Very spacious and plenty of gathering space. Perfect location for day trips to Asheville, hiking, and other family destinations. The rockers and the view were perfect for morning coffee and after dinner family time.
All as advertised, the Host were very much involved with the whole process of booking, location details, and detailed extra directions and info.
I would stay there again.

James, thank you so much for your 5-star review! As you experienced, we completely respect our guests' privacy at all times, but of course, we want to make sure we are accessible so they can rely on us for anything they may need while visiting our area. You all were exceptionally considerate guests! We enjoyed hosting you and would love to have you back again sometime!

So glad to know you enjoyed the home, Phil! We want to thank you for leaving the house in immaculate condition. We appreciate having guests like you! Thanks again for staying with us!
We enjoyed our stay. It was very quiet and a great view. The driveway is steep so if you have a car with very low clearance, be aware. Sitting out on the deck in the evening was the best part!
This property was amazing. The views were insane. The house was very clean and our host were incredibly kind. They even offered to pick us up some groceries when we were snowed in. I would highly recommend staying here for anyone I know.
This space is beautiful! The house is comfortable and spacious + views are breathtaking. You can easily get to Asheville then retreat back to the house to relax. Sam and Laura were very attentive and responded quickly to our needs throughout the weekend. We hope to stay here again in the future. Highly recommend this mountain getaway!
Beautiful home, beautiful views! This home was perfect for our family getaway. There was more than enough room for our group of 11. From the fully stocked kitchen to the basement game room, we had everything we needed. The drive to town for groceries was less than 15 mins, Asheville was 20mins. We will definitely stay here again!
We had a lovely time with my family in this very roomy and well-appointed home. And I cannot say enough about our hosts, who were highly responsive to all our questions and who went out of their way to help us out when we had a little car trouble. The house is quite a bit out of the way if you’re visiting Asheville, but the upside is that you have the views all to yourself without seeing or hearing any neighbors. We will certainly look forward to coming back.

We're so glad you enjoyed your stay in our tranquil and private getaway! Just for clarification for our future guests, we're 12.8 miles from the center of downtown Asheville. We enjoyed hosting you! We're really happy to hear that you all will be coming back!
We enjoyed the house very much. Sitting on the deck was a wonder itself. The view is spectacular and changes constantly. We have been renting homes for 13 years and this home was rated a five star by all of us in the family. The owners are available and friendly, and ready to help if needed. You will have a wonderful time in Ashville.
5 couples and 1 baby spent a week here in October. The house was plenty big enough for all of us. We had many sit down dinners at the big dining table. The deck is expansive and the view sublime. My only criticism is the internet is very slow. And yes we did see a bear and 2 cubs

Julie we're so glad you enjoyed your stay and got a glimpse of some bears! It looks like you may not have seen the 5G hotspot we provide for our guests on the counter next to the refrigerator. The land line can be a little slow, especially when there are a number of devices logged in at the same time, but with the hotspot you should have had no issues. If you had let us know at any point during your stay, we would have gladly come to the house to see if it was unplugged or for some reason was not powered on. Thank you again for staying with us. We enjoyed hosting you very much!
We have been traveling to the Asheville area over Labor Day for the past nine years. Our group ranges from 12-14 people so it’s not easy finding a place that satisfies everyone (not to mention having enough bathrooms). This is our second year staying at this property and there is no doubt we will be returning. The house and hosts are equally incredible. It’s the perfect Asheville location. We go downtown, to the village and hiking in the Pisgah Forest, they are all so easy from this house. If you are looking for a family friendly destination, this is the place for you. As I said, no doubt that we will return.
We were very pleased with the property. As a group of 3 adult couples it was wonderful to find a place with all rooms that were en-suite! There was plenty of space to spread out and the view was magnificent! The location is great but if you plan to be out after dark it is a narrow and winding road up to the house. Check -in & out was easy and simple. WIFI was fine although most of us didn't need it and cell reception was good as well. Communication with owners was good and they were always quick to respond to any questions we had.
I definitely recommend it.
Thanks to Sam & Laurie for sharing your home!

Thank you Jill, for your kind comments! You all were great guests! We just want to clarify for our future guests that the road to the house is a wide, paved, two-lane road, but the paved driveway is a one lane driveway. Again, thank you for staying with us. We would love to host you all again in the future!
Everything was wonderful except for three things - poor internet connectivity, the road to get to the house was only wide enough for 1 vehicle and was extremely dangerous and you park on the ground level but the bedrooms are on the 3rd floor. The owners were wonderful and constantly in contact with us. The amenities were were very nice and the kitchen had all the items one would need. I would still rate the house a 5 even with the three items I've listed above.

Thank you for your five-star review, and we’re so glad you thought everything was wonderful! However, the three things you mentioned are not accurate, and we'd like to set the record straight. We’ve been hosting guests for eight years and none of them have ever described the roads as dangerous. In the 32 years we’ve lived in the community, we have never had an issue with the roads, nor witnessed an accident. The roads leading to the house are all wide, two-lane, paved roads, which are well-maintained by the homeowners association and are constantly used by the ninety or so families who live in the community. If you were referring to the driveway, like any other driveway it is a one-lane paved driveway to the doorstep of the house. Second, as the pictures indicate, there is a master bedroom with its own full bath and living space on the same level as the main parking area. Also, as the pictures indicate, there is an upper driveway which provides direct access to the main floor of the house, where there is another bedroom and only one set of stairs to access the three upstairs bedrooms. Third, if you had let us know you were having problems with the internet, we would have been delighted to come reset it for you, have AT&T send their service tech, or even brought you a hotspot. We do want to say that you were some of the most considerate guests we’ve had and we appreciate you leaving the home in immaculate condition. We would be happy to host you at any time in the future!
We had a wonderful time during our stay. They house was spacious and has a BREATHTAKING view... the pictures don’t do it justice. Linens and towels were excellent and the house was well appointed. We loved the outdoor space, wood-burning fireplace, playing cornhole, foosball and ping pong, and playing games and doing puzzles. It was a quick, easy trip down to the Biltmore and into downtown Asheville. The only negative is that the wifi bandwidth is not strong... cell service was excellent, but no more than one device can be on the wifi at a time reliably.
The property owners were SO helpful, responsive, and accommodating - I can’t thank them enough for making us feel comfortable, safe, and welcome.

Thank you for your wonderful feedback! To your point about the Internet, sometimes weather can further weaken the signal, which may have been the case during your stay. We have supplemented the WiFi with additional Verizon networks to give guests faster and more reliable service. Thank you again for all your amazing comments about the house! We're so glad you enjoyed your stay. You were great guests and we really enjoyed hosting you all!
Our week-long stay was fabulous. The home is immaculate, beautifully maintained and more than comfortable. We spent an incredible amount of time on the deep, spacious deck in all kinds of weather (warm, cool, majestic thunderstorms) and could not get enough of the ever-changing mountain views. Every minute offered another gorgeous panoramic photo opportunity. We were visited several times by black bears (mamma, papa and two juveniles) during the day and after dark. We got fun video and audio (from a safe distance). Our cars were their main attraction. They took what they wanted from several unlocked cars, leaving little indication of their snooping except open doors, pawprints and empty wrappers. They took two door handles from the one locked car then gave up on that one. Their visits made for great social media posts and a week of bear puns (can you "bear" to hear another bear story?) Highly recommended and will stay again.

We’re so delighted that you’ve already made a reservation to stay with us for nine days next August, and we’re very excited to host you again!! Thank you so much for your lovely comments! It seems like you all have a special gift for appreciating the beauty and the small details of the amazing views from the spacious porches. Although, as you mentioned, we usually only see them at a distance, bears are an integral part of life in the beautiful mountains of Western North Carolina. Recently, on CBS news there was a video of a “Law Abiding Bear” looking both ways as it walked across a pedestrian crossing in downtown Asheville! They tend to be more active at certain times of the year, and they’re attracted to the smell of food. That’s why we do remind our guests not to leave food outside or in the car, which can be an invitation to come around, but we’re so glad you got some amazing footage to share with your friends! You all are truly a wonderful family and we’re really looking forward to hosting you again in August!
You can't beat the view from either of the decks! And super quiet! The game room in the lower level was a hit for our family. The backyard was fantastic and its not very common to have a flat grass yard in the mountains. We even saw 3 black bears and multiple deer walk right through the yard! It is a very steep road to get to the house and an even steeper driveway. I was a bit concerned with how steep the driveway was but our cars made it up fine. As others have stated, the internet is essentially non-existent. There is a 4G Verizon router that we used a few times but even that only seemed to work on the decks due to poor cell service. But we didn't need internet much so not a big problem. The kitchen is very well stocked and had everything we needed. Sam was very quick to respond to anything we needed and it was clear he wanted to ensure we were completely satisfied and comfortable while there.

Zach, we're so glad you enjoyed your stay and you got to see some of the beautiful wildlife on the mountain! Sorry you had issues with the Wifi. If you had notified us during your stay, we would have immediately provided you with another hotspot. The cell signal at the house has never been an issue for most carriers, like Verizon and AT&T. However, it has been an issue for T-mobile customers at times. This month (August 2024), we will have AT&T fiber internet connected, which has finally been made available at the house after many years of waiting. With 1 gigabyte per second, internet should never be a problem again. Regarding the roads, all access to the house is on a paved two-lane road to the driveway, and the driveway is cobblestone paving up to both entrance levels of the house. As far as steepness goes, it may be more a matter of perception from one person to another. The home is in a large mountain community of 140+ property owners, many of whom live and work here and have children attending school daily, as was the case with us for 35 years. We really enjoyed hosting you all! You were amazing guests and we would love to host you again in the future!
This cabin had the most beautiful Mountain View! The sunrises and sunsets are breathtaking. There is a wrap-around deck with wonderful rocking chairs. I spent so much time sitting outside enjoying the peaceful view. The cabin was very spacious and easily accommodated our large family for Thanksgiving. The downstairs game area was fantastic and both the kids and adults enjoyed the ping pong, pool and football games. The kitchen was fully stocked and the owners were very conscientious and had hand sanitizers in every bedroom and lots of toiletries. They were very responsive and went out of their way to make our stay wonderful. The driveway is quite steep (made for a fun workout challenge to try to jog up) but there is plenty of room at the top to park and turnaround so it wasn’t scary at all (and this is coming from a Floridian who isn’t used to hills). We easily fit our 4 cars/vans. The owners pick up the trash/recycling if/when you want, which is much nicer than other locations we have been to. And the fireplace was so wonderful-we spent every night in front of the fire!! I can’t say enough nice things. We really enjoyed ourselves and I highly recommend the cabin.

Thank you so much, Sydnee, for sharing your experience with our future guests! We're so glad you all enjoyed all aspects of the home, from the game room to relaxing on the porch and enjoying the views! We're also glad that our fully stocked kitchen served your Thanksgiving dinner preparation needs. We appreciate the way you left the house in such great condition! We would definitely look forward to hosting you all anytime you return to the area! Thanks again for staying with us!
This was our second year, staying at Sam and Laura‘s cabin for the week of Thanksgiving. Sam and Laura are incredibly accommodating and very quick to respond to any needs. They are proactive in checking in and just wonderful to work with. The cabin is beautiful, and very spacious, which is important to our larger family. Everyone feels like they have their own space. The view is absolutely breathtaking and by far my favorite thing about the cabin. The fireplace is wonderful and brings the family together with plenty of seating area in the living room. There is everything you could need in this cabin’s kitchen. There’s a fun trail just a short walk down the mountain and we went on a great hike that Sam and Laura recommended. It is only 25 minutes to Asheville if you want to visit the city. We love it so much we’re going back again - we highly recommend this cabin!
Beautiful views, tons of porch furniture to accommodate a large group. Well stocked kitchen, but could use more plates and some smaller bowls. Tons of board games available, along with pool, foosball and badminton! Would definitely rent again if we're in the area with a larger group. They obviously care about their guests having a great time!
Spectacular views from a warm and comfortable home!
We were seven college friends and couldn’t have picked a better place to spend a week. The house was super clean and comfy. The kitchen, baths and laundry were well stocked. It was great not to have to bring soaps, paper products, etc. The hosts, Sam and Laura were quick to respond to questions and accommodating to our needs. Midweek they restocked our firewood for the nice fires we enjoyed each evening in the beautiful fireplace in the living room. There was plenty of space for us to have alone time to rest or read and plenty of space for our great dinners and reminiscing. Being on top of a mountain gave us those wonderful views and amazing privacy. We would love to come back sometime.
Thanks Sam and Laura!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this house. We had 7 in our group and the accommodations were great for that amount of people. We have stayed in many, many homes with VRBO and I can honestly say that it was one of the best we’ve ever had. It was equipped with everything we needed and the communication with the owner was amazing. It also had so much to do there including ping pong, pool table, corn toss, Foosball, and the best view you could ask for of the Blue Ridge Mountains on a huge back porch. Would rent it again.

About the host
Hosted by Sam
This house has been a home to us for many years and we have loved every minute of it. Now that our children are grown and we have downsized to a smaller home nearby, we would like to share the beauty and peace of the mountain with our guests. My wife is retired teacher from a local university and I work in quality control for a national corporation with offices in this region. We love nature and enjoy hiking the fantastic trails in the area. We also love to travel, especially to Italy. We like to make our guests comfortable and be there whenever they need us while also giving them their space and privacy. We are only four miles away if they ever need anything.
Why they chose this property
We love the tranquillity and beauty of the mountain. In every season there is something beautiful to witness. The chance to be so close to the natural world has been a great blessing to us and has enriched our lives in ways that cannot be expressed in words.
What makes this property unique
Our home gives our guests the chance to watch the changing views of the valley, the clouds, and distant mountains, see the brilliant stars at night, hear the woodthrush in the morning and evening, hike the trails and be in the natural world, while also having easy access to downtown Asheville, the Blue Ridge Parkway, the Biltmore House, Cataloochee ski resort, white water rafting, and all of the other great attractions in the Western North Carolina area!
