About this property
3 bed house with 2.5 bathrooms, AC. Short walk to beach, shops, cafes and golf
Brisa del Mar is a 3-storey townhouse located on Hole 14 (Hoyo 14) of Nuevo Portil golf course. It has 1 double bedroom with en suite bathroom, 2 twin bedrooms, separate shower room and ground floor cloakroom. The two terraces and secure garden are south-facing and not overlooked.
TOURISTIC LICENSING: This house is fully licensed, insured and compliant with the Spanish tax authority and police legislation for tourist rentals. This also ensures that contents and essential safety features are professionally checked and maintained for our guests.
INTERNET: To keep our prices competitive we don’t provide internet or Wi-fi and find that most guests are happy to use their data roaming on a mobile phone or visit one of the local cafes and bars for larger downloads. That said, we do have a good wireless router in the lounge that takes pre-paid or pay-as-you go SIM cards. These are the mini sized ones (NOT standard or micro) such for 'Lebara', which can be purchased and activated at large stores like Carrefour and Media Markt.
The kitchen has granite worktops, crockery and cutlery for 12 settings plus all the utensils you would expect to use. There is a covered (dry) utility with washing machine, iron and ironing board, plus beach sun loungers and some cleaning equipment.
The lounge has 2 leather sofas (3+2 seaters), footstool and a wicker arm chair, 36” TV (no English TV - sorry), a Bluetooth music docking station, books, games and wood burning stove (no logs provided). The dining area has seating for six.
Each bedroom has ample storage with coat hangers, a hairdryer, mirror, chair, 2 towels per guest and white poly-cotton bed linen.
The patio garden is south facing, mainly tiled with some feature plants. There is a table with six chairs plus a roll-out sun canopy. Please note that there is no barbeque as all types of BBQ are prohibited on the Hoyo 14 estate.
There are 2 private terraces off of two of the bedrooms, each with two sun loungers, cushions and a table. The master bedroom has a roll-out sun canopy for more shade if needed.
Also included at the property are 4 beach loungers, 2 bicycles and secure, allocated underground parking. For a small handling fee per stay we have a travel cot, high chair, pushchair, golf clubs and golf trolleys. Please ask for more details. There are two stair gates (no fee) in the property that can be placed in various locations if needed.
There is a large communal swimming pool and toddler pool with lifeguard usually open from June to mid-September. The community management does change the opening dates occasionally so please check in advance if the pool is vital for your stay. Please note that there are strict daily opening times and it's closed for the siesta hours. There are three padel tennis courts on site (free to use) and we have four padel bats at the house. There are usually spare tennis balls in the hall cupboard.
Also in the hall cupboard for guest use are two beach parasols, some 'belly boards', pool noodles, buckets and spades, plus other beach bits and pieces. There is also a selection of books for your use.
The fabulous beach, bars (for free wifi) and restaurants are an easy 10 to 15 minute easy walk. Other local activities include bird watching, water sports, horse riding, karting and a seasonal water park.
General Golf Information: Compared to the Western Algarve and the Costa del Sol, golfing opportunities on the Costa de la Luz are as yet relatively undiscovered. Green fees are considerably lower (from €25 a round at our local course after 2pm) and the courses less crowded, making it much easier to get a start time that you want and play a round in reasonable time. Most Golf courses in the area have practice facilities where you are able to hire balls to loosen up. You can play in both Spain and Portugal and all are very easy to get to and give a wide range of different course to satisfy all tastes. Please be aware that most Spanish and Portuguese courses require soft spikes. Buggies and trolleys are usually available for hire.
Local courses: Nuevo Portil: This course winds through the houses and pine trees in Nuevo Portil. It offers a pleasant walk that isn't too tiring and is a good test of golf for all levels of player. The 11th hole is worth a mention it is a par 5 with a small lake in the front right.
El Rompido (North & South): Less than 10 mins drive away finds these 2 spectacular championship courses set amongst pines, olive trees & marshland. Both courses are a very good test of golf especially if the sea breeze picks up. Look out for the marsh crabs underneath the bridge crossing the marsh on the South course. The south course has hosted a number of professional events and has also been used for the final of the Daily Mail foursomes.
Bellavista (Duhesa golf):
The is the oldest members club in Spain (founded 1916) Bellavista is a true members club in the British style. More undulating than many in the coastal area and a challenge for most golfers, the course belies its par of just 70.
Islantilla:
This 27 hole course staged the 1996 Turespana Open and provides 3 challenging loops of 9 holes. The course varies from tight tree lined fairways with small, fast greens, to open views of the Huelva coastline with challenging shots over water to target greens. The course meanders through the pine trees and will lead you to believe you are the only golfers there. Some of the holes are lined with accommodation and with a large slice your ball could visit a swimming pool, mine did. The course is easy to find and is about 20 minutes drive away from Brisa del Mar.
Isla Canela: Although relatively new, the course has been integrated with surrounding coastal features; winding through an area of tidal salt marsh. It is largely flat, so will provide a leisurely walk for those who prefer not to slog up hill and down dale, yet also provides an enjoyable golfing challenge. The course is easy to find and is about 30 minutes drive away from Brisa del Mar.

About the host
Hosted by Jacky and Chris Nelson

Jacky and Chris Nelson are currently living near London but have strong links with the South West of the UK and Coventry. When we are not working, we are usually enjoying the out-doors camping, playing golf, sailing and on the beach.
Why they chose this property
We had been looking for a holiday home across Europe but most places were too small or too far from the beach, golf and restaurants. We also wanted to avoid the overcrowded 'lego land' developments that can be found on some of the more well known Costas.
A chance find on the internet led us to this unspoilt and traditionally Spanish area which ticked all the boxes plus some.
It's rare now to find an affordable house with good size bedrooms and garden space that is genuinely walking distance from the beach and golf - but we have managed it and we love it.
We always planned to rent the house when we weren't able to be there and felt that this would be a fantastic place for all sorts of families and groups of friends to enjoy.

What makes this property unique
The drive to the property is alongside the sea and the views are stunning; we were nearly sold on that alone.
When we realised we could see the see from the terraces, had year round sunshine in the south facing garden plus a pergola for my bougainvillea and grape vine - we had to have it.
Most of the bars and restaurants are Spanish giving a real experience of local food and tradition. No English breakfasts or fish and chip shops here.
So, if like us, you want a fantastic beach, bars, restaurants and golf all within easy walking distance and still experience the unique friendly culture of the Spanish, this is the area for you.
