This is a special house! We found an unusually well-equipped kitchen; two comfy bedrooms and a shared common space (great for the ‘late-night reader’ among us); a roomy living/dining area with Smart TV (and several apps); strong wifi.
The house's location is fantastic: walking distance to the town center and it's very-well stocked general store (The Willey’s Store), Miller's Thumb Gallery, and the Library (with its great, ongoing, book re-sale collection), and the beautiful Caspian Lake; numerous walking paths to nearby Barr Hill (great views) and elsewhere; a wonderful view from the rear of the house across fields and forest to the hills in the distance; easy driving to fine dining and nearby towns.
We used the screened-in rear porch constantly, drinking in the view, the clear air, and the quiet!
We loved our stay!

Why they chose this property
Years ago, this road was just open fields. My husband and I would drive by on our way out of town and marvel at the view of Stannard Mountain. It was a place of peace and quiet, a world away from the hustle and bustle. In the early 1980s, we had the opportunity to purchase this land and design our dream house. We worked with local craftspeople to create this home, and for many years, it was our family's year-round residence. While the area has grown and developed, the beauty and serenity remain. We are happy to share this special place with you and hope you create lasting memories here.
What makes this property unique
This part of the Northeast Kingdom has long been a favorite for outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy skiing, snowshoeing, ice fishing, hiking, and micro-brewery tours. Our own Craftsbury Outdoor Center is connected to over 105 km of premier Nordic Ski trails which we can access through the Highland lodge in less than 5 minutes from the house. Within an hour’s drive, Stowe Mountain Resort, Smuggler’s Notch and Jay Peak offer Alpine skiing. Nearby, the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail is easily accessed for snowmobiling, walking, and Nordic skiing.
This area is popular with writers, painters, and photographers. It is also a favorite for foodies and craft-beer lovers. Our community is proud of its local products, including Hill Farmstead Brewery (a less than 10 minute drive), Jasper Hill Cheesery, Buffalo Mountain Market (Hardwick), Bar Hill Gin (Bar Hill Nature Preserve is less than 1 mile from the house) and many local eateries.
