Chickadee Cottage is nestled in the heart of the Woodford Lake community, just across the street from the water. This cozy mountain retreat offers a mix of tranquility and activity with plenty to explore year-round.
Take a short walk to the lake’s beach or continue on to miles of scenic hiking trails. In winter, enjoy cross-country skiing at Prospect Mountain just one mile away, or visit Mount Snow (19 miles) for downhill skiing and snowboarding. The mountain air in Woodford is typically 10 to 20 degrees cooler than lower elevations, offering a refreshing escape in the summer and contributing to the beautiful snowy winters the area is known for.
Year-round, you’ll find a variety of dining options in nearby Wilmington and Bennington, from casual spots to fine dining. Prefer to stay in? Use the grill and enjoy meals out on the deck, which offers a view of the lake just across the street. The deck is equipped with Adirondack chairs for relaxing outdoors. Woodford State Park is just down the road, providing even more opportunities to explore, including boat rentals and another swimming option.
Chickadee Cottage is our family vacation home, and we’re excited to share it with you. Designed for comfort and connection, the open floor plan brings together the living room, dining area, and kitchen, creating a welcoming space to gather. High ceilings and a sloped roof add a bright, airy feel while maintaining cozy charm—one of the reasons we fell in love with this home. A second-floor loft overlooks the living area, enhancing the sense of space and offering a unique perspective within the cottage.
Sleeping arrangements are flexible and comfortable. The first bedroom, located downstairs, includes both a double bed and a twin bed. Upstairs, the loft features a full-size bed and a queen bed, separated by a short bookcase to provide a sense of privacy while maintaining the open layout.
The cottage stays comfortable in every season. A ceiling fan helps circulate warm air in the winter and keeps the space cool in the summer. The bright sunroom is a favorite spot year-round, with oversized windows, high ceilings, and views toward the lake. A gas fireplace, operated by an easy-to-use thermostat, creates a warm and cozy atmosphere on chilly evenings, while a ceiling fan keeps the space comfortable on warmer days. New privacy shades (added for the 2025 season) make the space even more versatile. Whether you’re reading a book, enjoying the view or spending time with family and friends, the sunroom is a perfect place to unwind.
For entertainment, the cottage offers a Roku TV and DVD player, along with a selection of board games—perfect for unplugging and reconnecting the old-fashioned way. Wi-Fi is also available if you need to stay connected.
The beach is just a two-minute walk away. Bring the provided beach chairs, relax in the sand, or take a swim—the lake warms up quickly in the summer, making it especially inviting.
