We had a great stay - it is a beautiful location. Close to town but still so peaceful and relaxing. Thank you for all the details - walking trails, restaurants and sights worth visiting from Aix.
This was a perfect place for a couple to stay. Private, but the owners, who are lovely, are available should you need anything. The grounds, with pool and tennis court (which we took full advantage of), are gorgeous. Convenient both to downtown Aix and to the highway. Would definitely stay there again.
We were warmly welcomed by our hosts and provided with a range of very helpful information regarding local attractions and amenities. Would love to have stayed longer if time permitted.

Great Experience in Aix
Great apartment attached to home a few minutes by car from Aix en Provence. Family is lovely and friendly and went out of their way to assist in any way they could. Great location to travel by car from for a weeks stay.

All the best to you both,

Our lovely hosts, Rachel & Jean, couldn’t have been more welcoming and we enjoyed our stay at our cottage. Location was perfect for us as we were visiting friends in the Luberon so easy access as well as being close to Aix where we could walk (30 minutes) or drive down to enjoy the town. Very restful property with lovely gardens & pool.
We had such an enjoyable and wonderful stay! The self contained house/apartment had everything we needed in it and Rachel and Jean went out of their way in their communication beforehand and during our stay to make us feel welcome at theirs. Thank you so much for having us and being so welcoming! Merci!
Rachel and Jean were warm and welcoming hosts. We wish we could have stayed longer.
The apartment in the back of the house was perfect for us. Setting was beautiful and tranquil. Location was a great "jumping off" point. Hosts were extremely gracious, and very helpful to two frazzled jet lagged travelers. Only downside is that it is somewhat hard to find the first time. We would highly recommend the lovely house and hosts.

Beautiful location. Probably would be easier with a car but we managed just fine without one. Could walk everywhere. Pool was a nice plus at the end of the day. Family was very enjoyable. Loved Aix and would love to visit again.

We absolutely LOVED our stay with Rachel and Jean. They could not have been more welcoming or accommodating. Nothing was too big an ask and they were on hand at all times! The accommodation is lovely and perfect for a small family. The addition of Badger the golden retriever was a VERY welcome one in the mornings :) we would whole heartedly recommend this listing and hope to be back soon :D thank you both so much for making our first holiday with C such a memorable one x x

Thank you so much for your lovely review . It was such a pleasure to welcome your lovely family and I’m so pleased that Badger was able to entertain your daughter ! Please do come back and see us again soon …
We had a wonderful vacation, staying at the property of the lovely couple Rachel and Jean. They both made us feel very welcome and they made our vacation something really extra. They also gave us a lot of suggestions what to do and where to go in the area. We didn´t even have to miss our dog too much as we quickly got a new friend in Budger-the -golden -retriever. We highly recommend this place and we would love to come back another year. Next time we will bring one of our grown up children as there were plenty of space for three persons in the appartment.
Stayed for three nights in May 2023. We arrived late with a car sick baby and Rachel and Jean couldn't have been more welcoming, understanding and helpful. They immediately grabbed our cases and put on a wash for us (more than once!)
The property is a short walk - 15 mins or so - into town and Aix itself is beautiful, plenty of bars, cafes and shops to keep you entertained.
Rachel & Jean were attentive throughout and very helpful, and Badger (their lovely dog) helped look after our baby.
Highly recommend!

Cozy Country Splendor & Hilltop Views Above Aix-en-Pce
We had such a delightful family visit here that we cannot wait to return for a relaxing Aix vacation. You'll love the grounds, views, and swimming pool so much that you won't need to be inside before bedtime unless it is a chilly Aix evening. Inside is cozy, compact, and perfectly clean. Host family who live adjacent are utterly charming and delightful. Perched above the city you have great nearby strolls and amazing views of Aix below. It's a quick drive (or longer but enjoyable hike) into the city. If driving, Parc Bellegarde and Parc Pasteur offer reasonable parking rates since the city has pedestrianized. Marius Bakery nearby is magnifique! So, too, is this property - one of the best we've enjoyed in our many VRBO rentals. Warm thanks to our host family, we look forward to our next (longer!) stay with you.

Extra Special in Aix
My husband and I stayed in the cottage on our first visit to Provence in early September 2011. It was the perfect place to get away from the bustle of the city and/or relax after exploratory day-trips by car. It is secluded on the gated property of a private estate, is safe, quiet, clean and comfortable. The kitchen was adequate for preparing simple meals. The pool and Weber grill were great bonuses made available by the owners who also provided an up-to-date collection of maps, guides, attractions and local restaurants. The owners were on site and generously informative when we requested but unobtrusive in respect to our privacy. We would return to the cottage in a heartbeat.

Unsatisfactory
We booked 3 nights at this location. Rachel was very helpful and friendly. Unfortunately the property did not meet what we consider to be acceptable standard for accommodations. The white towels were grey, thin, and hard. When we looked at the mattress in the single bedroom as one does nowadays, the mattress had several stains. We expected better. The living area is tiny. You need a car here since the house is only accessible via an unlit long road. There is no doubt that Rachel is gracious and helpful in the extreme, but to us the conditions of the bedding, towels, and shower area were uninviting and unpleasant. We checked in around 7 pm, and left by 10 pm having to scramble for last minute accommodation. Unfortunately they have refused to give any refund.

Dear Amanda,
From the moment you arrived with your sister you were disappointed that the accommodation was not in Aix. Indeed with 3 acres of land a pool and a tennis court our guests choose to come here to have a peaceful stay close to Aix. Most people do indeed come by car. I ordered a taxi for you from the station and did everything I could to make you welcome. I drove you into Aix for your dinner. and waited for your phonecall to come and pick you up after dinner and offered to drive you to the other side of Aix for your 9am start for your visit to the Luberon the next day and prepare you breakfast for you as it was your first day. When I drove you into Aix you made no mention of your dissatisfaction and we had a very nice chat .
I waited until 11pm for your phonecall to come and pick you up after dinner as planned and so I sent you a message to which you responded that you had come back taken your bags and left to go and stay somewhere else and that you had left the house keys on the wall next to the gate!!. I do not understand why you were unable to talk to me directly and we could have come to an arrangement . Clearly you had not checked on google as to the location of the house. . In the messages before booking I did explain that the house was a 20 minute walk from Aix. Generally guests check the location on google before coming. Obviously if you want to be in Aix and don't like walking this is not the place for you. Indeed choosing to go on a guided tour on the other side of Aix at 9 am was unreasonable. I am not sure how white towels can discolour but if you were unhappy with the towels it would have been so easy to change them . I suggest that next time you book accommodation that you check the precise location. With regards to the refund I feel that your request is unjust. I find it hard to understand why you were unable to communicate with us rather than just leaving and sending us a message at 11pm when we had stayed up to come and pick you up. In the last 12 years we have never had a complaint about bedding or towels and do everything to make sure that the stay is as comfortable as possible and that our guests, many who return year after year ,are happy and satisfied. The cottage also needed to be recleaned after you left as you had obviously used the beds and the bathroom.
The house and the garden are very wonderful. Rahel and her husband are very friendly. They were so helpful. Thanks a lot for everything and our kids loved the dog.
We really would like to come back.
We had such an amazing time here! The rental was super clean and comfortable, and the property is gorgeous. The hosts were very accommodating and we definitely hope to be back!
The owners were welcoming, supportive and generous, a bottle of wine and rescue from our ill-fated search for food the first night. The yard and pool were great for lounging in the heat of the evening as the interior is not air conditioned. Windows and fans helped cool the unit down, but screens on the windows would have reduced the intrusion of bugs. Through constant use of gps we became able to navigate to downtown parking in Aix and to explore the region. The lavender was in full bloom on the Valensole plateau and the small towns in the region were well worth the visit.

About the host
Hosted by Rachel Bizot
My french husband and I and our 4 children moved to Aix en Provence from Oxford UK in 2010. We absolutely love it here and will be delighted to fill you in on everything this beautiful area has to offer. Waking up to blue sky and sunshine is a definite plus! Aix en Provence is a beautiful city within walking distance and yet the cottage and bastide are set in 3 acres of garden so one immediately feels on holiday!
Why they chose this property
This is our home and we are delighted to rent out our cottage and share the delights of the region with visitors . We love meeting new people from around the world and are very happy to help make your stay as enjoyable as possible. I am very happy to arrange language lessons, cookery demonstrations, guided tours.
What makes this property unique
The setting is rare so close to Aix and the views are beautiful . There is a boules for you to enjoy like the locals! The large saltwater pool is generally in use from April onwards. The convenience of the location. During busier months it is wonderful not to have to worry about taking a car in to Aix and access to the motorway is easy for visiting the rest of the area.
