Relax on the sunny deck, walk along West Cliff Drive and fall asleep at night to the sound of crashing waves. Cowells Surfside is a clean, one- bedroom apartment located two houses from West Cliff, behind a main house and above the detached garage. Surrounded by plants and a garden it has beautiful views of the Monterey Bay, Boardwalk, Santa Cruz Wharf and Santa Cruz Mountains. The apartment has bamboo floors, granite counters and large sunny windows. The living room has a pullout sleeper sofa making space for children or additional guests. There are plenty of linens and towels along with a stocked kitchen. Included with your stay are two beach cruisers, boogie boards and beach chairs. The deck has a working gas grill for outdoor cooking. It’s a perfect get away for a couple of small family.

The apartment gives you walking access to many beaches, great surf spots, the Boardwalk and SC Wharf, wine tasting and shopping. Athletes have been renting here for years to have easy access to triathlons, surf contests and other races. Families love it for the proximity to the Boardwalk and downtown. Travelers return every summer and fall to enjoy the fun and beauty of our town.

We welcome long term renters in the fall and winter months. Please inquire about available dates and rates for monthly rentals.

Perfect location!

This is a perfect location for me. You can pretty much walk to anywhere from here. The stairs to the beach are just across the street. Downtown is a 5 minute walk away. Very clean well token care of unit. You can check the surf at cowells from the living room window. Perfect spot!

Spacious and romantic bungalow.

We had a wonderful stay. The unit is clean, spacious and super comfy! Perfect for a couples getaway. Just a few steps to the ocean and a short walk to the pier and boardwalk. We can’t wait to stay again!

Great getaway!

Kerry was a fantastic host! Very communicative and friendly, as were her dogs and family :) the apartment was perfect for my stay with my fiancé. Great location right off the bay and so close to many fun activities! The apartment itself was clean and cozy. Loved this little gem!

Perfect location

My adult disabled son and I wanted a place near Cowell Beach so we could attend Day on the Beach. This was a perfect location for us to walk to the beach and to the Boardwalk.

Perfect Santa Cruz retreat!

We have nothing but wonderful things to stay about our stay here! The location was excellent- view of the ocean, very walkable, private. The property was clean and exactly as described. Kerry had great communication with clear check in/check out instructions and tips for things to do in the area. We absolutely would stay here again and recommend to anyone traveling to the area!

Quiet piece of heaven

Our family loves staying here. The place is always very clean and you can’t beat the morning views. Our daughter lives right down the way, so it’s nice to have a place that has everything we need. The owners are wonderful and helpful. Would highly recommend!

What a spot! We loved everything about this cute, clean, airy, great view spot! The location is perfect for everything santa cruz! One house off of west cliff, perfect for walking everywhere! Kerry and Scott were perfect hosts and, their darling dogs are the perfect addition! We will be back!

Outstanding Host & Property!

Kerry, our host, was very friendly, helpful and responsive! The property was outstanding! It was clean, well furnished, beautifully decorated and in a great location. The bed is super comfy too! We loved having a washer and dryer on-site. We would love to come back and visit sometime soon. Can highly recommend!

Nice and Close to Surfing

We three had a great time. Cottage is even nicer than photos. Pretty views from living room and balcony. There's also a small table and chairs outside. Handy outdoor shower to rinse off after surfing. Super clean and perfect location.

Great 3 Night Stay

This is a great unit above the garage and two houses from the ocean cliffs. The unit is clean and well maintained. Easy to walk everywhere in town. You do have to park on the street and during the summer it can fill up quickly. But still I not had to park 1 block away. Excellent place to stay.

Wonderful X 11!

I cannot find enough positive adjectives to use when describing our stay. Lovely and sweet apartment, private. Great location, about 1/2 block off west cliff drive. You can hear the bark of the sea lions as you relax in your apartment. It is about a 10 min walk to the wharf ( where those sea lions are hanging out) passing all kinds of surfers enjoy the wave. Location great for walkers, close to shops ( not to close) I felt at home as soon as I walked in the door. The owners were very nice!
