Booked this house for 10 family members that were traveling up for a family reunion from over 4 hours away. As it got closer I did not receive any check-in notifications/messages from the host. I sent messages starting 2 days before check-in. The host never responded. I called VRBO on the day of check-in and they were wonderful with assisting me. The host was unresponsive to them. We saw a car and people at the house on our way over so we stopped and they informed us they had booked the house for 2 weeks and were leaving on Monday (we booked for Friday-Monday). They stated they had been doing this for a couple years with the owner/host and booked it last October. The host should have never had the house as available and it got double booked. Thankfully we were visiting family and were able to make other arraignments last minute as there was nothing else available in the area for our timeframe. I found out that this was not the first time that this situation had happened with this host which makes this even worse.
