Liked: Check-in, communication, location
Disliked: Cleanliness, listing accuracy
The place wasn’t explicitly advertised on the front page as someone’s basement/suite so that was a little shocking. When we arrived we found dirty towels and underwear under our bed and used water bottles. There was also a lot of noise from upstairs during the night, like people walking and talking loudly. Overall, the place was pretty cool with the themed rooms and all, but it wasn’t what we were hoping for and it’s safe to say we were disappointed. I’m not one to write bad reviews and complain, but I would hate for someone else to experience this.

You want to stay professional, calm, and factual — not defensive. The goal is to reassure future guests more than argue with the reviewer.
Thank you for your feedback and for staying with us. We truly appreciate every guest review, as it helps us continue improving the experience we provide.
We would like to respectfully clarify a few points for future guests. Our listing does clearly state multiple times that this is a private basement suite with a separate entrance, private kitchen, and private living space. Many guests specifically choose our property for the privacy, comfort, and affordability that this setup offers.
Regarding cleanliness, we take this matter extremely seriously. The suite is professionally cleaned and sanitized to a very high standard before every stay, including all linens and towels being fully washed and replaced. We have hosted many satisfied guests across multiple platforms who consistently compliment the cleanliness, comfort, and safety of our place. If there was anything overlooked during your stay, we sincerely wish we had been notified immediately so we could have addressed it right away.
As noted in the listing and house rules, this is a basement suite within a home, so occasional footstep noise from the main floor can sometimes be heard. We also enforce quiet hours from 10 PM to 6 AM and ask all guests to remove outdoor shoes and use the provided indoor slippers to help maintain cleanliness and reduce noise throughout the property.
We genuinely appreciate your stay and your comments. Feedback like this helps us continue refining the guest experience while also providing additional clarity for future visitors considering a basement-suite accommodation.
Our hosts were prompt and courteous. They answered all of our questions. It had easy on/off access to the highway we needed to get to the venue for our grandson's wrestling tournament. The rental was perfect for our needs. I would definitely recommend this VRBO to anyone.
My daughter and I stayed for the weekend. I absolutely loved everything about my stay here! The place was very cozy and made us feel safe and welcomed.
