I’ve rented many beach houses and this was by far everyone’s favorite. It was beautifully decorated, immaculate and so functional. The river views are incredible. We had quite an age range including young grandchildren and it was perfect for all. The outdoor amenities including kayaks, paddle boards and the water mat were wonderful to have. The beautiful lawn provided hours of outdoor fun for the kids. Westport has great restaurants, ice cream shops, Westport Lobster fish market and Lee’s market and of course the beach so close to the house. We also went to the vineyards for music. Buzzards Bay brewery is also I fun visit. I will absolutely rent this house again. It was honestly the best family vacation
We enjoyed so much about this property. First of all, very clean and inviting space. It felt like it was “our home”. Space for everyone. Inside we loved the open kitchen/dining area, two living rooms with comfortable furniture. The view is great. We cooked many meals, lots of card games and a group puzzle day when it rained. The bedrooms are all spacious and the third floor for all the cousins was great. Didn’t know there was an en suite bedroom which was perfect for the grandparents. Outside we spent a lot of time on the huge deck, fished off the dock, used the floating mat and played music, kayaked many times, played corn hole and the outdoor shower was excellent! We brought s’mores and the solo stove was perfect for them. The area was close to take the ferry to Martha’ Vinyard for a day trip and the Winery sunset music was fantastic. Also we rented a boat from the marina at Newport. Walked Gooseberry island. Visited some local stores. We have rented many homes over the years for our multigenerational family and this has been our favorite so far! Thanks for a great week, your home is truly beautiful.

About the host

For years, our family has gathered here on the water to celebrate everything summer brings: sunshine, river days, laughter, and the simple joy of being together. It’s a place where memories are made year after year — early morning on the deck, long afternoons in the sun, and evenings filled with stories and connection.
For 50 years, Lee and Susan made their home in Hamilton, NY, cherishing their summer house as their family retreat. In recent years, they’ve been fortunate to reside there full-time, deepening their connection to this special place and the rhythms of waterfront life.
What makes the Westport cottage truly special isn’t just its location — it’s the generations of love, tradition, and togetherness woven into it. We’re so excited to share this meaningful place with you and hope you’ll feel the same warmth, joy, and sense of belonging that our family has treasured for so many years.
