This was an amazing place! We loved the layout of the house and each having our own space. The kitchen was well equipped and had everything we needed for our stay and the beds were comfortable. The artwork throughout the home was wonderful to see and the gardens were so peaceful and beautiful! Thank you for a wonderful stay!
Six wonderful relaxing days in this cozy comfortable home was just what we were looking for. We found it quiet and private, with everything we needed for a relaxing time alone with each other on our 52nd wedding anniversary. Jay is a most gracious host and we look forward to staying again.
We stayed at this property for 5 days. The location was great for exploring the peninsula. The home was clean and homey with lovely front and back gardens. It had all that we needed for a comfortable stay.
Relaxing and quiet location with fenced front yard. All the amenities of home and delightful surroundings both in and out. We enjoyed our stay immensely and would recommend this place to anyone. The owner has gone above and beyond to make your stay enjoyable.
This house is truly a home away from home with all the comforts and convenience you could hope for. It was chilly outside during our stay but the house was cozy and warm. We loved the fenced in yard for our dog as well!
We thoroughly enjoyed our 8 night stay. Our host Jay must have ordered great weather for us as it was sunny nearly every day - allowing us to have our morning coffee on the front porch while enjoying the fantastic view. Being new to the area, we found the guest book with maps and area activities very helpful.
Easy to find, nice property, clean and well equipped, pleasant neighbors, owner was immediately responsive to two concerns: WiFi router needed to be power cycled, and garbage needed to be collected. Hope we can return.
Jay's house and neighborhood, are so peaceful and beautiful. I enjoyed having coffee on the front porch watching the sunrise over the water. Thank you for sharing such a beautiful retreat. Loved your art work!!

Had a wonderful and relaxing stay. Very private with wooded area all around. Deer roamed the area every day. We visited Port Townsend, Hurricane Ridge, Rented kayaks at Port Ludlow.Victoria BC. Slept peacefully each night in super comfortable beds. Our dog Abby enjoyed the fenced front and back yards.
Will definitely return to this haven on the Juan De Fuca Strait.
We stayed a month here. It was so cozy and well set up. The gardens are beautiful and beautiful sunsets and ocean views just a few feet away. Lovely neighborhood to walk in and very safe. Quiet!
20 minute drive to the grocery store.
Loved it!
We loved the house, everything was there, starting from spices, coffee maker to blankets and towels, if necessary. A beautiful house in a gorgeous location. Clearly the home of an artist who cares about the environment. I'll be back.

Nice House in Quiet Neighborhood
My family and I enjoyed staying at the Diamond Retreat House. You can't really tell from the picture how nice the garden and surrounding area are. We liked the layout of the house. The kitchen was clean and well equipped. The electric switches were all labeled, the supplied directions were clear, and the whole house was well organized and decorated. The location is convenient for getting to Olympic Nat Park and the nice little town of Sequim.

Michael - Thanks for your wonderful review. I am very heartened by your review in knowing that you had a wonderful time staying at my place. I take great pride in the place, ever improving the house & garden areas. Of course, you are welcome any time, and I hope you & your family have a wonderful summer...and beyond.

This is a lovely property. Unfortunately I found it necessary to postpone my visit due to construction going on next door during my planned visit. I’m very grateful for the owner’s honesty and transparency in revealing the neighbor’s planned construction project to me and I’m looking forward to rescheduling my visit once the construction next door is completed. Owner was very responsive and easy to work with. Thank you Jay!

Quiet Christmas Getaway
After a short journey through the forest from Highway 101, we arrived in the quiet community of Diamond Point. Setting foot in the cottage, we instantly felt at home! All the rooms are spacious and comfortably furnished. Living and kitchen area vaulted ceiling enhances the feeling of roominess. We enjoyed the warmth of the wood stove during the cool and early dark evenings of late December. The owner’s art collection displayed throughout the house adds interest and character. Operating directions for running the household have been thoughtfully considered and provided. The back deck and yard are wonderfully private and backed by mature forest. The yard is fully enclosed which was delightful for our Labrador Retriever to explore off lead. A family of raccoons and small herd of deer passed through the area, while we stayed, but were no trouble and enjoyable to watch.
We attempted to get to Diamond Point beach via Mussel Shell Road, but were thwarted by a high tide and found the steepness of grade physically challenging. It was much easier to get to the beach by taking the short drive over to North Diamond Shore Lane. From there we were able to hike clear down to the old wood cabin and beyond. A beautiful walk at low tide!
The cottage provided a great base for exploring the area: Port Angeles and the spit at Ediz Hook wildlife refuge; Dungeness Spit; Old-town Sequim; Historic Fort Worden; Picturesque Port Townsend; Blyn Village, Casino restaurant and gift shop (and the most amazing Christmas light display south of Butchart Gardens!)
The most difficult aspect of our visit was driving away at the end of our stay in Diamond Point Cottage – we would love to return someday.

George (and partner),
Your review was the most gracious I have ever read (and maybe deservedly so).
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. I've tried to make the place comfortable and interesting w/ art, nice furnishings, kitchen amenities, and I continue to upgrade the garden areas.
Given the wonderful location & amenities of the area, it is easy to see why I continue to love the Olympic peninsula and return as often as I can to explore new sites & return to so many beautiful spots.
thanks for enjoying yourselves, at my home away from home!
Cozy spot, near some amazing views. The space is very well thought out, from the artwork, to the very well stocked kitchen, and much more. I enjoyed my stay and hated to leave!
Great location, friendly area, shopping and beach close!
Love the house and private setting. Yards are huge and fenced. Gardens are lovely to look at. Appreciated the aluminum foil, plastic wrap in kitchen and soaps in the bathroom. Everything is labeled which was handy. Can tell owner has done alot to make it enjoyable and well thought out. Very quiet area. Good selection of books,, puzzles,, few games and movies.. Would like to come back!
The house is inviting and pleasant. The location (close to the ocean) is gorgeous, both the front and back porches were great to sit on, the house was super clean and bright. We walked our dog all over the neighborhood and it was a good place for walks, plus the neighbors were super friendly. The bed was comfortable and the kitchen was organized and well stocked. Would definitely go back.
I was attending a photography workshop in the area, so my husband and 16 year old dog came along for fun. The house was perfect for us. Very comfortable and well equipped. The stairs were a bit steep for my senior pup, but she managed and thoroughly enjoyed her time on the decks and in the fenced yard. The fence was quite secure for an older dog; however I'm not positive it would have been sufficient for her in her more adventurous/athletic years. The neighborhood is quiet and neighbors were friendly. We saw lots of deer and raccoons. We couldn't find the trail to the beach (the place where we thought the trail was located says "no trespassing" so we walked the road to the beach. The last portion of the road is incredibly steep (and fairly long). I actually had to carry my dog down, which was no easy feat. We went at high tide and couldn't really enjoy the beach, and we weren't willing to tackle the steep hill again at a later time when the tide was lower. Instead, we went to Miller Peninsula State Park and hiked a couple miles of flat terrain to the beach, which was lovely. All in all, we had a very nice visit and would absolutely recommend this rental.
This property was absolutely wonderful! The house was just as described, well provided kitchen, great beds, comfortable seating and clean. The setting was also great, rural yet close to Sequim, a delightful town as well as Olympic National Park. Additionally, we took the ferry from Port Angeles to Victoria BC as a delightful side trip. The large front porch afforded a view of the Strait of Juan De Fuca as well as an enjoyable place to sit and watch the wildlife. The property was also close to the Discovery biking and hiking trail which we utilized on several occasions including a ride from Sequim to Port Angeles. Additionally, the owner was responsive and accessible. Overall…just a great place to stay!
We are rebuilding our house only 8 houses away from the verb so it was very easy to be on site daily. we also enjoyed the fact that we were in our own neighborhood.
house was just as advertised. very chill neighborhood with friendly neighbors. beach access was great (dont nap on the 15 minute walk version via hemlock street). great yard. we will be back!

About the host
Hosted by Jay Lazerwitz
Jay is an architect with his own practice and is also an artist; painting in encaustic (with beeswax), printmaking, and log carving. I am passionate about hiking, bicycling, skiing, camping and sea kayaking.
Why they chose this property
Over the years, I have rented cabins near Sequim several times and have grown very fond of this area because there is so much to explore along with quiet relaxation. The mountains are nearby, yet the distance between mountains and shore is vast and offers much opportunities for walks and hikes. Some of my favorite places are the Miller Peninsula state park, located adjacent to the property; the Discovery trail (35+ mile bike route); and many hikes in the Olympic National Park and Buckhorn Wilderness. Port Townsend is 25 minutes away, with weekend events all through the summer and fall. The Sequim area has a low amount of rainfall, located in a rain-shadow, with more sun than other places in the region, making this a great place for outdoor recreation.
What makes this property unique
I remember stepping onto the huge porch when I first visited the property, experiencing the silence and a deep feeling of peace; viewing the garden, Strait of Juan de Fuca, and mountains and islands beyond. It is always a wonderful experience, full of so much to see and explore. The property is adjacent to over 2000 acres of undeveloped land, full of trails and mature trees. As well there are no neighbors to two other sides. Within a month, I became the owner and with every visit since then, that sense of calm and space has grown. It is always so wonderful to be on the front east-facing porch, or in the backyard paying attention to the birds' songs.
