Fantastic getaway for our family with young kids. The cabin was well supplied (towels, laundry, kitchen) and rooms were clean. We enjoyed grilling out on the deck, roasting s'mores in the fire pit, and relaxing in the hot tub in the evenings. We had a question and the host was easily reachable by phone with a helpful answer.

The cabin and what the property had to offer was lovely. The cabin itself was very clean and well stocked with things that we might need. Not specified in the online listing was that we would have access to kayaks and canoes through the Fish Trap Village resort. Had we known, we would have planned for that, but that is a huge bonus. Firewood was also provided!

The listing was misleading. It stated there were 2 bedrooms, one being the sofa bed/murphy bed and one being the two queen beds. However, there were 2 bedrooms upstairs, each with a queen bed and the murphy bed and sofa bed downstairs. That was a happy accident. However, the listing said there was 2 bathrooms and one 1/2 bath. There was only one full bath and one 1/2 bath. That was disappointing because the 1/2 bath also had a walk-in shower all in one space, making it difficult to use it as a restroom after a shower because everything gets wet. There is no place to put your clothes or your things that doesn’t get wet. In addition, there was a distinctive smell to the house, it was very unpleasant. We were not able to pinpoint what it was, but it remained from the time we first arrived to the morning we left. I suggest you bring your hand soap and dish soap because all the hand soaps in the bathroom were almost empty and what was in them was watered down to extend its use. The dish soap had maybe a tablespoon worth of soap in it. I understand travelers bringing their own things, which we do, but we have stayed in a lot of VRBO’s and they at least provide adequate soap. However, despite these inconveniences, we did enjoy our stay. It’s a really cute cabin that was clean, and comfortable. It’s a nice quiet location outside of town. The town of Luray has everything you would need and we loved seeing Virginia in the fall!

The Sanctuary was clean and decorated perfectly for our getaway to the mountains! The location of the house is just down the road from Shenandoah River Outfitters, which was convenient for our tubing adventure. Our host, George, was very responsive to any questions I had leading up to our trip and went above and beyond by mailing me a few items I accidently left in the closet after our stay. Thank you for sharing your house with us!
