroom Villa in an incredible setting surrounded by tropical landscaped gardens and a 30' infinity pool overlooking the ocean. The villa blends naturally into the outside world with many balconies to create an unforgettable Caribbean experience.

Ancient Grove is located in a unique setting perched above an ancient gully. Guests will be immersed in a lush environment surrounded by songbirds and stunning views.

A quiet comfortable stay, with all the luxuries of home but the experience of living within a tropical jungle.

For your comfort, all the bedrooms are equipped with carefully selected linens, pillows, and towels. And 3 of the bedrooms are cooled with AC for your comfort.

The dining room is set up to accommodate a spacious 6-10 person meal. The comfortable indoor and outdoor living rooms will each easily seat 8.

The 30-foot infinity pool, pool deck, lounge chairs, lush tropical landscape, and shaded gazebo are there for your enjoyment. The pool is only shared with one other villa on the other side of the property.

The home is available for its guests exclusively. Our villa manager Georgia will be there to meet you when you arrive, show you around and answer any questions you might have.

Ancient Grove is perfectly located on the West Coast of Barbados within a 5-minute drive to some of the world's best beaches, restaurants and shopping.

Speightstown, a five-minute drive away is a lively little fishing town with local and world-class dining options. As well as banks, a supermarket, pharmacy, shopping, and fish market.

Pristine white sand beaches fully equipped with lounge chairs and water sport options are within a 5-8 minute drive.

Because there is so much to see and do in Barbados we highly recommend hiring a car so that your experience here is optimized. However if you prefer we can recommend a reliable taxi or chauffeur service.
Your villa includes three private car parking spaces.

Ancient grove is a short drive away from three championship golf courses; Royal Westmoreland, Sandy Lane Green Monkey, and Apes hill as well as polo and tennis clubs.

At Ancient Grove, our intention is to make our guests experience as special as possible and we are happy to arrange to have the home stocked with your favorite wines prior to arrival as well as a private chef to prepare meals ($)

Therapeutic massages in the gazebo or your private room have a long history at the villa and always an option within 48-hour notice.($)

For large groups that require more space please consider also renting Ancient Grove One which is located on the other side of the property, which will give you exclusive access to the whole property and 5 additional bedrooms, which is ideal for wedding parties, family vacations, or any larger function.(please contact us about booking both houses)

Jungle, nature and mountain view
Wonderful retreat from the hot and humid coastline. Withdrawn spacious villa with a charming garden. We'll miss it....

Amazing
It's hard to describe ... but the house and setting are truly amazing. The house is well designed -- a sense of openness when inside -- great common space both inside and outside -- and -- quiet bedrooms; nice baths. The VRBO pictures don't lie. Ancient Grove also is well situated -- close to Speightstown and Holetown. Natalie and Patrick were very helpful in getting us oriented to the house and general directions. And, we had Richard White cook two meals -- first night and last -- each was terrific as is he. We were a group of 7 and each of us felt the same about our experience. Our only regret is that we wished we had more time in Barbados! We would not hesitate to recommend this home to other travelers seeking a quiet, beautiful spot close to lots of activity.

Tropical paradise.
Beautiful villa set in beautiful surroundings. Was ideal for our group of adults. The rooms were cooled by the trade winds so no need for air conditioning at all. Most of the rooms were light and airy. One of the downstairs bedrooms was a little disappointing compared to the other bedrooms. Also, the grounds are definitely not child friendly. There are 2 villas on the grounds so the pool is shared. Felt there ought to have been more loungers even though there are other places to sit such as the hammocks and the swinging chairs in the trees. Would definitely stay here again and again.

2/10 Terrible

Spacious villa, but not a tranquil location and has issues
We stayed in Villa 2 (there are two large detached villas on this wooded site). Both villas offer a good degree of privacy, are spacious, and tastefully furnished inside. The beds were comfortable. However, unfortunately that's where the positives end. There were some major drawbacks which were not immediately apparent until we spent a night there. Extremely noisy skip trucks and cars frequently beep very loudly as they pass by on the road - in close proximity to both these villas. Our neighbours in Villa 1 expressed similar dissatisfaction about this. Dogs also barking for long periods every night nearby - so bring ear muffs! Security on the villa doors needs urgent attention as most shutter pins were missing and some exterior door handles were broken. We had to makeshift ways to close all the shutters at night to feel secure, and to prevent cool winds and bright garden lighting keeping us awake at night. Only 2 sun loungers by the pool to share between 2 family-sized villas! and no relaxation chairs exist in the communal gazebo (therefore this is misrepresented on HomeAway photos). No comfortable lie-back chairs on Villa 2 veranda - a point I raised with the owner but she did not seem to comprehend my point. Villa 1 outdoor chairs are different and comfortable. A small but irritating fact - you have to pay extra to watch the TV here! Finally, rodent traps right beside the bed in Villa 2 were not the most welcome sight! So overall, unfortunately this villa was a disappointment for us compared to other properties we have stayed in on the island.

Hi, my name is Brian, I am originally from Montreal, but lived in Barbados for 5 years during which I fulfilled a lifelong dream of building two wonderful homes and living in the Caribbean. I own a renovations company and enjoy architecture and design. I am an avid traveller and love to discover new places and have new experiences.

Why they chose this property

I designed and built this property because I was inspired by the majestic beauty of the land on which we chose to build.

What makes this property unique

The house has the luxury of a constant breeze keeping you cool day and night. The outdoor living is truly special and allows for much of your time to be spent outside enjoying the beautiful view in total comfort.
