We had a most amazing time at 1798!! We were a group of 8 adults who have been getting together for the past 10 years, and this place was the best of all our rentals. We enjoyed the comfortable sofas and roomy dining table. Kitchen very well equipped for cooking, and it was large enough for several of us to prepare dinner together. The sunrises and views of the ocean from the deck were special. The hostess/owners were very responsive to our needs. Location to Blue Hill to buy seafood and to Acadia National Park was good. We are already talking of returning when the pool is open.
We stay in a lot of VRBO (and the other one) homes. This was the best. I don’t know that the photos do it justice. It was perfect in every way and the deck views were incredible. My kids would wake up every morning and couldn’t wait to look at passing boats, birds, seals through the binoculars. Grandma was with us as well - it is a house built for multi-generational families: first floor accommodation for Grandma, cute kid accommodations and bath upstairs, plus three other rooms upstairs for adults or older kids. We really enjoyed the expansive space that gave everyone an opportunity to find a spot for some quiet time whether it was on the hammock, at the well appointed pool area, in the basement (with the 65” screen TV!), climbing the rocks (both easy and harder options) down to the water to enjoy the tide coming in / going out, or on the deck where we enjoyed morning coffee and many dinners. There was plenty of seating indoors and outdoors for family meals. We spent most of the time at the house because it was so comfortable. It was spotlessly clean when we arrived, the pool, lawn and flower beds were meticulously maintained. We had everything we needed. The kitchen was incredibly well stocked, best I’ve seen in a vacation rental. The basement had a large assortment of toys, puzzles, Legos, games, kids books, plus a small piano and foosball table to keep the kids entertained. It felt remote but there were lobster shops, grocery stores, and restaurants within 12 minutes.
