Jennifer was a very prompt responder even when I may not have been, and was super friendly. She was very informing on her requests at the property and what was to be expected when we arrived. Her simple but concise instructions were very helpful.

I don’t even know where to start. I have never seen a more dirty close to filthy accommodation. From the floor, dishes to the badly stained mattress. The sliding door does not even have a door handle The light fittings and ceiling fans are covered in dust. We even had to replace the AC filter. The washing machine had standing water in and the dryer vent is so blocked it takes 3 hours to dry a set of sheets. No racks in the refrigeration dirty oven with only 2 cook tops working at an angle. (The host did replace these while we were there). We didn’t use the microwave nor the toaster oven as I didn’t feel to clean that as well. It also would have been courteous to inform tenants how bad the water is. According to my water tester it is not fit for human consumption. No outdoor entertainment area. A wooden picnic table that is falling apart and a Lonesome Weber grill against the house. Finally calling a place dog friendly means there is a secure outside area for your dog. Dogs allowed, not dog friendly. The 2 stars are for the safe neighborhood and location to the beach. No I cannot recommend this old run down, poorly maintained beach cottage.

I’m not sure where to start with this either. I just reviewed our communications and there are over 70 in the course of a 30 day stay. I did my best to address all of Marlene’s concerns - including replacing the dishwasher on a holiday-but she is clearly still not satisfied.
This house is a well loved 100 year old beach cabin. We use it and love it, as do our family and friends. It is clean and well maintained but not perfect. The photos do a great job of showing the condition and style of the house.
When they checked in she had some concerns with cleanliness which I was happy to address but she indicated that she simply wanted to let me know. I met her and she seemed to be enjoying her stay and then writes a scathing review after the fact- such a bummer. We take hosting very seriously and work hard to provide a well priced beach house for families to enjoy our beautiful town.
The water quality is safe for drinking but tastes like beach water.
The mattress is 3 years old and has a waterproof mattress proctor. Perhaps that had a stain on it- it’s been replaced.
The air filter is changed monthly in the winter, bi monthly in the summer.
Washer and dryer are older but work unless you don’t clear the lint trap.
The fridge had a loose shelf that I removed for repair or replacement but there are still shelves and drawers in the refrigerator. Microwave and toaster oven are fine.
The house is pet friendly.
I hope anyone who reads her review will contact me with any concerns.
About the host
Hosted by Jennifer Godbold
We have moved around a lot and love to travel but this quiet beach town is really our favorite place to be, There are many newer and bigger houses on the island but we like to save these historic cottages and offer them for vacation travelers so that we can share our beach with others.
Why they chose this property
Its a quiet street and close to the beach!
What makes this property unique
These old cottages are cozy and comfortable and feel like the beach vacations we took with our families as kids. They have a patina that comes from sand and salt water that you cant find in new houses.
