About this property

2 bedroom Oceanfront Condo

Tidepool is one of three Tide Watch Properties suites located on the Quietside of Mount Desert Island in the town of Southwest Harbor. It is an ADA-compliant unit. Just steps away from the Atlantic Ocean, the property borders the Seawall Entrance to Acadia National Park and adjoins a pine forest and a freshwater pond which provides ample opportunities for bird watching and scenic photography.

Our unit, Tidepool, sits directly on Seawall Pond overlooking Seawall and the ocean!
One King bedroom with ensuite bathroom, a queen bedroom, and a full pull-out couch.
A livingroom, fully stocked kitchen and full dining table with 24/7 amazing views!

-The ONLY accommodations directly on one of the most picturesque spots on the island, Seawall. (Recent road closure on Seawall gives our guests front-row access to the unique spot!)
-Walking distance to Charlotte's Legendary Lobster Pound
-5 minutes from downtown Southwest Harbor
-10 minutes to Bass Harbor Lighthouse
-25 minutes to Acadia Park Cadillac Mountain Entrance
-30 minutes to Downtown Bar Harbor
- Lots of hiking in every direction!
-Great location for stargazing!

The Seawall is a naturally occurring granite, loose boulder and rock seawall with easy shore walks and tidepools to explore. The property sits directly across from it and is a short distance to the park's picnic area. From the apartment's balcony, you can watch the waves crash on the rugged shoreline and watch the sunrise over the Great Cranberry Island. On a clear night, it is one of the best places in the country for stargazing. A fully immersive experience with the night sounds of the waves.

We wanted to get away, to experience ocean, to have privacy, quiet, and comfort. We got that & more.
Tidewatch Properties has a real gem in these vacation condos. The accommodations and furnishings are first rate. We were blown away, as were those who visited during our stay. The adjacent fresh water pond provides wildlife and ecosystem discoveries that were unexpected and became a highlight of our magical time at Seawall.

Great place

A Slice of Heaven in Maine!
What a beautiful location and a wonderful property! I am so happy that we stayed here at Tidepool. This lovely location just south of the town of Southwest Harbor is located on the quiet side of the island. The property is top notch. It is clean, well appointed and very comfortable. The deck overlooks a pond with a clear and beautiful view of the Atlantic. The apartment has two well sized bedrooms with queen beds, as well as a sleeper sofa in the living area. There are two nice bathrooms (one is handicapped accessible). The open concept living, dining and kitchen area is bright and open and a perfect family space. You can walk across the street to catch a breathtaking sunrise or sit on the deck and watch the abundance of bird life. My family loved this property and the location - so glad we stayed here! Thanks to Dave and all who were so helpful!

Great place. Would definitely come back there
The place is great. It's designed beautifully and inviting. It has all the needed amenities to make the stay comfortable and relaxing. The owners also are very nice and responsive. The view from the house is very nice and there is a lot of available parking. Would definitely recommend the place.

About the host

Welcome to the Quietside. We are a small, family run motel located just outside of Southwest Harbor on the ‘Quietside of the island’, removed from the boisterous atmosphere of Bar Harbor. Protected by the solitude of the park, we are still in a convenient location, situated three miles from both Southwest Harbor and Bass Harbor restaurants and services.

Why they chose this property

The ‘Quietside’ is the less commercialized and more family-oriented west side of Mount Desert Island. We border one of the more serene entrances to Acadia National Park and are the only ocean-front accommodation on Seawall, a destination in itself. Protected by the solitude of the park, we are still in a convenient location, situated three miles from both Southwest Harbor and Bass Harbor restaurants and services. In addition to the very popular hiking trails, Ship Harbor and Wonderland, the Bass Harbor lighthouse is just a couple of miles away. If an ice cream sundae, glass of wine, or a cozy latte is more your cup of tea, the downtown district of Southwest Harbor is nearby with quaint shops, restaurants, and local attractions certain to delight all ages. Additionally, if you're looking for a delicious lobster roll and a unique experience, Charlotte's Legendary Lobster Pound is within walking distance!

What makes this property unique

We are the only ocean-front accommodation over-looking Seawall! With a recent road closure directly on the most scenic part of the Seawall, our guests will have special access to this unique landscape. Seawall pond and the ocean provide opportunities for bird watching, exploring tidepools, and is one of the best spots for stargazing.
