About this property
Train Wreck Inn - The Ole Depot
About this space
The Ole Depot, AKA the Octagon House, is a special spot within the Train Wreck Inn - a retro train motel in Grand Coteau, LA! Vibrancy and efficiency make your stay in a retired depot unforgettable.
Inspired by filmmaker Wes Anderson’s infamous color palettes, this space is complete with a record player, antique glassware, and a custom kitchen. Enjoy our courtyard’s hammock and seating areas, or walk to the nearby cafe and shops. The Ole Depot is ready to take you on your next adventure!
The space
Located in the center of the quaint town of Grand Coteau, the Train Wreck Inn is the perfect spot to rest your head.
There is something special about the Ole Depot! Guests love the bright shades of yellow in the vintage kitchen. It has also been said many times that there is a calm and peaceful feeling being inside the octagonal room. This is where you will sleep, relax and listen to some old records during your stay. It is a surprisingly spacious and precious space.
Enjoy mingling in the beautifully landscaped courtyard or hop in the hammock for some quiet reading time in the shade. We have multiple seating areas to enjoy a meal or beverage outside. Take a stroll next door to the cafe or an antique shop. We love the slow roll of our town and can't wait to host you!
Guest access
The courtyard is open to all guests to enjoy.
Parking for one vehicle per VRBO is available on site on Chatrian St, with additional public street parking on the front side of the motel (on Martin Luther King Dr.)
Other things to note
Our spaces are very old, compact and efficient, and we love that about them! Choices for layout and items on board were made based upon this. A few quick notes:
- TVs are available upon request - just let us know when you book. (Having no TVs is part of our style choice, but we’re happy to accommodate and want you to be cozy!)
- Keep in mind the Train Wreck Inn is composed of spaces that are old and quirky. We take pride in their condition and cleanliness, but note that they are actual pieces of history / not brand new.
- Kitchens are custom built and fully stocked. We provide an electric kettle and French press + local coffee and tea. (Instructions to use French press and electric stove are included in your Check In Guide. There is also an electric coffee pot in the cabinet if you prefer.)
