When you're looking for a romantic getaway with that special someone, Orcas Island's Paris Cottage may be just what you envision. This waterfront vacation rental home will delight your senses with its interior warmth and beautiful natural setting. It features southwest views through a wall of windows in the living room and a private sand and gravel beach just across the street. (If you bring a kayak, the beach is a great launching site.)
The surrounding scenery is mesmerizing in all seasons. No doubt you will spot the eagles that come to feed off scraps provided by the neighboring shellfish farm (sometimes up to seven eagles!), or await the salmon that enter the creek running into the bay. Canadian geese will entertain you as they flock in 2 1/2 acres of nearby farmland and fields. But the bird life, sailboat and ferry traffic, vistas over Lopez Island and Cattle Point, and sunsets reflecting off the Olympic Mountains are just the beginning of the pleasure you’ll find staying at Paris Cottage.
Inside, you’ll relish the special warmth of cozy spaces. There is a queen bed, with a brand new mattress of the same type used in the Belmont Hotel suites in New York City. An architecturally designed custom headboard on the bed includes sliding windows at pillow height – adjustable on each side for fresh air while sleeping. The dining room is like a greenhouse, surrounded by windows overlooking the countryside. You’ll find the bathroom through a narrow doorway offering a small shower and an Italian sink. The bedroom has a flat screen HDTV with DVD player, and the living room has a smart TV for streaming shows or movies online. The living room has comfortable down-filled armchairs with a spectacular view.
French doors lead outside, where you’ll relax in a screened alcove shaded with parasols or on a deck with a double chaise and privacy screen. You can soak away the cares of elsewhere in the hot tub at day's end. This is also where the new propane BBQ is located for your convenience.
Paris, France, is known as the “City of Light” - the “Island of Starlight” is Paris Cottage on beautiful Orcas Island. Paris Cottage is in the quiet hamlet of Olga, a 20-minute drive from Eastsound Village and a 45-minute drive from the ferry dock. You’ll pass through spectacular Moran State Park on the way, where you will likely want to return for hiking and swimming. Buck Bay Shellfish Farm is a family-run business within walking distance of the home, where they have a wonderful array of seafood to purchase and a Bistro café open to guests during the summer months. Also within walking distance is Olga Artworks and in the same building you will find Lascaux café, offering a seasonal farm to table menu for breakfast and lunch. Just a half mile away is the Olga Store Co-op & café. Here you can find basic grocery items like eggs, milk, and bread without the need to drive all the way to Eastsound. They also have a selection of grab-n-go sandwiches, breakfast burritos, Straus Family Creamery soft serve ice cream, and other takeaway goodies.
Peak Season rates will apply to Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday dates. Also, note that due to its size and styling, this cottage is not suitable for children. If you have specific questions regarding this home, please let us answer them prior to you booking the home.
Please note this home has a ramp and no steps to the entrance.

This lovely cottage was a joy to stay in. It was the perfect size, clean and cozy with a beautiful view of a small bay and beyond. The landscaping was lovely and made it feel like you were in yoir own little garden. We would 100% stay here again. And have recommended it to friends.

Thank you for staying the Paris Cottage is a wonderful place to stay at we welcome you any time for another visit to the island.
Excellent location and outdoor amenities! Owner/manager was very responsive- we had an issue with the garbage disposal that they were able to address same day on the Fourth of July holiday. The bed was comfortable and the cottage stayed nice and cool in the summer sun.
Overall, very good - pretty much s advertised. Loved the privacy and quiet! The hot tub and BBQ really made it great.A few items at the place did not work properly but not an issue.
We had such a wonderful time at the cabin, it was the perfect getaway! The view was so beautiful, and the sun room was great for relaxing. We are looking forward to staying here again.
My partner had never been to Orcas Island, and so it was my immense pleasure to introduce him to this lovely cottage! I have stayed here twice before, and each time I left feeling rejuvenated and completely relaxed - this stay was no different. The hot tub is one of the best features of this home, and the views of Buck Bay and Puget Sound are absolutely breathtaking. We hiked through Mt. Constitution and enjoyed the Cascade Falls which was a magical journey. Anyone who has the blessed opportunity to experience this most beloved cottage will not be disappointed!
The property is amazing and relaxing. We sat out on the deck for hours watching the water and birds and listening to the frogs. The hot tub and fire pit were perfect.
We had a wonderful and relaxing stay. This property is so quiet and welcoming. We enjoyed watching the birds in the Bay and the yard. Would defiantly come back and recommend.
This place is a little gem. Tiny and perfect for a couple. Private and gorgeous sunsets. Don't miss the bistro next door. Bring an extra blanket for the patio.
A wonderful, fun and slightly funky, small, efficient accommodation. We loved it. Easy access to anywhere we chose to go. We’d come back to this very spot.
The property is in a great location. We loved getting to enjoy a cup of coffee on the deck in the morning and a cocktail in the hot tub at night, both with a great view of the bay. Being located just a short walk to the oyster farm made for a nice lunch. The house its self was very cute and cozy. We took advantage of the full kitchen. We would definitely recommend this place.

Thank you for your lovely review of Paris Cottage. We agree - it's a perfect spot for a romantic getaway! We hope to welcome you to the San Juan Islands again soon. ~NW Island Escapes
Unique, cute cottage tucked in a bay full of birds and wildlife. The views are picturesque, especially from the two-seater hot tub on the porch or through the large windows in the home. Cottage has an excellent, well stocked kitchen which is key with there are few restaurants on Orcas Island. The bedroom and bathroom are a little cramped, but also well stocked.
Lovely and very comfortable. We stayed 9 days and I would have appreciated 9 coffee filters instead of 5. We bought groceries but didn’t think we would need to buy house essentials.

Hi Mary---Thank you for staying with us. Sorry about the shortage of coffee filters. We do our best to meet our guest's needs, and work to remedy where we fall short. ---NWIE
What’s not to like? A sweet, cozy little home, with a fairly well-appointed kitchen (bring spices if you want them + oil and other standards), a tiny bath (but good shower) and comfortable bedroom. The view of the bay is a knockout. The view of the bay from the hot tub is a dream. We can’t wait to go back. Maybe this time BuckBay Oysters will be open! What a disappointment to miss it.

We had a fantastic time! Peaceful. Beautiful surroundings. The whole of Orcas Island to explore! And what could be better than a shellfish grower next door with fresh shellfish, crab, and fish?! The cottage itself was beautiful, and we will certainly return.
Nice stay. Kept warm and view of bay was lovely.
Appliances were of high quality and appeared new.
I had difficulty with the bathroom sink drain. I enjoyed exploring Orcas Island. Felt like I was integrated into the community. No other rentals in view. Bathroom had the feel of a boats head. Everything was there but it was tight.
If owner is interested I do fine pruning and would be interested in taking on the care of your plants. Hot tub was glorious!
This getaway was perfect for what I was looking for! My dog and I wanted a relaxing week with some exploring and hiking. The place was very clean and well appointed.
The weather was warm and dry. The view was mesmerizing watching the tide empty out the bay and fill back in, along with the sounds of the birds. The property is large with little traffic. we hiked at Mt Constitution, Cascade Lake, and Obstruction Pass. The views of the surrounding islands are beautiful! Lastly, the bed was heavenly! I would come back for sure!

I've never given a negative review on VRBO before & that in itself is disappointing. We love Orcas Island and the location, deck & view from Paris Cottage are lovely. However, the hot tub & gas fireplace were both inoperable, which put a serious damper on our anniversary weekend in rainy October. As soon as we arrived, we checked on the hot tub (to see if it was warm & ready for a dip) & found that it was filled with water (& leafs) for less than 1/4 of its capacity and was luke warm. We followed the posted instructions to fill the tub from the garden hose & then realized that the LED display was missing/broken so there was no way to heat the hot tub. As it was Friday at 5:30 PM, we called the phone number provided & the property management company said they would have someone call us back right away. Later that evening, we discovered the remote control to the gas fireplace in the living room was missing (we looked everywhere, but it was nowhere to be found) & there are no manual controls. As we hadn't received a return call, we called the property management company again at 12:30 on Saturday. We were promptly connected with Paul, who was very nice & attentive, but eventually informed us that the hot tub was scheduled for replacement & we'd be unable to use it during our stay. The remote control to the fireplace was dropped off late Saturday afternoon, but we were never able to get it to work. We were given a $20 + tax refund for each of our two nights. The covered patio, outside deck & firepit are wonderful, but the cottage could use a little spruce. It was very clean but the furnishings/paint inside aren't great. The cabin is next door to Buck Bay Shellfish Farm, which we'd visited before - it's lovely and worth a visit. We didn't mind, but note that when the tide goes out at Buck Bay, it's pretty smelly outside including on the deck of the cottage. If we'd known about the hot tub & fireplace, we'd have booked elsewhere. Once they fix them, it'll be nice.

Gina we thank you for your review about your stay and we are sorry about the challenges you experienced with the hot tub and remote control for the fireplace. The hot tub has been replaced and is working properly and the remote control for the fireplace as well. We certainly hope you will come back and visit and stay with us again here in the San Juan Islands and please do contact us so we can personally help you.
Best Regards,

Very well appointed cozy cottage, perfect for us looking to get away for a few days from the hustle and bustle of our daily lives. Beautiful view of the East Sound. Enjoyed the screened in porch, though I imagine in hotter weather could be somewhat uncomfortable, but the day temperatures were just right for spending a lot of time there. Easy walk to the neighboring Buck Bay Bay Shellfish Farm for some of the best halibut fish and chips anywhere.
We absolutely loved the accomodations. It was perfect able to unplug and unwind. Thoroughly enjoyed the patio with the lounge chairs and taking in the view of the bay. We plan to stay again as it was perfect for my daughter and I plus our dog.
