Everything was perfect! Very Clean, has every supply you would need, comfortable. Steve Young was the best host ever, thank you for a wonderful stay. We hope to return someday
We enjoyed our stay! House was perfect for us, location was great for the planned visits. Great communication from host along with a nice welcome basket on the table. Looking forward to our return trip in April!!
The house was very clean, Steve was easy to work with, and there are plenty of supplies for us to use. This is the second time we have stayed at this house and improvements have been made. It was the right size for the two couples that stayed there.
Second time returning to property and planning a third visit. Beds are very comfortable, house is welcoming and well stocked. Always nice sitting on the porch and watching the deer. Home is private but close to attractions.

Always great!
We love this home away from home. It is so comfortable and has all the amenities we could want. Thanks for a stay that was far and away better than a similarly priced hotel!

So glad you enjoyed your stay. This always gives me those warm fuzzy feelings!
My husband and I stayed with our dog at this property and had a wonderful time! We have been to the trail many times during peak season, but decided we wanted to do something a little more lowkey and bring our dog. We spent quite a bit of time in the house, reading, watching TV cooking, and all of the amenities that we needed were there. Communication with the property owner, Steve, was also very easy and he was very responsive.Would recommend this cozy home!
Loved that this place was out in the country but only ten minutes from town. Saw a lot of deer. Very clean. Comfortable beds. A lot of dishes and utensils provided. Would definitely stay again
We’d stayed here once before, and it was just as good as last time. The house has a good layout for families, and it sits in a convenient location for the wineries/activities. Also the deer were out every morning/night.
If you are looking for peace and quiet in wine country this is definitely the place. We stayed for almost a month and explored the area pretty thoroughly. There is a lot within an hours drive to do in Missouri, Kentucky, and Illinois of course. The host is incredible!!!!
This property was just what we needed in terms of size for our group of 4 adults, and proximity to all the places we like to visit. It’s situated very close to some great hiking areas and wineries along the trail. The bathrooms and kitchen were stocked with all our needs, the place was very clean and comfortable, and communication was easy and very quick with Steve. We will definitely look to stay here again in the future. Thanks again Steve!
This place is just as described! It has everything you need for a family stay. It is close enough to town if you need something but I’m the middle of the country. Very close to the Wine Trail. How to stay again!

Beautiful home on wine trail
This was a great stay with a beautiful home located very centrally to all we wanted to do and see. Saw deer a couple of evenings and really enjoyed our time there. The owner is very nice and easy to work with. This home was furnished and stocked the best as any I have stayed in. We hope to revisit in the fall. The countryside around here is lovely as well.

It was perfect for our family to visit our son at college. Our highlights were how peaceful and beautiful the area is. Very quiet. Only the sounds of nature! We also loved visiting with the horses next door. We would definitely consider staying here again for another visit. Thank you Steve!

About the host
Hosted by Steve Young
I grew up in Southern Illinois, and could not wait to 'Get Out,' 'Escape,' and go to the big city. I went to school in Chicago at the Illinois Institute of Technology, and left Southern Illinois far behind. I thought this was great.
I had a very successful career in the online advertising, marketing, and market research world catering to big pharma. In a normal year I would fly 125,000 miles and see many places, countries and sites.
As I grew older and my 'success' continued I felt more and more that something was missing. I began to yearn for the hills of Southern Illinois, the slower pace of life, and the people I left behind more and more.
I 2013, I came home for a few weeks to help my mother move my father into a nursing home. After this was completed I flew to Milan for business, and on my way back I received a call that my mother had had a stroke. This was a life changing event for me, and I never really went home.
My father spent the year getting worse, and my Mother spent the year getting better. When my father died in December of 2013, I decided to 'officially' move to Southern Illinois in order to spend more time with my mother and be closer with family. I also made the decision to leave the company I worked for and do something simpler, and local to Southern Illinois.
June 1st, 2014 I started my company with the goal to create vacation rental homes in Southern Illinois and help the area grow tourism. Southern Illinois is a beautiful and special place, and I would like to share it with as many people as possible.
Why they chose this property
Location, Location, Location. This property was a beautiful home and needed just minor updates on the flooring, and the view was spectacular. The property was previously owned by a little old lady who built it as her retirement home.
The proximity to wineries, and area attractions is also great for this property.
