About this property

Hale Ho‘omalie- Peaceful Mānoa Valley Retreat near UH

Welcome to Hale Ho‘omalie, a calm and inviting retreat nestled in the cool, lush beauty of Mānoa Valley. As the lower level of a classic Hawaiian duplex home, this thoughtfully designed space blends historic charm with comfortable modern living — all just minutes from the University of Hawai‘i, scenic hiking trails, Manoa Marketplace, and Honolulu’s favorite beaches. Please note that this home is located on the lower level of the property and is accessed via a set of stairs that lead down from the driveway. With a private entrance, peaceful surroundings, and one uncovered parking stall included, Hale Ho‘omalie offers an effortless home base for families, couples, and long-term guests seeking a true island experience. (Note: Caution, there is a steep set of stairs.)

Inside, the home offers two welcoming living areas, providing plenty of room to relax and unwind. Please note that there are interior steps within the home, which may not be suitable for guests with mobility concerns. The main living room features comfortable seating and a flat-screen TV, perfect for cozy evenings after exploring Honolulu. A second lounge space on the partially enclosed lanai expands the home beautifully, offering panoramic views of Diamond Head and the Honolulu skyline. With soft seating, natural light, and a tranquil atmosphere, this lanai feels like an indoor garden room, a favorite spot for reading, conversation, or simply enjoying the valley breeze.

The kitchen retains its vintage Hawaiian charm, highlighted by original cabinetry and classic fixtures paired with granite countertops and a stainless-steel sink. A breakfast bar seats three for casual dining, while the formal dining table seats six for shared meals. Custom stained-glass windows throughout the home add vibrant, warm touches that celebrate traditional island craftsmanship.

Step outside to a serene open-air lanai and yard area surrounded by tropical foliage. Here, you’ll find an outdoor dining space, charcoal grill, and a private outdoor shower — a refreshing bonus for rinsing off after a day at Kaimana Beach or Magic Island.

Hale Ho‘omalie features two comfortable bedrooms. The primary bedroom, which has a low ceiling, includes a queen bed and flat-screen TV, while the second bedroom offers a unique raised built-in queen bed with privacy curtains, creating a cozy, intimate sleeping nook.

Complimentary Wi-Fi, cable TV, ceiling fans, AC, and a shared washer and dryer provide added comfort and convenience.
Located in a peaceful residential neighborhood, the home is minutes from Manoa Marketplace (Safeway, Longs Drugs, cafés, and restaurants), the famous Waioli Kitchen & Bake Shop, and beloved hikes like Puʻu Ualaka‘a and Manoa Falls. UH Mānoa is just down the road, making this an ideal stay for campus visits, graduations, and long-term academic stays. Waikiki Beach, Ala Moana Center, the Honolulu Museum of Art, Kaimana Beach, and other major attractions are all a short drive away.
With its spacious layout, charming details, lush valley surroundings, and stunning Diamond Head views from the enclosed lanai, Hale Ho‘omalie offers a soothing, authentic Mānoa Valley retreat — a home where guests can slow down, breathe deeply, and experience the quiet beauty of Honolulu.
