Secluded Mountain View Cabin Close to Whitewater Rafting
Perched high in the mountains, Whispering Leaves Cottage is a private mountain-top sanctuary designed for deep rest and quiet connection. Surrounded by nature and set well away from the bustle, this peaceful hideaway in Western North Carolina is ideal for romantic escapes, creative reflection, or simply unplugging.
With exceptional privacy, breathtaking views, and inviting indoor and outdoor spaces, time slows here. Come unwind, reconnect, and leave feeling restored.
Start your mornings on the deck, coffee in hand, as mist drifts through the valley below and long-range mountain views stretch endlessly before you. Spend your days exploring nearby trails, local cities (Murphy, Blue Ridge, Blairsville, and McCaysville) or savoring the stillness, then return to cozy evenings by the fireplace or gathered around the outdoor fire pit, roasting marshmallows beneath a sky full of stars.
The Whispering Leaves Cottage has an open great room with soaring wood ceilings, rich hardwood floors, a gas fireplace, and full kitchen with granite countertops and stainless steel appliances (but no dishwasher). On either side of this central space are two generously-sized bedrooms. One with a king bed, the other a queen, and both have dressers and side tables, walk-in closets, and large private bathrooms. In the central space you’ll find a sleeper sofa that gives sleeping space for 2 extra guests. There is a cozy front porch and fire pit at the front of the house. At the back, the full-length deck with center, covered porch overlooks a beautiful valley backed by six mountain ridges and offers comfortable seating, a gas grill, and breathtaking sunsets. Bring your camera!
When you reserve the Whispering Leaves Cottage you get the entire home. It is your private retreat at the top of a mountain in a gated community.
Forecasting the weather in the mountains is particularly challenging. If you don’t like the weather, just drive five miles or wait five minutes! Always prepare for a pop-up rain shower and cooler temperatures. As you travel the area, be aware cell service is extremely spotty. There is no cell service at the Whispering Leaves Cottage. You will need to use Wi-Fi calling while you are here.
In addition, the road to the cottage, Teakwood Trail, is partially paved and mostly gravel with steep sections. Regency Drive is a gravel road. Please take weather into consideration, particularly during winter months.
The Cottage is in a peaceful mountain town surrounded by rivers, forests, and scenic views—perfect for outdoor lovers and relaxed getaways. Enjoy walking or biking along the Murphy River Walk, hiking nearby forest trails, or taking a breathtaking drive on the Cherohala Skyway. Water lovers can kayak, fish, or go whitewater rafting just a short drive away.

We had a great experience overall. A couple of small things to note: there is no dishwasher and there is only one TV in the living room, though neither was an issue for us. The road leading up to the cabin is very steep, so I would recommend arriving in an SUV or truck rather than a standard car.Aside from that, the cabin was very clean and well maintained. The hosts were friendly and quick to respond to any questions we had. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay here again.

Thank you so much for your kind review! We’re so glad you had a great stay and enjoyed the cabin, as well as the cleanliness and responsiveness, we truly appreciate you highlighting that.
We also appreciate you mentioning a few details for future guests. Just to clarify, our listing does note that the cabin does not have a dishwasher, so guests know what to expect ahead of time. We also do have plans on adding additional TV’s to each bedroom. Thanks for noting that will make a better experience for our guests.
As for the road, it is a bit steep (as many mountain roads are), but we’ve found that a standard car can make it up just fine, we’ve done it many times ourselves. That said, we always recommend guests use whatever vehicle they feel most comfortable with.
Thanks again for staying with us—we’d love to host you again anytime!
Very peaceful and quiet location and the views were amazing! The cabin was very clean and stocked with everything we needed. Thank you for hosting us!
