Great cabin for hosting a family with kids or a small group of adults! Excellent view of Coralville Lake, comfortable beds, fully stock kitchen utensils, and beautiful deck! Will definitely be back!
We loved the space, beautiful location and great for a get together with family and friends, highly recommend and the host was fabulous with communication!
Great place to stay for a long weekend while attending a family wedding
Great location with access to hiking trails, beach, lake view. Close to a cute town with restaurants and shops, as well as an easy drive to the University of Iowa campus
It was a perfect location for getting together with some parts of the family staying in RVs at the state park and some staying in the house. Some folks walked between the RV park and the house.
Very nice. The only thing is mother nature made the trail down to the lake to swampy to walk.
Over all great except the hot water quit working on day two.

Great location
Had a great weekend with family enjoying the natural surroundings. Only complaint would be the beds, they were not comfortable and no one really got a good night sleep because of it. Other than that it was well stocked with everything we could possibly need.
My family had a different reason for seeking peace on our trip to the area. We were in town for a family funeral, and this little piece of heaven was exactly what we needed. The cabin was very welcoming, had what we needed, and had the peace that was very welcomed during this difficult time. We were close to events and family in Solon, but had a quiet, peaceful place to let down. The lake was a short walk from the property, with a convenient trail for walking, running, and enjoying nature.
Beautiful property and wonderful accommodations! The property owner was easy to communicate with and very accommodating for our change in number of guests staying. A stone’s throw from Lake MacBride state park, there are hiking trails, beaches and fishing areas close by. Kayaks available on the property to drop into the lake, a deck to enjoy early morning coffee and chatting, and a fire ring out back for the quiet evenings. There was plenty of space for our family to spread out, and we had a great time! The private trail to the beach was unusable due to the rain, but trail heads nearby led to a beach, so we didn’t miss out! A lovely week outdoors at a beautiful cabin!
We stayed in the month of December to celebrate my wife's upcoming 60th birthday with the family. The house is approx. 30 minutes from the Amana Colonies which is a must during the Christmas season. Because it was December and cold, we did not get to participate in many of the lake activities. However, we did enjoy going on a walk in the State Park and enjoyed playing games at the house by the fireplace.
We had a fantastic time with friends and family. We were in Iowa City celebrating the marriage of our daughter and new son! We had plenty of room for sleeping and enjoying each other.
Check in and communication with Lisa was easy. We asked about the kayaks and they were moved to a very accessible location for our stay. The property was in a perfect location for our needs – close to Cedar Rapids Airport and also Iowa city. We were there for a family gathering and the night everyone came over it was about 11 of us. There were plenty of tables and chairs for everyone to eat dinner on the deck. The cabin was thoughtfully supplied with extras of everything we needed – toilet paper, paper, towel, towels, gas canisters for the gas grill, charcoal for the Weber. The kitchen had most everything we needed to cook some simple meals. The bed in the upstairs main bedroom was a bit noisy, and we found it was perfect to sleep with earplugs in the downstairs master. Our dog loved retrieving tennis balls that we would throw off of the upper deck down onto the expansive lawn.It was nice to have a washer and dryer to use as we stayed in the cabin in the middle of a long road trip and had plenty of dirty clothes to wash. When we checked in, we were informed about a faulty garbage disposal in the kitchen, so it wasn’t a surprise and we managed to get by just fine.

Family Cabin Trip
We take a family cabin trip every summer and this year we stayed in Iowa. Not too many places to find on a lake so I was excited when I found this one. Bonus was the nearby State Park!I was a little disappointed to see that while it was near the lake, you really didn't have the lake feel we were all expecting. You had to walk down to the water and couldn't see the lake through the trees. The cabin itself was nice and had everything we needed. We did have an issue with the garbage disposal and sub pump which were both brought up with the owner. Kind of made you jump when the toilet would "burp" like it was going to explode. Both were going to be taken care of but we had to ignore the issues during our stay. The owner was very prompt with responses and instructions were very clear. Had no issues at all!Gave a little lower score due to the disappointment with the view of the lake, some issues, and a little cleanliness with the bedding in the lower bedroom.
What a unique property. The different floor levels told its own story and feel to it. Never made it down to the water, but the open yard in the back was perfect for the dogs to play. Great for a larger family. Thanks for the memories.
We went for an annual big family vacation and really enjoyed our stay. The house was comfortable and an easy drive to different areas of interest. Would stay again.
Nice property nestled in a semi secluded setting with local conveniences close by. We saw lots of nature and enjoyed relaxing. If you like the water, this area is the place to be.
Organized an escape for my book club! We appreciated the plentiful seating, functional kitchen, and quiet location. Little touches like extra fans helped make everyone comfortable for temperature and white noise.
My mother, sister, niece, and I take a girl’s weekend every year. We look for unique houses in locations where there an interesting places to explore. This house perfectly fit the bill. Host was nice and responsive without being overbearing. One thing I think is important for future renters to know is that the main living area and kitchen are up a flight of stairs. Location is beautiful and Lake MacBride offers a lot to do.
I grew up in Iowa near here and enjoyed the family picnics at the state park. My extended family is still in the area! We now live in downtown Chicago, and this retreat is a great escape from our hectic lives.
Why they chose this property
My family has been enjoying Lake MacBride since it first opened. My grandmother told me about her experiences growing up and enjoying the lake so she made sure to bring her children. My mother has great stories of Lake MacBride and the Coralville Reservoir and she made sure to bring me and my brothers! Now a fourth generation, my own daughters, are growing up with peace and tranquility because of this fabulous property.
What makes this property unique
