About this property
Superb 4-bedroom historical house in Fredericktown
Stay at the Historic King House — Where History Meets Hospitality
Step back in time at the Historic King House, built in 1830 and proudly listed on the National Historic Registry. Nestled in the heart of Fredericktown, Ohio, this beautifully restored home sits above The Keep Tavern, a cozy and inviting basement pub loved by locals and travelers alike.
Inside, you’ll find a perfect blend of antique character and modern comfort, with vintage décor, warm wood details, and thoughtful touches throughout. The home sleeps up to 9 guests with 4 bedrooms, 6 beds, and 2.5 baths, offering plenty of space for families, couples, or groups of friends.
The Space
First Floor:
Enjoy a fully equipped kitchen, dining area, and game room—ideal for gathering, sharing meals, or relaxing after a day exploring town. There’s also one bedroom with a double bed and a half bath conveniently located in the hallway.
Second Floor:
Upstairs, three bedrooms and two full baths await:
The primary bedroom includes a double bed and a private full bath.
The second bedroom features a double bed and two single beds, perfect for families or friends.
The third bedroom (kids) offers a single bed for a cozy, quiet retreat.
A second full bath is located in the hallway, along with a comfortable den and a laundry room for guest convenience.
About The Keep Tavern
Located just below the King House, The Keep Tavern offers a warm, welcoming atmosphere with great food, drinks, and friendly conversation.
Because the building is nearly two centuries old, it retains much of its original character—including the open beam ceiling above the tavern. As a result, sound can travel easily to the first floor of the lodging space.
Guests will hear music, conversation, and laughter from the tavern below. The tavern stops serving food at 9:30 PM, with last call and closing at 10:00 PM. When the King House is booked, this will be a strict cutoff to ensure a peaceful night’s rest for all guests.
Comfort & Climate
Due to the historic nature of this home, there is no central air conditioning. Guests are welcome to open the windows, and most rooms have ceiling fans. We also provide portable fans, and a portable air conditioner is available if needed to ensure your stay is comfortable.
Parking & Storage
Guests have access to the rear side of the house, which includes two dedicated parking spots near the back access/patio area, plus plenty of off-street parking for additional vehicles.
Although the upstairs of the detached garage is used for tavern storage, we are happy to accommodate the storage of bikes overnight—space is limited, but it’s available for guest use.
Pets Welcome
We welcome pets for an additional fee! The property includes a small fenced backyard, perfect for pets to play safely. We simply ask that guests clean up after their pets to help us keep the home and yard pleasant for everyone.
Small Groups & Events
We happily host smaller groups of 9 or less, including wedding parties, family gatherings, and group travel. For your convenience, we are willing to work with you on catering, including the option for a weekend brunch before the tavern opens at 11:00 AM, making your group stay seamless and special.
