About this property

Captain's Chalet: 3,400 sq ft w/ beach & pool pass, game rm, hot tub, & firepit

Bring family and friends to the 3,400 square foot Captain's Chalet! We're located in Schuss Mountain Village in the Shanty Creek resort up north. It's your snowy winter ski retreat, lakeside summer getaway, and a golfer’s sun-drenched paradise.

Located five minutes from Schuss mountain, ten minutes from the resort golf course, ten minutes from Lake Bellaire, and fifteen minutes from Torch Lake, it's a home nestled in the woods you can enjoy all year round.

We can sleep 16 guests including children and babies, but not 16 adults. Please take note of the sleeping arrangements below:

BEDROOMS:
We have four bedrooms, an open den, and a huge bonus room with a sleeper sofa.

* Primary bedroom (main level): King bed and pack n play for babies.

* 2nd bedroom (main level): Queen bed

* 3rd bedroom (main level): Queen bed

* Open Den (main level): queen air mattress

* 4th bedroom (downstairs): 2 bunkbeds with trundles (twins on top, fulls on bottom and twin trundles) and 1 extra full bed.

* Bonus room (downstairs): Sleeper sectional sofa

BONUS ROOM:
ping-pong table, pool table, arcade game, and a bar area with stools.

BATHROOMS:
3 full bathrooms. The primary en-suite bathroom on the main level has a separate jetted tub and shower. The second full bathroom is located between the 2nd and 3rd bedrooms on the main level. The third bathroom is downstairs next to the 4th bedroom.

INTERIOR AMENITIES:
washer/dryer, mudroom with ski boot racks, fireplace between the den and living room, a fully-stocked kitchen, board games, cards, barware, all interior linens, extra blankets, shampoo, conditioner and soap for bathrooms, kitchen soap and dishwasher soap, laundry tablets and hot tub towels.

EXTERIOR AMENITIES:
large deck with a 7-person hot tub, gas Weber grill, seating area, and a firepit for roasting marshmallows and telling campfire stories!

Our whole family enjoyed staying in this home. Very quiet, peaceful and a clean home that allowed us to enjoy family time in the evening. We also enjoyed Torch lake and Bellaire lake (access from the home). We enjoyed the beach, cornhole and a family volleyball game. This was a great family vacation.

Very nice place

Great place. I love the windows in the back of the house, looking out into the woods. It’s snowed a lot and it was a winter in wonderland. Very peaceful spot within the woods. The home was very comfortable and clean! I can’t wait to return.

Family togetherness up north

Our family (with children, spouses & grandkids had a great reunion here. There's so much to do at the home & in the area. Highlights were the beach pass (with pickleball too) & pool pass, & a day renting a pontoon boat on Torch Lake.The home nicely fit us all. We loved the downstairs room for the kids & the pool & ping pong tables. It was a lovely stay. Thanks much!

Great house, Great locatiom

Overall the house was an awesome experience. It accommodated 5 adults and 6 kids easily, with a very well stocked kitchen and accommodations to keep all entertained while not on the ski hill. Access to the resort pools was a great bonus part of the experience. One caution, the drive way is very steep so during the winter months, 4 wheel/all wheel drive is probably necessary.

Hey, I'm Kelly! My husband, Matt, and I have owned vacation rentals since 2008, but we've always dreamed of owning a cabin up north in Michigan. I'm from the Flint area (Grand Blanc) and we have tons of family and friends who live in the Mitten, even though we currently live in Florida with our three boys. =)

Why they chose this property

Our boys love skiing, fishing, and watersports and we love to play golf too, so this was the perfect spot to combine everyone's favorite things. We get great use out of the house with all our family and friends, and thought that others might like it, too. It's nestled in the woods, but not so far out of the little town of Bellaire that there's nothing to do.

What makes this property unique

It's huge! We have 3,400 sq. ft. of living space to take advantage of. Trust us! We like space when we travel, so having the kids downstairs with the big bonus game room with their own giant bedroom and bathroom makes a difference. Adults can play euchre and have some drinks in front of the fireplace or sit in the hot tub upstairs on the main level while the kids play ping-pong, pool, and video games downstairs. Or everyone can get together to roast marshmallows at the firepit. It's a win-win for everyone.
