Why Joanne Carney chose Eastport
We love our location for it's private setting that is especially quiet and so close to the water. Situated on top of a hill with wonderful water views and wooded back lot. Eastport is a wonderful community full of artists, history and beauty. We enjoy the hking, walking through town, and beach combing for sea glass, shells, stones etc.
What makes this House unique
Modern house with large 25 foot square open concept. Step out the French doors onto the second story patio to enjoy wondrous water views. Modern appliances with Jennair oven and stove with grill, dishwasher, laundry room, jet shower. Relax on the leather couch and chair and enjoy the large screen 50" TV, internet, basic cable. Such a wonderfully quiet location without a sound at night. There is a granny suite apartment at the back that we rent out, listing # 3760692, (no shared walls). There is shared laundry room with locks both sides. The main house uses the upstairs outdoor patio privately, and the apartment uses the downstairs patio privately.

Lovely house with strange layout
The house is artistically decorated with a lovely deck (bird watching!), living room and rather tight kitchen, but the strangeness comes from the bathroom being 1-1/2 flights of stairs up from the small, dark bedroom downstairs. There is a large window in the foyer with a view of the road that welcomes you (!) when you come out of the bathroom and walk the stairs. But it's a lonely road, so not really a big deal. Eastport is WAY up there, but we enjoyed touring the interesting area and Raye's mustard shop and restaurants too. Hope to go out on the Jolly Breeze, the owner's whale watching ship docked in New Brunswick someday...
We are happy that you enjoyed your stay, the views and wildlife! I would like to clarify a couple of the comments. This is a two story home so 1 1/2 flights of stairs would not be possible, though the stairs do have a landing so that might be where the confusion lies. The bedroom is 12 feet by 12 feet with a queen size bed, an armoir and two chairs as in the pictures. The full size double windows are south facing with lots of sun during the daytime. There are black out curtains which can be pulled back or closed depending if you like the morning sunlight waking you up or not! The bedroom walls are white and the floors are made of real, environmental no VOC, light colored bamboo. What makes this home so special is that the living area is on the second story with the great views to enjoy during the waking hours.
Thank you for staying with us and we hope that you do return for a whale watching tour in the future! Just one of the very special things to do in our area.
I can't say enough about this property. It was lovely. Joanne was very helpful and I had a wonderful time. I look forward to returning in the future.
Lovely waterview home
This 1 bedroom/1 bathroom vacation rental property exceeded our expectations in every way. First, communication with the owner was fast and responsive. There were a few housekeeping items that we needed, such as batteries for the remote etc and all were addressed in a timely fashion. The home was spotless. Second, the home is really luxurious with gourmet kitchen and a bathroom with a multi-jet shower. Because there are limited dining options in town, we did take advantage of the gourmet kitchen to make a meal or two. Third, the location was perfect. Secluded, quiet, beautiful view of the ocean, but close enough to walk into the little town of Eastport. We enjoyed our time in Eastport and found the townspeople incredibly friendly. My one comment about the lay out of the property is that it is "inverse living" with the kitchen, living areas. dining space, deck and only bathroom all on the upper level. The bedroom and laundry are on the lower level. This meant negotiating stairs at night to use the restroom. Just FYI.
Wonderful place with beautiful ocean view
This house has everything you need to have a peaceful, enjoyable vacation. The house itself is awesome. The large open living space made it possible to see the ocean view from many spots. The deck was amazing. You have trees and ocean at the same time. Everything was just perfect. I highly recommend this place. I can't think of one thing that I would have changed! Thank you for helping make my stay in Eastport all the better!
The home was beautiful & very clean. Great view from living and deck. Comfortable arrangements
Excellent place to stay in Eastport. Maine. Highly recommend.
Best rental value in the area
We went to Eastport Maine for the month of August to escape the Florida heat. It didn’t work out too well since it was much warmer than usual in Maine. We really enjoyed the House. It is much nicer than the average rental in downeast Maine. Cant beat the local seafood. I had lobster almost every day. We also had a great time whale watching on the Jolly Breeze. We would recommend this property to anyone wishing to visit this area with its great scenery and weather.
Recommended area activities include whale watching, fishing, kayaking, hiking, walking, shopping, artist studio tours, scuba diving, island hopping, lighthouse tours, Roosevelt summer home tour. Ferry ride from Eastport to Deer Island or Campobello island with Roosevelt's Summer home and Park. St. Andrews NB historic district visit. Lighthouse hike at Campobello. Reversing falls in Pembrook, Cobscook Park hike. Shackford State Park in Eastport. Day trip to Bar Harbour.
