I've never had to give a bad review before. We walked into 78 indoors, with the central ac being broken and one portable ac that was not turned on. We reached out to the host whom said the ac repair man would be there the next day and that we could use fans to try to get comfortable in the mean time. I let him know that that wasn't possible for us with being in town for a convention and not wanting to have to go anywhere being sweaty. We asked to cancel our stay and for a refund, then relocated to another rental. After 4 days, the host still has failed to respond to any messages after requesting a cancelation and did not cancel our stay. The blinds on the window were broken where people could see in. There were only 2 towels for 6 people. The light bulbs were burned out in the only bathroom. After an hour and a half of the portable ac running, the temperature only changed by 2 degrees and only in that room. We had to finish getting ready in the car before heading to our first meeting. There were also people drinking and smoking weed that we had to walk by with our children to enter and exit. In no way do we recommend anyone renting this property, especially if they have children.
The pictures of the inside are accurate it does look nice. However, the air conditioning did not work. It kept freezing over. All they had was a portable one in the living room, which did not cool off the bedrooms. Out of the three TV's, the only one that worked was in the living room. The one in the front bedroom was cracked & busted. It also fails to mention that the only bathroom is inside of back bedroom that was the hottest since the ac was not working. It was real great after showering and trying to get ready in what felt like an oven. I Contacted the owner several times he only responded the first time and after that we were SOL all weekend. The area is sketchy and you have to walk down some alley/walk way to get to the back of the building where you have to walk up two flights of stairs to get to the apartment. Luckily, I'm from St. Louis so area didn't bother me quite as bad but my family visiting is not. What bothered me is at night trying to walk down that alleyway and it is completely dark with no lighting. We ended up leaving a day early since we couldn't sleep comfortably with it so hot; even though I paid for the whole weekend. He still has not contacted me back about anything. I have screenshots of all the times I tried to contact him.
This property was not as we expected. The floor was disgustingly dirty, the dishwasher had food particles in it and smelled horrible (plus no dishwashing detergent to run a cycle), 1 roll of toilet paper, no replacement garbage bags, and opened food packages in the kitchen cabinets. I communicated these things to the owner and although he took forever to get back to me he did have someone drop off toilet paper, garbage bags, and dishwasher pods. The floor was so dirty that we needed to wear shoes at all times or else our feet were black and covered with dirt. The apartment was on the second floor of the building which was not mentioned in the listing, so that was frustrating dealing with a bunch of luggage. There was also no image of the outside of the building so we were not really aware of what the neighborhood was like, which felt quite unsafe. We stayed here for 4 nights and it was frustrating that things were such a mess and we had to deal with it from the moment we checked in. We couldn’t wait to check out, which made our trip feel like a waste when it was our family vacation.
He was very accommodating and made sure we had everything we needed to be comfortable. The apartment is cute and clean and in a great location. It looks sketchy at first but I loved the location being in the middle of pretty much anywhere we wanted to go.
