Lovely 2 bedroom, 2 bath cottage, sunroom with water views, large living room, cable and high-speed internet. (See Amenities section for details.) , kitchen appliances, central AC, gas stove and heat, ceiling fans, TV, master bath, fully furnished, *New septic system Aug2022, outside tiki shower under the stars. Off-street parking and a nice yard with a charcoal and new gas grill for outdoor cooking. And it's just 60 steps from the beach!
Broadkilll Beach is a hidden gem on the Delaware Bay. Drive through the PrimeHook Wildlife Refuge (check this out!) to a small strip of beach that is ‘The Broadkill’. It goes approximately 2 miles in both directions from the main cross street. This is a great place to get your run in. There is only one commercial property that the locals call 'The Mall', where you can get most everything that you might need to enhance your stay. You might feel, at times, that you have the beach to yourself! The people of the area are terrific, friendly and make you feel welcome. When you need to be near the hustle and bustle of the popular shore points, it's only a short drive away. Wander over rte 16 to the little town of Milton or make your way south on rte 1 towards the beaches of Lewes, Cape Henlopen, Rehoboth, Dewey, and Bethany. Take a 90 minute ferry boat ride on the Cape May/Lewes Ferry out of Cape Henlopen. Spend the day in victorian Cape May, New Jersey. Take your car, bicycle or just walk aboard. There is a trolly on the other side that can take you to town. Get some fresh, right off the boat, scallops at the dockside restaurant at The Lobster House. Of course, you have to play some boardwalk skeeball or you could wait until you get back to Rehoboth to try your hand at that at Funland. The SeaShell shop miniature golf always looks fun, back on Rte 1 in Delaware, or maybe you want to check out all of the outlets. Save the outlets for a rainy day as well as the movie theater that is close by too. For us, a fun day at the beach is always great; Maybe have your morning coffee on the bench overlooking the bay;start in the morning with a walk to look for seashells; ride the waves; rent a paddleboard or soak up some Vitamin D; then a cookout - I can smell the charcoal-maybe some juicy cheeseburgers tonight? and don't forget the smores. On a clear night, look up and see the billions of stars that you won't ever see at home! It's amazing! Open all the windows at night so you can hear the waves while you have the best night's sleep ever! HAVE FUN!!

My family of 6 had a great stay at the cottage! It was just steps to the beach and had everything we needed for a great stay. Lynn was a great host. She was quick to respond to my questions and made some great restaurant recommendations.
Layout was awesome- easy to talk to everyone wherever they are in the house. Loved the shower outside- made it so easy to get the sand off before going inside.
We had a nice , relaxing stay. Property manager made us feel comfortable and cared for. We love this sleepy beach town and the property was perfect for our small family
Are some of the fixtures/ furnishings out of date, yes, but functioning and comfortable, and as pictured/ advertised. And the location and pleasantness of the host cannot be beat.
Overall we had a great time at the Cottage by the Bay! The property is very close to the beach access and was never crowded. The property was surprisingly bigger than the pictures made it out to look and definitely fit 6 adults comfortably. The amenities were great, specially the outdoor shower, and overall Lynn is a very pleasant person to talk with. She made check in and check out easy and answered any questions we had. I would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a nice Delaware beach trip. For the price you cannot find much better!
Broadkill beach is ideal for a low key, relaxing vacation. No boardwalk crowds to contend with; it was like having a private beach. For early risers, you can walk out of this house and within seconds be sitting on a bench at the dunes to watch the sun come up over the bay. The house owner is very friendly and helpful in suggesting local restaurants. We had a great time!
Lovely, short walk to the bay where you can swim and enjoy nature. The broadkill store is a short walk to get donuts or ice cream. Lovely neighborhood. We enjoyed outlr stay and felt very relaxed.
We had a lovely time! We were in town for a sports tournament and had the opportunity to turn our stay into a mini vacation. This property was in the perfect location to enjoy our sports events and enjoy our time off. Steps from the beach made the evenings relaxing.
Cutest cottage by the bay. Cozy and clean. Location is semi-secluded, away from the hustle of the ocean beaches. Small beach town feel. Only a short trip to shopping and the boardwalk. Very relaxing and enjoyable.
We had a fabulous time staying at this Cottage. The size and location was perfect for us. Just steps from the beach with a nice sitting area, we watched the sunrise one clear morning. We loved the tiki room vibe enhanced with our tiki music playlist on Spotify. Perfectly situated for day trips to Rehobeth, Lewes, and the Cape May ferry, the Cottage is perfect for relaxing and adventuring. The host was fantastic and helpful, making sure our stay was enjoyable from booking to departure.
Quaint little cottage just steps away from the water. Great to stay with kids, but keep in mind, there's no washer/dryer, which makes it difficult to dry towels or wash kids' clothes. Could use some minor updates around the house, but overall clean and cozy.
I would have given this charming cottage five stars, except for one issue. We were not aware that we had to bring our own linens – sheets, pillow slips, towels, and beach towels – until after we paid the full amount. Other than that, it accommodated me, my daughter and two grandsons perfectly! The outdoor shower and area were great! It’s just a short walk to the beach, and there is a padded bench where you can sit and watch the sunrise (which the four of us did). The owners were only a text away, and answered quickly each time we had a question. We had a lovely time!
The four of us were absolutely thrilled with the accommodations themselves and the location of the property. The convenience of being so close to the beach in this very quiet community was amazing. We were able to take advantage of exploring the region on a few of our days there. So many things to see and do within an hour of the location. Our weather was perfect and we took advantage of cooking most meals which was a breeze with the kitchen amenities and grill.
We will return for sure.
Proximity to the beach can't be beat for the price. Cozy, cute cottage that worked perfectly for us. If you are looking for a quiet getaway in a sleepy beach town, this is the place.
Just check with the owners regarding the number and ages of guests. There was a bit of miscommunication that the listing Sleeps 6, but owner didn't want us to have 4 adults staying in the home. I'm not sure if it's an ongoing or new issue, but the septic is particularly precarious. You need to be very cautious about the water usage.
Again, super cute cottage in a great location with beach access. Just pay attention to the fine print in the listing.
**Note: There is no washer/dryer.
**Note: There are technically 2 bathrooms in the home, but only one functioning.

We expect that when you book 2 adults way in advance that it’s not really 4 just because the house sleeps 6.
The septic is a new issue and will be updated end of summer. It was supposed to be completed before rental season but contractors did not complete all that needed to be done. Quite unfortunate for all involved.
Correct there is no washer / dryer. This is a filterable item on vrbo if you would like to have this.
This was the perfect location- walking distance to the beach and super close to the Broadkill store! The owners are very kind and gave some great food recommendations as well! Highly recommend for a small family get away!
We had a wonderful time and Lynn was very responsive. Location location location! Not only was the beach just over the dunes but the only convenient store was just a minutes walk down the street which made such a difference with a three year old and newborn. Plus, the state beaches are a short drive away. It was our first family vacation to the beach since we had kids and we can’t imagine it having gone better. Definitely will consider coming here again. Thanks!!
This property was exactly what we were looking for! The house was perfect for our family of three. It had a retro/tiki/beach cottage vibe going on, which we loved! The house was clean and well organized. The kitchen had everything we needed for our cooked meals. Lynn, the host, was very helpful and communicated everything clearly. Be aware that there is not a washer/dryer which made drying our beach towels a little tricky, but there is a backyard which gets sun most of the day, so we dried everything the old fashioned way. The house is literally less than a minute's walk to Broadkill Beach which is a quiet, sparsely populated beach. The sunrises were amazing and the highlight of our beach time. The local store was also just a short walk away and we visited it most days for coffee or ice cream. We would book this property again in a heartbeat!
We had a great time at this property. The property was clean and we'll maintained. A minute from the beach with easy access. The beach itself was quiet, peaceful, and never crowded. A great place to truly relax and enjoy! The property owners, Rich and Lynn, were very responsive, and very helpful leading up to and during our stay. We would definitely return and recommend this beach and this property
Cottage is very cute, great location so close to the beach. Nice quiet beach.
Everything was fine. Bit of a problem with the septic. Had to end up using one bath for 5 ladies. And limit kitchen sink use. But owner was responsive, couldn't fix because of holiday weekend, but an overall good experience.
This was a really wonderful little cottage just steps to Broadkill Beach. Our family’s first time to this beach after going to Cape Henlopen for many years. Definitely a great spot. Lynn was super responsive.

I have been vacationing at the Delaware beaches for over 30 years and never knew about the hidden gem on the bay that is Broadkill Beach. I visited the area with friends and instantly felt at home. I think you'll love it, too!
Why they chose this property
I love the beach and fell in love with this cottage the moment we saw it. I have vacationed at Broadkill Beach with friends and love the relaxed atmosphere there. The quiet neighborhood is perfect for a family retreat and just three houses off the beach!
What makes this property unique
Getting to the cottage is an easy drive since the route takes you away from the shore traffic. The best of both worlds, Broadkill Beach is a quiet and secluded place to relax in the sun, and it's also close to the nightlife, restaurants and shopping of the shore points. Also close by are Cape Henlopen State Park, and the Cape May/Lewes Ferry.
