Each month on the lake offers it's own charm: June brings long sunny days with lingering twilight, fresh green landscapes and a relaxed pace before peak season crowds. Enjoy fishing, paddling, and biking the islands.
July and August, classic lake season. Warm water, vibrant sunsets, and the full energy of summer. Whether boating, swimming, exploring the beach or attending one of many summer concerts, it's everything a Vermont lake summer should be. And for those extra warm evenings, you'll stay cool with A/C.
September is a favorite for many of our guests. The water remains warm, days are comfortably mild, nights are a bit cooler and the area becomes even more quiet! With electric heat you'll stay comfy in any weather.
All season enjoy the wildlife. Loons, herons, osprey and eagles along with squirrels, chipmunks and an occasional deer. There are plenty of destinations for day trips. Montreal is 1 hour north, Burlington VT is 1 hour south, the Alburgh Dunes State Park is an easy 1 mile walk or drive. It's a perfect area for biking and exploring.
Bring nothing but your clothes and food, this cottage comes fully equipped with dishes, linens and towels as well as two kayaks, a canoe, gas grill, fire pit, and large lawn for fun and games. Two bedrooms offer comfortable sleeping options with additional porch sleeping that so many enjoy on warm summer nights. Weekly rentals run Saturday - Saturday.

great camp with amazing sunsets, clean, well cared for and with all the ammenities, all you need to bring is food and a fishing pole. The owners are great people also and very responsive for any needs that may arise. Has a dock with mooring if needed. Great stay for our second year in a row and already booked for next year!
Over all nice camp. Great location. Host was friendly. One thing that would have made our stay better would have been if the camp had ac. Due to two of the days were mid to high 90’s witch inside the camp felt hotter.

Hi Ray. Thank you for your review. We have been hesitant to add an AC unit as it changes the "cottage" ambience and so many guests have said "No don't!" It used to be very unusual to have temps in the 90's and if we did, it would be for a day and then cool down in the evening. But times are changing and we definitely want our guests to be comfortable so we are looking into having AC installed. It was nice meeting you and your family. Thanks again for the review.
We spent a week at the Alburgh Cottage. If you are looking for a peaceful location with beautiful sunsets this is the cottage to rent.
The owners are very accommodating and do their best to make your stay enjoyable.
It was perfect! Peaceful, sleeping on the porch was so nice, the sounds of nature around you. My puppy Zoie loved swimming in the lake. I will definitely be returning in the future!
All of the previous positive reviews are accurate. This cabin was clean, comfortable, and beautifully located. Melanie and Vinny were so kind and helpful. After a day of hiking, I was so glad to come back to this cabin. Hannah, my dog, loved the big yard and swimming. Highly recommend this place!
Exactly what I had wanted - rustic but with the amenities that make it easy to have my coffee and cook when I choose. The view of the lake - and the sunsets across that lake - incredible! Had my two grown daughters join me unexpectedly, but we each had ample space and enjoyed day trips to Burlington and St. Albans. And read books!!! Very peaceful place - other than the deer flies that are everywhere in Vermont this time of year.
The Alburgh Cottage with its amazing views was breathtaking........ let alone to watch the resident eagle soar past our window every morning.
The cottage itself besides being cozy had a rustic atmosphere with a taste a fisherman would love and even his wife! Everything was inviting about our cottage. The host and hostess provided us with everything one could imagine. And on top of it it all, it was very clean and kept immaculate.
Owners live next door to the property. They were welcoming. The views are breath-taking. We enjoyed several of the 4th of July fireworks from the water's edge. The drive to the closest supermarket was 30 mins. Recommend a visit to the nearby towns and farmers market (approx 30 mins drive). We enjoyed fishing, swimming, kayaking, and canoeing. The small fans were inadequate in cooling the rooms and the bedroom with the bunk beds has a window that doesn't open. First day, I had to clean the yard and pick up after previous dogs walked in the area. The owner apologized and she was understanding. It would be a place we would return to if an air conditioner were added; otherwise, the heat is overwhelming at night.
Fabulous week at the lake cottage! Gorgeous sunsets, eagles, herons, geese and a chorus of owls at night! Incredibly relaxing and our hosts thought of every last detail!
The cottage is very cozy and inviting, Mel and Vin have really thought of everything! Sleeping on the porch was so peaceful and refreshing and of course the sunsets can't be beat. The location is secluded and quiet. It should be noted that there is a set of stairs down to the water (about 20) in the event someone is unable to navigate. The amount of weeds in the water was unfortunate because we couldn't swim, but we made the best of it. Owners were very responsive and had fresh flowers waiting for us when we arrived. Very tasteful!
Listing and location is exactly as described. Fit my family of 4 and dog perfectly. Our dog enjoyed the property the most…swimming, kayaking, canoeing, floating. We visited Burlington and Montreal. Great weather, great week.
Our hosts, Melanie and Vinny, greeted us at our arrival with a warm welcome, a tour of the property, lovely local flowers which graced the kitchen table and an offer of kindness and friendship. They are a wonderful and gracious couple.
The camp is delightfully simple and thoughtfully supplied. It was the relaxation we were seeking and included such things as kayaks for exploring the lake and/or fishing, a small woodstove for one chilly, rainy day, books, movies and games. The sunsets are truly spectacular, the chipmonk colony entertaining and there is a charming background of bird song throughout the day. It was everything we hoped for and more... and like many before us, we hope to return.
My wife and I stayed a week at the cabin for our anniversary trip. It was our base camp for daily trips to nearby towns for hiking and biking. We enjoyed the peace and quite as well as the amazing sunsets!
I had a wonderful time at this sweet cottage. Such a warm welcome from the owners, the beautiful and private spot that is dog friendly, and expensive beach…I feel lucky to have found it. The cottage is immaculate and has everything that you need. So looking forward to my return!
We had the most wonderful stay at this cottage! Vincent and Melanie have set this up so we had everything we needed, and all questions were answered by the note on the fridge. We spent most of our days paddling around in the kayaks and canoe; we also went swimming at Alburgh Dunes one day and horseback riding at Breakaway Farm another. And, of course, we enjoyed maple + chocolate soft serve at the local creemee and made s'mores by the campfire! But mostly we just relaxed—something that is not easy for my husband to do. This place is magical, however. My teenagers stayed mostly disconnected from their devices, for a change, and we all enjoyed each other's company. The cottage is clean, comfy, and cutely decorated. Even on the hottest days (88 degrees Fahrenheit), we stayed cool in the shade with breezes blowing across the lake. You cannot beat the location if you're looking for a peaceful spot. The other people who have commented here aren't exaggerating about the sunsets. They are spectacular. The sound of the waves lapping the shore in the morning while the birds sing and ducks quack sets the tone for every blissful day. We even saw a bald eagle soaring overhead. Wow! We noticed that our usually tense little rescue dog seemed far more relaxed than usual. Highly recommended. Thank you, Vincent and Melanie!
We had a most relaxing week and wished we had booked the property for two weeks. The sunrises, sunsets, birds, and weather all cooperated with this lovely cabin on Lake Champlain to provide us with a most relaxing week. A trip is great when you leave wanting more and that's exactly how we felt. The owner, Melanie and Vinny were at their home next door when we arrived and welcomed us warmly - suggesting food and shopping locations. They left us to enjoy the secluded site and returned when we were leaving. That worked well for us. We are pretty solitary people and enjoyed the privacy of the darling cabin.
The cabin was appointed with everything we could need and there was a place to get food, and ice cream, within a very short drive. We especially loved the beds in the porch. We slept there every night and got some of the best sleep either of us had experienced in ages.
Our dog, George, was with us and was welcome most places we went. He's a 16 pound white fluffy and was especially popular at the local golf course patio restaurant.
We highly recommend this spot.

About the host
Hosted by Melanie Atwood
Vinny Lizotte and Melanie Atwood have owned this property for close to 20 years. We both enjoy photography and have our cameras ready when ever we're outside at the lake. Wild life and sunsets , you never know what you'll see! We enjoy meeting our guests and sharing our little piece of heaven on earth with them.
Why they chose this property
When this property came up for sale, we went over to talk to the owner and said we'll buy it, without even asking for the price! We already had owned the property adjacent to the cottage and wanted to insure that the area stays quiet and secluded. We've done many improvements and updates to the property to make it as comfortable as possible and still retain the "camping on the lake" experience.
What makes this property unique
We love the privacy of our property. Located on a dead end road with only one property beyond us and vacant wooded lots before us, we feel very fortunate. The beds on the porch are the most popular claims for those who have stayed with us before. The young ones love the bunk beds, who gets the top? With every spring we look forward to spending time at this very special place.
