We really enjoyed our stay at this property. It's a short walk into town that helps you burn off some of that great ice cream + lobster! We also discovered that the Sand Beach bus line passes right by this property on its way back into town, which cuts out walking time if you're tired from hiking in Acadia.

Hi Matthew, Thank you for your the nice review. We are glad you had a great stay! That is a great tip about the bus - we'll be sure to alert people in the future, Pete
This house is exactly as described. It's very cozy and close to everything Bar Harbor has to offer. The location was perfect! It had everything we needed for it stay. I was worried that it would be too hot but we were perfectly fine during this week in late July.
This home is positioned perfectly in a quiet residential area of Bar Harbor easily within walking distance of “downtown” Bar Harbor restaurants and shops. The furnishings are clean and comfortable and it has a large kitchen for cooking if one desires. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Thank you for your nice review. We hope tp make everyone comfortable and keep the house easy and affordable.
Chic In Town was a great place to stay for our family of five. We enjoyed the close proximity to town and to Acadia. We were able to hit the trails in Acadia early, come back to house to rest and then walk to town for dinner and ice cream (one of the highlights of the trip)! The owners were responsive and available which helped us settle in with ease. Thanks for an awesome week!

We are so glad you had a great week. Thaks for the review, and we hope you can come back soon.
We had a great stay at this adorable house. We walked to shops and restaurants and only got in our car to go on hikes and explore the island. Please note that if you have mobility issues that the bedrooms are all on the second floor and the bathroom is on the first floor. Not a problem for us but be aware. We would gladly stay here again!

Thank you for your kind words, Amanda. We are glad you had a great stay!
We left our car in the driveway all week and walked into town and to the IslandExplorer. House is exactly as described in the post - plus blueberry bushes in the front yard. A few more mixing bowls in the kitchen would be great. Cheers.

Thank you Nathan, we are glad you had a great time. We'll get right on those mixing bowls! :)
This house is definitely best for its location. We walked to dinner and shops every night-10 minute walk to everything! Drive into national park is 10 minutes. House was clean and well stocked, I really love when I don’t have to buy bath tissue, paper towels, detergent, trash bags etc-this house had it all! Owners very responsive when we emailed with a minor issue.
The lack of AC did lead to a few warm nights but I feel this is typical of homes in Bar Harbor.
Overall a 5 star stay!

Thank you for your kind words and for being a wonderful visitor. We are glad you had a great time, Peter & Margaret
Nice, well-equiped home. Perfectly situated for our needs, 15 minute drive to the top of Cadillac Mtn and short walk to downtown Bar Harbor. Owner very speedy in responding to our questions. Only drawback was the beds, older and not very comfortable. Living room needed dusting. None of this would keep me from renting this home again, though.

Great Stay in Bar Harbor
This house was great. It was very clean when we arrived, and we loved the look of the little house. Peter was very responsive throughout the process and provided us with any info we asked for. He even came by on our first morning to make sure we got in okay the night before. The bedrooms are a nice size and the kitchen was nicely stocked with all the necessary appliances and stuff. The only thing to keep in mind is that the one bathroom in the house is on the first floor. We noticed this in the listing and didn't find this to be an issue, but just something worth pointing out. The house is about a 10 minute walk to the village green, and we walked it almost every day when we went into town for dinner. It's in a very cute little neighborhood and we loved being able to walk into town. A couple of years ago we stayed at a hotel on Eden Street, but we much preferred this stay in this house. Having the extra space and the kitchen to eat breakfast and lunch in was fantastic. I would definitely recommend this house to anyone looking to stay in Bar Harbor.

Thank you, Laura for the kind review. It was nice meeting you and your family, and we hope you have many happy visits to the area. Thank you for taking such good care of our house,
Peter and Margaret
We had a great stay at Peter and Margaret’s place. We were a family of four with a toddler and elementary school student, and our proximity to the playground, shops, and trails was key to getting out the door without too much fuss. It was great to be able to walk or bike where we wanted to go., and to be 10-25 minutes from most points on MDI. The location could not be more convenient. The house as all of the basics and uses space well. With two active kids, we were grateful for the porch and deck spaces and the front lawn. Peter was extremely responsive when we had a minor plumbing issue and had it sorted within an hour.
Parents of young kids and others who need adaptive support to maneuver up stairs, note there is no hand railing on the staircase to the second floor bedrooms.

A/C Needed
The weather in Maine was hot and we only had fans, no A/C. The house was OK, built around 1940 with all the "charm". The best part was the location to town and all that Bar Harbor has to offer.
We had a lovely stay in Bar Harbor. This property is a wonderful location...walking distance to town and a short drive to Acadia. The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed to have lobster dinners at home!
Snug cottage with easy access to Acadia and Bar Harbor
Everything was clean and in good working order on our arrival and the check in and check out process was super easy. Parking is tight in Bar Harbor so we were glad to be able to walk to shops and restaurants from the cottage. It's a little bit of a walk (10-15 mins) but better than fighting for a parking place. We also enjoyed an easy hike to the Sieur de Monts area of Acadia from the house. The kitchen is spacious and well-equipped (the knives were even sharp!!). There is a cute little deck with a working propane grill right off the kitchen that we enjoyed. A few things to note: there is only one bathroom and it's downstairs, the house has no air conditioning and only some small window fans that don't push much air; if it's a hot day it can become unpleasantly hot in the house because it sits mostly in the full sun and it can get very warm in there midday. Finally, there is comfortable seating for only four people in the living room even though the house sleeps five. We enjoyed our stay overall but you should factor those things in when making your choice.
Perfect location, close enough walk to everything you would want to do, but also on a quiet street so it is peaceful in the evenings to just sit out on the deck. Cottage is very clean and has everything you need. Owners are very responsive if you need them and very friendly.
This was a great spot to stay in Bar Harbor. 10 minute walk to downtown and 4-5 minutes in the car to Acadia. The house is in great shape, we’ll appointed, and immaculate. Highly recommend!
This is our second year staying at Chic In Town and we loved it this year just as much as last year. The location is perfect. We had quick access to Acadia and walked to town each evening for dinner and ice cream. Check in and out was easy. And the homeowners are very responsive which allowed us to quickly settle in and enjoy our vacation.
We had a great stay at Peter and Margaret's house, the highlight of which was the super nearby playground for our almost five year old. They completely rescued us when we didn't realize the knob lock was turned and our son came out onto the porch, thereby locking us out. The house is far enough to feel peaceful and out of the hustle/bustle of Bar Harbor, but near enough to walk into town. Cadillac Mountain entrance was a 5 minute drive! So we ended up doing the summit twice (book in advance!). And were able to go to Jordan Pond a bunch of times (go early or late for parking!). The downstairs only bathroom was the only downside for those of us who get up in the night, but it's not like they keep that hidden. We did find the beds somewhat uncomfortable, it might be time for new mattresses. Otherwise, the house was ideal in every way. We even walked to the grocery rather than battle with in town traffic. We were very sad to leave after such a wonderful, peaceful, relaxing week.
We had a nice stay at this house. Easy walk into town and you can access hiking in the park as well... We hiked up Cadillac right from the house! The neighborhood was quiet and nice to walk around in.
House was perfect for our family of 5. Comfortable, clean and a great hub for our activities in Bar Harbor and Acadia. Location is amazing, a short walk to restaurants and shops in town and a short car ride to the park. Highly recommend.
My family, including my children ages 5 and 6, visited Bar Harbor and stayed in this house to explore Acadia. The location was perfect- we were minutes from several park entrances and after all the driving it takes to navigate within the park we could return home and park the car. If we didn’t grill dinner and relax on the porch we were a short walk to many kid friendly restaurants. There is an amazing playground a block away and we had a relaxing and easy walk to the green for ice cream and shopping as well. I highly recommend and would definitely stay again if we return in the future.
