About this property
Sunrise Cottage near Yosemite National Park
Beautiful mountain top retreat with stunning mountain views, a glimpse of Mariposa city lights at night directly from the living room, and snow in the distance. This home is newly updated and furnished. The open-concept kitchen offers great opportunities for entertaining. The Living Room opens up to the backyard and offers a peaceful and quiet place to relax or practice Yoga :) Plenty of board games and a foosball table available for friends and family to enjoy.
The house sits on a quiet, private 5 acres with AMAZING mountain views, sunrises, stargazing close to Yosemite and the historical and charming town of Mariposa. It is conveniently located 5 minutes from downtown Mariposa, an hour drive to the El Portal entrance of Yosemite National Park, and 30 minute from Merced river, and 50 minute drive to Bass Lake, providing multiple options for day trips.
Other things to note:
*** Exterior security cameras on property***
We have one security camera on the front porch and one on the garage side. They will be on during your stay.
*** Your vehicle may get dusty on a 0.5 miles of bumpy dirt/gravel road***
The house is located just outside of town and approximately 0.5miles/2 minutes from highway 140 via a dirt/gravel road that could get a bit bumpy (possibly like a washboard) for a smaller vehicle, or one that has a lower bumper. Please drive slowly and carefully.
*** Wild Animals/Insects ***
Even though we are 1-hour away from the Yosemite National Park entrance, we are still in the mountain area sharing the same habitat with many wild/dangerous animals including snakes, raccoons, deers, mountain lions, and bears. Please don't leave any food, or items that attract animals in your car, keep house entrance/garage doors closed at all times, and pay extra attention when exploring the neighborhood after dark, a bear might show up and say hi : )
Insects/bugs are also very common in the moutain area, while we have scheduled pest control service spraying the outer perimeter of the house (and occasionally on the inside depending on the weather) trying to keep them out as much as possible, it's not uncommon to spot a spider or a bug in the house occasionally. It's inevitable in the wilderness unfortunately, and if you are not comfortable with that, please do not proceed with the booking.
The cleaning fee is used to sanitize and reset the house to its prior condition. Please refer to the posted checkout list during your stay. Any excessive mess or trash left may result in additional charge.
Although not frequent, guests might experience a power outage due to public safety shut off due to extreme weather conditions (e.g. wildfire prevention), especially during summer peak season. We have a flashlight in the house, but please be prepared for a blackout on your end.
