About this property
Old Time Beach House with Modern Amenities
In 1956 my parents bought a shore house in Stone Harbor on seven mile island. All eight of the children grew up there in the summers. The simplicity and beauty of the house became part of our lives and our hearts. Life was simpler then with lots of sun, sand and good food. When my Dad died and left us the house we didn’t want to change a thing about it, as if that could somehow bring us back to the joyous past. It really can’t bring you back but the house is as simple today as it was in 1955 when we bought it. We have added a new kitchen, air conditioning, cable tv, internet and a better heating system for the winter, but the feel of the place is still 1960 strong. If you are looking for the seashore the way it used to be come and share our house

We enjoyed renting this home for the week. Walked everywhere-to beach and town. Comfortable beds and lots of amenities. A historic home, well-maintained and full of love.

Great Location….. good beach gear….but…..
Linens and towels are plentiful but many are torn. Outside shower does not have proper handles and is rusty. Never in 30 years of renting beach properties have I been asked to wash, dry and fold linens before leaving. Nor have I ever rented where a cleaning crew did not come in between tenants.
We had a fantastic week for our annual SH family vacation. Plenty of room for our group of 7. What a treat not to have to pack linens and towels!! The house was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed. I especially appreciated the many beach chairs and the beach cart in the garage. The location is superb and I could just imagine the years of family memories the owners have shared at this home.
PS lack of AC was not an issue as the nightly ocean breeze kept us cool!
Stone Harbor, old-school! Lovely house; enjoyed sitting on the porch at night. Nicely equipped kitchen, and lots of amenities (linens, towels, beach toys); plus we really loved being so close to the beach.
The house was perfect for our family of 5. The porch was wonderful for enjoying quiet evenings in, the house itself was immaculate. It has clearly been lovingly maintained. It reminded me very much of the house I grew up going to 40 years ago.

Old-Fashioned Beach House
If you're looking for an old fashioned place to stay in Stone Harbor, this is a great little house. The house does not set out to be fancy. It's old school. But it has everything for a fun week at the beach. Also a great location and lots of things like bikes, beach chairs, towels are already there so it's very convenient. Great place!

The best memories our family had were made at this house in Stone Harbor!
Our family rented this wonderful beach house for several summers. It was our home away from home where we would reconnect and decompress! We even spent an Easter weekend and a winter get-away!
The warmth in this home was evident through the family photos and comfortable furniture. There was plenty of space for relatives to relax and enjoy watching the ocean from the roof top deck or the cozy screened in porch.
Another favorite was the fabulous outdoor shower! I would call this our "home away from home".
You do not have to bring anything except your clothing, the wonderful owners supply anything you need, from comfy linens to crisp towels and beach chairs! And it's just a short walk to the beach!
Love it here.

Home away from home
This was my second trip to Stone Harbor at this beach house, and hopefully not my last. The place is charming and full of character. Very clean! Everything is there - beach chairs, bikes, towels (beach and bath), linens, wi-fi, outside showers, fireplace - you name it. And so close to the beach!

Wonderful time in a house with with old time charm
We had a wonderful week in Stone Harbor. The house had everything we needed for our trip from chairs to umbrellas to towels and was close to everything (5th house from the beach, only a few blocks to the restaurants and shops of 96th street). Sleeping arrangements are exactly as described (1 BR with 3 twins, 1BR with two twins, 1BR with a full bed and 1BR with twin bunks) - which was perfect for us. AC and ceiling fans did the trick when it got hot. House had modern amenities, but still had the charm of how Stone Harbor probably used to be (much of the rest of the block has been razed and replaced with lovely, but extremely large and not-so-modest homes).
The house was well maintained and the owners were super responsive. Definitely recommended. Wireless internet was fast enough for our work purposes (and streaming to our iPads from Netflix and Amazon prime). I assume the TV worked too, but never even tried.

Great Stay
We had never used a rental property before, but this was perfect. The owner was amazing, she kept in contact, and was wonderful to deal with. The house was very clean and just great, it was the perfect mix of older Americana style, charm, and down home feel with new amenities and the location was also perfect. Literally a 45 second walk to get to the beach! We would very highly recommend this property to anyone and will be renting it again! We had absolutely no bad experiences from anything, even the neighbors, who owned the house next door, were very friendly and came over and introduced themselves and made sure everything was ok, even during the one day that we had storms and high winds they came over the night before to make sure we had seen the weather and the warnings and make sure we would be ok.
Definitely a great rental with a great owners in the perfect neighborhood!
About the host
Hosted by Eileen Talone
We grew up in Ardmore, Pa and we were fortunate enough to summer in Stone Harbor from the 50s through the 90s. We all live in Philadelphia and the suburbs and share our shore home.
Why they chose this property
Our father and his many siblings visited Stone Harbor back in 1918, and kept coming back, renting when they could through the years, After renting my parents bought this house for their growing family in 1955. It wasn't unusual to have 15 or 20 people for dinner. This has been a special home for family and friends through the years.
What makes this property unique
At five houses from the beach, it is an easy walk for young children and older adults. This is a comfortable home with a great bath house for a warm shower after a long day at the beach. Relax with a cocktail on the front porch and listen to the sound of the ocean while you wait for whoever's turn it is to cook dinner.
