About the host
Hosted by Emma

Hi! We’re a husband-and-wife team who spent two years lovingly restoring this historic home. I’m an engineer, and my husband is a remodeling contractor—so between the two of us, we live and breathe renovation. We have a real passion for giving old homes new life, especially ones with great bones and a good story.
We’re both originally from Dayton but spent the last 10 years living in Charleston, WV and then Chicago, IL. After a decade away, we’re back in the city we love to raise our two wild, wonderful kids close to grandparents—and to give them a hometown as good as the one we grew up in.
We now live just outside Dayton on a small farm with a few horses, too many tools, and never enough time. We’re proud UD fans (Go Flyers!), die-hard Pittsburgh Penguins hockey fans, and always working on something creative.
This home has been a true labor of love. We restored it with care, blended in bold modern design, and created a space that feels lived-in, warm, and a little bit elevated. Whether you're visiting for a weekend, a UD game, or just exploring the Oregon District, we hope you feel right at home.
We’re so glad you’re here—thanks for choosing to stay with us.

Why they chose this property
We’ve always had a love for historic homes—and the Oregon District is the heartbeat of Dayton when it comes to history, architecture, and community. It’s one of the oldest neighborhoods in the city, full of character, charm, and walkable streets lined with everything we love: local restaurants, breweries, shops, and culture.
When we found this home tucked just behind the main strip on 6th Street, we knew it was special. It had the kind of bones you can’t recreate—classic craftsmanship, original details, and a quiet presence right in the middle of all the action. We saw its potential instantly and were excited (and a little intimidated) to bring it back to life.
We chose this neighborhood because we believe it gives guests a true Dayton experience. You can walk to dinner, catch live music, grab a drink at a local brewery, visit a vintage shop, and still retreat to a peaceful, private home just steps away. It’s the perfect blend of vibrant city energy and small-town charm—and we’re proud to share it with travelers who want to experience Dayton like a local.

What makes this property unique
This home stands out for its blend of restored history and bold, moody design—an intentional, layered look inspired by some of our favorite designers like Julia Marcum of Chris Loves Julia, Jean Stoffer, and Joanna Gaines. Their work gave us the confidence to mix classic architecture with rich color palettes, natural textures, and meaningful details that make a space feel personal and lived-in.
We didn’t just renovate—we brought this home back to life. Over two years, we worked room by room, uncovering original elements and pairing them with timeless upgrades: Italian soapstone countertops, custom cabinetry, one-of-a-kind artwork, and furnishings that feel collected rather than staged.
This isn’t a cookie-cutter rental. It’s a home with soul—moody, warm, and thoughtfully styled to balance comfort with character.
Inside, you’ll find:
Two king bedrooms and one queen bedroom, each uniquely styled
2.5 bathrooms, with both tubs and showers for ultimate flexibility
A chef’s kitchen made for cooking and gathering
Spacious living and dining areas filled with curated textures, lighting, and art
And outside:
A rare private off-street parking space
A quiet block just steps from the Oregon District’s best food, drinks, shopping, and music
