Second time at this spot. Everything was very clean, tidy and convenient. Starting with the easy drive from the airport. To a drive over to Hilo on hwy200. Plus not as hot as staying lower towards town. Sunsets from the pool were divine. Great communication from host.
Great large house for the hole family4w cars are preferablePlease be aware that it is much cooler and cloudy as it is op hillWe enjoyed it much to be cooled down after been down hill most days
The property was beautiful and very spacious! The kitchen and outside patio was huge! We enjoyed the heated pool and large property! The host were very kind and had excellent communication!

The house is nice and spacious and was able to accommodate all 7 of us, downfall is the cleanliness of place and most of the pillows had mold on them which we didn't know until the end of our stay. The pool is nice but looks like it needs a little tlc(broken tiles and cracks) besides that it was clean. FYI to others there are long term renters right next door in the pool house, they keep to themselves but we felt as though we were restricted and privacy wasn't fully there. Property manager was quick to respond and very nice.
Great house overall: big, comfortable, great outdoor seating, an office. Just a few things to note: no AC, awesomely steep drive to get there, and no dish washer (the one negative).
Our stay was great. It’s a little dated but it was completely fine for us. We liked being away from the crowds and people and enjoyed the chickens and peacocks. The road is a little steep but manageable. Just go slow. I would stay here again.
Plenty of space for our group of 5 adults and a young baby. We enjoyed nights out on the large covered patio, playing cards and having some food and beverages. We would have loved to use the pool more but we didn't realize that it wasn't a heated pool. The roaming chickens and nature sounds helped us sleep and weren't an issue at all. Our host communicated with us before and during our stay which was great. House had everything we neeeded so we really enjoyed our time here. isleep, awerOurhost host house
Overall, our check-in and check-out process was very easy, and Lorranda had great communication throughout our stay. The location was close to town, and while we spent most of our time in Hilo, the place was not far from it. The home is situated on a steep location, but we were able to go in and out with no problem.
One major positive was the Lorranda’s responsiveness and helpfulness, especially when our flight got delayed by one day. The host was very accommodating, allowing us to book our stay for an extra day without any issues.
Overall this was a wonderful place to stay and I'd love to move there! Big pluses were the location (out of the heavy heat of the beach zone) and the sounds of nature and forest rather than traffic and people and cars etc. The swimming pool was awesome (once the heater was fixed) and my sweet little family with the two grandkids LOVED it. The chickens roaming around were interesting, as were the wild pigs with their three little piglets. Again, the grandkids loved the fauna! The home was clean and very well equipped for our large family group. The manager of the home, Lorranda, was extremely available at all hours of the day (and night). The drive up from the airport in the dark was a little tricky but nothing is daunting for my husband who navigates boats and can fly as well---lol. I would recommend this house for people with families. You'd have to be cautious with little children as the pool has a deep end. The near neighbours are quiet and also helpful when approached regarding recycling paper products. All in all --- a very good VRBO resource.

Disappointing Stay
I recently stayed at this property in Hawaii, and while the house itself was fine, the experience was far from ideal. The place was dirty, with most of the cleaning effort seemingly limited to sweeping dirt into the corners, where I found a collection of dead insects. It was hot and humid, as expected in Hawaii, but there was no AC, and the few fans available barely circulated warm air. To make matters worse, we lost power on the first night, so even the little airflow we had was gone.
The location was also a huge downside. It’s extremely remote, and to reach the house, you absolutely need a 4x4 vehicle. The road (if you can even call it that) is steep, narrow, and made of gravel, which made driving up to the house at night a nerve-wracking experience. I had serious anxiety every time we had to make the trip in the dark. If you’re a nature lover, you might enjoy the setting, but be prepared to deal with the deafening sound of coqui frogs at night and the constant noise of roosters and chickens at the crack of dawn.
Communication with the owners was relatively good, though the time difference (they’re based in Minnesota) made it difficult to get immediate help when we needed it. There were also strict house rules, like no noise after 8 PM due to renters living right next door, which felt restrictive, especially since the pool was right beside their house, meaning no late-night swims were allowed. Also, the renters had no issues parking anywhe

Hello, thank you for your review. We want to apologize for your experience, we have talked to our cleaning crew about the issues that were brought to our attention and will buy more fans to help with the temperature as well. Usually, it is much cooler as we are located up the hill which helps with the heat comparatively to the rest of Kona. We are also sorry the location felt remote, we are located only 10 minutes from Costco, 15 minutes from Target and the Kona Commons Shopping center, and 20 minutes from Alii Drive the main strip of Kona. As for the road up to the property, again I’m so sorry but your GPS must have taken you a different route as there is a nice, paved road although somewhat steep up to the property. If taking the paved road, we have had no problem driving lower cars to the house. We still appreciate that you brought this to our attention, we will make sure to mention this to future guests to help them get to the property more smoothly. As for the Coqui frogs, usually they are seen as a plus as they are a unique and common part of Hawaiian life throughout all of Hawaii. But I truly understand your frustration if you are not used to any noise, if you keep the windows closed, they mostly can’t be heard. Unfortunately, the chickens are just part of the neighborhood, I’m sorry they disturbed you. As for the house rules, I’m sorry they were not clear enough. They were meant to ask guests to be conscious after 8pm in the parking area only as our long-term renters
