Turtle Watch BEACH FRONT - owner managed.
5 bedrooms and 3 full baths beautifully spacious and very comfortable home. It has spectacular sunrises and moon-rises over the pier with full view of the Ocean, all from the screened-in porch off the Main living room floor. The screened in porch is really the focal point for any beach front home....No Bugs! It has composite decking so also very nice on the feet and good for babies to crawl on as well. The hammock on the screened in porch is a must of course. Nothing like a nap to sounds of the ocean!

Turtle Watch Beach House is far enough away from town to hear the ocean sing yet so close with a 10min walk to town. In the summer May - October Sea Turtles arrive on Folly Beach to nest for hundreds of years right in the backyard. It's an amazing site to witness quietly!

Turtle Watch is beautifully decorated with updated furniture and decor from beach spots all over the globe. The furnishing and decor give this home a very comfortable homey vibe. There are several areas to tuck away and relax with a book, sway in 1 of 2 hammocks, gather for games or just be in the moment from the upstairs library, (2) sundecks, screened in porch, office area or one of the three seating areas on the main level or two seatings area on the ground level. Or maybe, let Owner know you would like to arrange to rent a golf cart, or bikes, and have them ready upon your arrival for nice stroll over the 4 miles of Folly Beach, the closest beach to Charleston Downtown, 15mins!

Turtle Watchs' (5) bedrooms are also fully appointed with a TV in every sleeping all with steaming. Beds are (2) Kings (2) Queens (1) twin/double bunk (1) and day bed and are all very comfortable with GOOD mattresses, good thread linens and "non - lumpy" pillows with four on every bed. (2) sets of bath, hand and face towels in each room.

Kitchen is opened up all the way around a gas stove top in the island for easy cooking. With a kitchen that is fully stocked with all the kitchenware imaginable: blenders, choppers, toasters, 12 cup coffee, 1 cup Kuerig, baking and roasting dishes, pots, pans, casserole dishes. Plus place settings, cutlery and glassware, for 14ppl. Owner loves cooking and entertaining. You should want for nothing.

Turtle Watch Beach House provides ample beach and activity accessories. (6) beach chairs, (3-4) umbrellas, (8) Beach towels, an array of beach buckets, pales, shovels for building sandcastles, beach paddle ball, frisbees, and a tub of baby water toys including an a small baby pool!

The private beach access walkway is key to a beach front home. Owner put in an IPE wood beach access boardwalk to the beach. What does this means its a brazilian hardwood with very smooth surfaces so NO SPLINTERS! Yippie! It's very nice on the feet as apposed to old cracking wood decks.

The two sun decks, one on the 3rd floor for privacy and one along the Board Walk between the house and the beach are a great seating area or for private sun bathing areas.

Historic Charleston is within an easy 15 minute driving distance. Downtown Charleston has an outstanding array of Cuisine, Harbor Dining, Roof Top Dining, and of course Causal Dining. Tip: Seafood is fresh and definitely a must to sample. The market section in Downtown is sure to please any avid shopper. Charleston has several Historic Mansions and Gardens nearby. Also, the lovely Towns of Beaufort, SC and Savannah, GA are only one hour by car and offers the most beautiful Low Country settings.

Turtle Watch rents weekly only Saturday to Saturday.

Wonderful Family Vacation

We enjoyed a wonderful week with family at Turtle Watch. The home offers many gathering spaces inside and out with amazing views. It’s comfortable, clean and includes amenities for all ages and activities. Great location steps from the beach and an easy walk to town. Perfect spot to relax and spend time together.

Another good week at Folly

Have stayed in this house many times over the last 20 years. Current owner has upgraded substantially over last few years. Nice house in a great location on Folly.

Absolutely perfect!

We had family and friends together for a fabulous week! The house is perfect, the beach is perfect, Folly town is a perfect walking town, and everybody agrees that this is one of the best vacations we've ever had. The owners are so gratious and have created a perfect environment for their guests. Many thanks!! We WILL visit again.

Turtle watch is a super clean, beautifully decorated, well located, and comfortable and fun. Has lots of amenities, like boggy boards, chairs to take to the beach, coolers, lots of outdoor and indoor games, lovely screened in porch, great hammocks! You cannot go wrong with Turtle Watch!

A perfect vacation at Turtle Watch

Everything about Turtle Watch was amazing! This beautiful home was packed with all the amenities you could wish for. The screened porch is the perfect place to enjoy the view and you’re just steps down the beautiful deck to the beach. The kitchen was stocked with everything we could have needed and more. All of the games and supplies for outdoor fun were so appreciated. There is tons of room to spread out and give everyone their own space. We can’t wait to return!

AWESOME VACATION

Our stay at Turtle Watch exceeded our hopes and expectations. The home is located on the beach with a beautiful screened back porch that we enjoyed daily. The walkway to the beach is well maintained and made it easy to access the beach. Outdoor shower right on the walkway for easy rinse off before going into the home. The kitchen had everything we needed to enjoy a few nights of cooking in. We had fun sitting in the open den area playing games at night as a family. Owner checked on us the day after we arrived. I would highly recommend this location and home for a family vacation.

Beautiful beach house

Turtle Watch was lovely - very comfortable, clean and spacious, with so many thoughtful conveniences. This is one of the first houses we've stayed at that actually had enough plates and utensils for a large party or extended family. We made good use of the hammock, deck chairs, books and boogie boards. For some reason there are no screens on the windows and it would have been nice to have those open sometimes, but we made up for it by spending a lot of time on the screened porch. It was a truly wonderful vacation!

Reviving Beach Holiday

The property is just as listed on the VBRO site. The Property Owner takes pride in the beautiful beach home and it shows. The screened-in porch with clear ocean views was throughly enjoyed by all!! This may sound like a strange item to place in the review; however, we do a lot of cooking and appreciated the knife block full of SHARP knives!! The home's location is perfectly set directly on the beach and just far enough away from town to be quiet yet accessible by walking.

Beautiful home and good location to be near downtown

We had a great time at this home. The home was very clean and organized. Beds were comfortable. Kitchen was fully stocked. I was a little on edge having smaller kids because the house has a lot of breakable glass items. I would recommend purchasing the insurance because it might save you some headache. Owner is very nice but very particular. Location is close to downtown if you like that atmosphere.

2021 Girls Beach Trip

Turtle Watch was just as Beautiful as the photos when booking! The House was CLEAN and welcoming! The kitchen had ALL the amenities for any type cooking and eating. We especially enjoyed the screened in porch - coffee/breakfast in the AM watching sunrise - cocktails in the evenings. Beach within several easy steps. ALL the Beds were extremely COMFORTABLE! Melanie was available, checked in to see if we needed anything, but we did not need her at all as every thing was clean and in workable condition. The House is in an excellent location. Thanks Melanie, We had a very ENJOYABLE Time!! Would definitely recommend and enjoy another stay!

our first extended family (4 children plus two new spouses) family vacation. The house was perfect. Plenty of room, well furnished in all aspects - kitchen, bathrooms, bedrooms etc. We drank coffee on the porch each morning and many of us lounged in the hammock to start and end the day. Also cooked some good breakfasts and dinners with the high quality appliances. Walking the beach many times we always felt we made the best choice. House had great character. Clean and everything functioned well. Also close enough to walk to local restaurants - we recommend Taco Boy and Woody's pizza. It was a great choice. we will definitely book again.

Awesome beachfront property!

The Turtlewatch was perfect for our extended family of ten. The house was clean, beds comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed to cook. The screened-in porch is definitely the high light of this house. It kept the bugs away at night and we didn't have to worry about our towels or items being blown off the porch. We spent many nights sitting on the porch enjoying the ocean views. The new boardwalk and outside shower is also a great asset to the house. The driveway easily accommodates all the cars. It is nice to be away from the center of town and the pier but it was only a half mile walk to when we did want to venture out. I definitely recommend Turtlewatch!

Nice house, but the owner is a bit challenging.

The security cameras on the back porch (where we sat most of the time) made us feel as if we were being watched by the owner. Several drink bottles left under one of the beds by previous renter and cockroachs in the kitchen. If possible, I recommend you speak with the owner on the phone prior to renting, so you will know what to expect. I also recommend you video or photograph state of house upon your arrival and upon your departure...just in case.

Very nice house, very well equipped. We enjoyed the boardgames and puzzles and skimboards. The kitchen had great tableware and in high enough counts to get us easily through 2 meals, which was great. It also is well equipped in general, allowing for great cooking. The host was very responsive and answered any questions in an impressively short time. The beach views are gorgeous. We really enjoyed our stay!

Turtle Watch is an amazing property. When looking for a rental home, the write up always sounds great and the photos are beautiful. But sometimes when you get there, they don’t measure up. Turtle Watch does! The home is so clean! I literally found nothing to complain about. There are so many nice, thoughtful touches throughout the house. You will be pleasantly surprised by how well appointed it is. The beach chairs were in great condition, lots of beach toys, towels and sheets were high quality. The location is great for exploring Charleston, getting to the grocery ( several choices within 10 minutes), and you can walk into Folly Beach’s downtown. Melanie was so responsive and welcoming. You can’t go wrong with Turtle Watch.

Had our every 2 year extended family vacation. Have fallen in love with Folly Beach. Turtle Watch is the best place we have stayed. The house was gorgeous. Well stocked with literally everything. The attention to detail and personal touch that owner Melanie provides is wonderful. So Blessed to have found it. The view of the ocean is fabulous. Definitely would stay again.

The owner, Melanie, has put great consideration into her beach house and she wants all her guests to enjoy every amenity she and her family have when they stay at Turtle Watch all winter. Melanie believes it is privilege to have guests select Turtle Watch with all the choices out there, and she believes the only effort put forth for guests should be to make memories!

Melanie is a business entrepreneur, owning two businesses. Folly Beach is very close to Melanie's passion for turtles. Melanie is an avid turtle preservationist and advocate and has been since a young age, (thanks to her father). When she saw turtle nests on Folly Beach right behind this lovely house she "rented", yes this very house, she knew Folly Beach was the place was the house for us! With her life savings she purchased the house, renamed it Turtle Watch in 2015 and then spent 6yrs renovating.

Why they chose this property

The beaches on this side of the island were wider and with little erosion, the crowds were not overwhelming and the town with it's lovely residents have a wonderful laid back personality.

Melanie saw the great potential this beach house had and with a little TLC and a design mind she got to work renovating and redesigning the entire house. The house has a spacious open floor plan on the first floor which is great for gathering. It's perfect size for 6 adults (3 couples) with a few children. The bedrooms are well appointed with comfortable beds, yes proper mattress.

What makes this property unique

The location of Turtle Watch is really such a perk. The beach is wider and just the right amount of crowd. The town is just close enough for a quick walk or bike ride in and out, but far enough so the Nightlife noise is not intrusive. The view is so magnificent, sometimes you just find yourself in a daze rocking or swinging in the hammock on the porch for Hours!
