About this property
Northern Serenity at the rustic White Stag Lodge
Unplug, relax and refresh with family and friends in this authentic Northern Michigan cabin in the heart of the mitten.
The adventure begins as you travel through pine, oak and birch forests, down 6 miles of back woods roads. Overlooking a small lake, White Stag Lodge is located on 8+ acres - bordered by state forest with close access to miles and miles of well groomed trails for hiking, ATV's and Snowmobiles! The clear lake contains largemouth bass and bluegill, perfect for fishing. We have a fishing row boat, a couple kayaks, two tubes and a moveable swim platform for guest use.
On property you can hike to different areas around the lake and even take along a picnic to relax at Firefly Point under the large shaded pines overlooking the waters edge.
Our location makes it easy for day trips to all that northern Michigan has to offer. We are less than an hour to Gaylord and Alpena. We are close to canoeing and tubing facilities on the Ausable River out of Mio and golfing at the beautiful Garland Resort. A trip to the small town of Lewiston includes grocery store, coffee house, gift store, antique shop, ice cream and delicious dining. We are also close to Amish farm country.
Summer rentals are 6 nights with check in on Friday check out Thurs. Maximum 12 guests including children. Other dates have 3 nite min.

About the host
Hosted by Karen Testere

My husband and I grew up in the Detroit area, and lived in several places - Chicago, Virginia and most recently Washington DC. We are adventurous travelers and enjoy new cultures and destinations but have our hearts in Michigan.
Why they chose this property
We have family that settled in Northern Michigan in the 1800s, our families are part of the history of the area - farmers, lumbermen, sheriffs and shop owners We wanted to come back to enjoy the quiet beauty of Northern Michigan. Our cabin is constructed with huge red pine logs giving it a rustic authentic cozy feel - magical.
What makes this property unique
We have 8 acres adjacent to state land and a small spring fed lake where we are the only house on the lake. My husband and I fell in love with the remote wooded area, a place to get away from the hustle and bustle and wander in the woods to enjoy nature. There is a sense of renewal and home. We were hooked from the first day we looked at the property.
