Step Back in Time in This 1795 Mad River Valley Retreat
Welcome to a charming historic home built in 1795 by the first treasurer of Waitsfield, nestled just off Highway 100 in Moretown, just before entering Waitsfield and the heart of the Mad River Valley. With peaceful surroundings and quick access to Sugarbush Resort and Mad River Glen, this home blends early Vermont history with thoughtful modern updates.
The Space
This is an authentic old Vermont home full of original character. As part of its charm, you may experience uneven floors, squeaky doors, and the quirks that naturally come with a 200+ year-old home—a warm and nostalgic alternative to a modern new build.
Upstairs Bedrooms (4 total):
Primary Suite: Queen bed with an attached private bathroom featuring double sinks and a rain-shower head.
Note: The only upstairs bathroom is inside the primary suite.
The shower temperature is set to a comfortable preset and does not adjust.
John Deere Room: Full bed
Blue Bedroom: Full bed
Daybed Room: Twin daybed
Downstairs Bedroom:
Queen bed plus a dedicated workspace with monitor—ideal for remote work.
Work-Friendly Layout
The home includes two dedicated office areas:
A beautiful sunny office surrounded by windows, complete with a monitor and peaceful winter views.
A second workstation with monitor in the downstairs bedroom.
Bathrooms
Upstairs: Private primary bathroom
Downstairs:
Bathroom with laundry and a small stand-up shower
Second bathroom with a tub/shower combo
Kitchen
Enjoy an updated kitchen stocked with all your cooking essentials—perfect for quick pre-ski breakfasts or cozy dinners at home.
Entertainment
The only TV is a projector in the living room with a Fire Stick for streaming.
Amenities
WiFi: 80 Mbps, great for streaming and working remotely
Quiet setting just off Highway 100
Minutes to Sugarbush, Mad River Glen, shops, dining, and outdoor adventures
Dog-Friendly
The home welcomes 1 dog maximum with an additional pet fee.
Please Note
This home is over two centuries old, and part of its charm includes uneven floors, squeaky doors, and historic quirks. It offers a cozy, authentic Vermont experience rather than a modern build.
