Newly Updated Island Home - Walking distance to the beach. Kid Friendly!
Come enjoy our relaxing getaway situated in Jamestown on Conanicut Island which is a short drive (or foot ferry) to Newport or Narragansett activities and beaches. The house was build on the 1890s and has been in our family for five generations. It has been lovingly updated with a modern kitchen, a small full bathroom, and open floor plan downstairs. Three bedrooms, each with window AC units, are upstairs with new beds and bedding. The kids room has two twin beds plus a full size crib. The master has a king bed and the guest room has a queen bed. If you turn off the AC and open the windows you can hear the fog horn from Beavertail lighthouse on foggy nights. The house has a sunny front porch with a table perfect for boardgames, cards, puzzles and art projects. The house is a short walk to the local beach, Mackerel Cove, the nautical playground (with an amazing bakery across the street) and the shops and restaurants downtown. Our boys love the Jamestown Fire Department Museum to see the antique fire trucks. The island offers a peaceful getaway. There are several working farms, which give the town a laid back rural feel, with all the culture of Newport and the big beaches of both Newport and Narragansett just a bridge away. While we are delighted to share our family home with our renters, we do not permit gatherings at the home. We do this out of respect for our quiet neighborhood and to preserve our family home.

Convenient location, walkable to the beach, in town cafes and restaurants, Newport Ferry and the grocery store. Great communication with host. Very clean and comfortable.
We had a wonderful vacation in Jamestown!! Check in was super easy, home was spotless, beds were comfy and the kitchen had everything we needed to do a lot of our meals at the house. We love being right in the village when we visit Jamestown and this was a fantastic village location. We could easily walk to the beach which makes a beach trip much easier! We love this town and would stay at this sweet cottage again!
The property was exactly as described. Convenient to walk downtown or the the beach. The host checked in on us to make sure everything was as expected which was very nice.
We lived our stay in Jamestown. The house was in a great location where we could walk to the local beach to breath in some ocean air or walk to the downtown shops and restaurants. Lisa was a great host and was very responsive leading up to our stay. We would definitely stay again.
We stayed four nights to see family. Great home, comfy beds, clean, and centrally located between the main area of Jamestown and Mackerel Cove and grocery store just down the street.
Beautiful home and location. Well kept older home with many modern touches. We could walk to the beach, grocery and liquor store, and be in Newport in 10 minutes. The owners were very responsive at all hours of the day and night. We would definitely stay again. Thank you!!
We really enjoyed our week. The home was just like the pictures. We were able to walk to the beach, spend time at Beavertail State Park and visit Newport. Thanks for letting us stay in your charming home!
We rented the Island Home to accommodate extended family for a week in Jamestown in August. The location is ideal and the house was perfect for us. Lisa was an exceptional host - available to answer all of our questions. We would rent this house again.
We were looking for something last minute and stumbled across this. As a family, that's never been to Jamestown we were so pleasantly surprised. Everything you can do is about a half a mile from this house and it was perfect for a little kids. The house was incredibly clean and updated and Lisa was a great host and would respond almost immediately to any question I had. We would love to stay again!!
This is a nicely kept up/redone older cottage style house with a cozy vibe and updated kitchen. It was sparkling clean and is in a lovely, quiet neighborhood near the water. The owners are responsive and were able to immediately fix a glitch we had with the door code on check-in. We were a family group of four adults and the house suited us well, though it was a blustery weekend and we didn't get to enjoy the beach or the sunny porch. Make sure everyone in your party is good sharing a downstairs bathroom, and be aware the stairs to the bedrooms are a bit steep for anyone with wobbly knees. And be sure to explore beautiful Jamestown!
“I recently had the pleasure of staying at 73 Southwest Ave in Jamestown, RI, with my children and grandson, and it was nothing short of exceptional. The house is a haven for families, especially those with toddlers, featuring a crib and an abundance of toys and games that kept both kids and adults entertained. The expansive yard was perfect for grilling and outdoor activities.
Inside, the home boasts brand-new appliances and modern interior finishes, enhancing our overall experience. The neighborhood is charming, offering attractions like the firehouse museum, a massive playground, and a variety of delightful restaurants, shops, and bakeries. The house is ideally situated between the quaint town and a picturesque beach cove, making it the perfect spot for exploring all that Jamestown has to offer.
The air conditioning in the house was a lifesaver, providing much-needed relief during the warmer days. Lisa and Steve, the hosts, were incredibly nice and responsive, ensuring our stay was smooth and enjoyable. We can't wait to return to this gem of a property soon!”
Cozy little cottage in a great location in Jamestown- walking distance to the beach, ice cream shop, grocery store, liquor store, library, playground, etc. House is situated on a major road however so the master bedroom hears lots of traffic, even at night/early morning. Comfy bed in the Master! The big yard was awesome for the kids to play and run. Picnic table in yard. One small bathroom made it a little tough for a family of 5. There isn’t an exhaust fan either but we used a window fan to help keep it fresher and remove moisture due to showering. Wish there were an outdoor shower. Big kitchen but not stocked for cooking so bring your spices and staples. We found a few cleaning issues that needed addressing and the property owners appreciated the information. There’s only 1 small tv in the living room (no bedroom tvs) but there’s books, games, puzzles and toys for little kids. The front porch is absolutely lovely for morning coffee and meals. The windows open for a refreshing breeze that comes into the living room. There is a clothesline that pulls across it to hang up Bathing suits and towels after a day at the beach. Bushes and trees provide nice privacy from the busy street. Loved having beach chairs so we didn’t have to pack them.Make sure you explore Beavertail lighthouse rock hopping with the best vistas, Fort Weatherill coves and Heads Beach for awesome sunsets. Great food options right there in Jamestown! Great location for exploring Newport & Narragansett areas.
