Cotinet was a wine and Pineau farm, built in 1843. Now it is a beautiful country house with character and renovated with taste. The main house sits on a large courtyard surrounded by barns. All this is on a large plot (7ha or 17 acres) with fields all around and a private fishing lake. The views are stunning. The 100-metres long private access way brings you to the courtyard closed with a gate.
The house consists of a large fully equipped kitchen, easily seating 10 people, 2 living rooms with fireplaces, 5 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and 3 toilets. Obviously the house has satellite TV (200+ channels), free WIFI and a powerful music soundbar for streaming your own music.
Cotinet has also many features outside: a brand new private heated pool (8x4) with a large new terrace, all day in the sun and with magnificent views on the fields and the lake; a "games barn" with a ping pong table, a shuffle board, darts, kubb, badminton net; a new pétanque field, lighted for playing in the late hours and ... a private fishing lake for your leisure (bring your own gear please). At the kitchen, lunch and dinner (or a barbecue on the available Weber set) can be served outside on a large table made from wood of the farm accompanied by modern 'box' chairs. Siesta can be taken on the deck at the pool or swinging in a hammock in the shade of two beautiful sycamore trees.
This little paradise is situated in the south of the Charente, at the border of the Dordogne with many attractions and villages around. The sportive traveller can play on a 9-hole golf court (Longeveau) about 9kms from Cotinet, can play tennis (Longeveau) or can rent a kayak in Aubeterre-sur-Dronne (9kms). There are many mountain bike trails starting from Aubeterre. You can also rent a 2CV at Aubeterre and take a beautiful drive throughout the marvellous landscape.
Cotinet is the right place to visit some remarkable places like Bordeaux and Arcachon with the highest dune in Europe (2 hours drive) or driving north to Oradour-sur-Glane (1hrs40). You can take a guided tour in the cognac wineries (of course don't forget tasting) in Cognac (45 min) or explore the Dordogne (Brântome, the caves of Lascaux, Rocamadour). Finally the Atlantic is about 2 hours drive (Royan, La Rochelle).
Since we consider service to our customers extremely important you will find at the house very detailed documentation with all activities and attractions in the surroundings. Additionally we will provide a list of restaurants and shops. This way you can spend your time exploring everything the region has to offer. Talking about service, most importantly, we have hired a local company (Holiday Home Care) that takes care of professional cleaning of the house in between guests (mandatory extra cost of 200 euro per booking), provides bed and bath linen, but also shows you around at arrival and is available 24/7 for emergency service.
