We were lucky enough to find this beautiful spot for our family to come together and spend Thanksgiving week while my mom received treatment at UVA Cancer Center. The house was beautiful - clean and idyllically situated with space for us to spread out. It felt more like home than a vacation rental. We thoroughly enjoyed the quiet sunsets on the deck, the serene wildlife, and the peaceful walks to visit the horses. The kitchen was well enough equipped for us to throw together a Thanksgiving meal, which we enjoyed around the welcoming dining table. We also appreciated the awesome scrabble game and the nice selection of reading material. This was our favorite rental yet and we hope to return here whenever we travel to Charlottesville to support my mom during her treatment. Thank you for sharing this special place with us!

This is a beautiful updated and spacious home in a beautiful wooded setting that is conveniently located to Charlottesville and the University of Virginia. The hosts were easy to work with and very responsive.

I grew up in Charlottesville and worked as a carpenter and builder for many years. I left town to do business in Florida for 26 years and returned to buy a horse farm with 5 houses on 57 acres where River Rock is located

Why they chose this property

One of the oldest and best shopping areas is Barracks Rd Shopping Center. One of the most scenic roads is Barracks Road which turns into Garth Road. As you head west on Gary you approach the Foxfield Racecourse and iconic the iconic Hunt Country Corner Store. Turning right on the Free Union Rd. You head toward Free Union which has some of the most beautiful farms and homes in Alelbemarle county.

What makes this property unique

River Rock is one of 5 homes on 57 acres. The entire property borders the Mechums River on one side. The house is at the top of a forested slope. Beneath the forested slope are horse fields and the river. Whether you want to just relax in the house, on the deck, or walk through the woods and fields, River Rock offers privacy and rejuvenation.
