White O’ Morn Cottage - Whimsical, comfy 1 BR 1.5 bath on Johnson Bay

Our cozy, comfortable 2024 cottage is in downtown Lubec, a few minutes’ walk away from shops and eateries. Fun and eclectic decor. Upstairs (ground floor): small kitchen and living room; bedroom with queen bed; main bathroom, entry to deck. Downstairs (finished walk-in basement) 3/4 bed; 1/2 bathroom, chairs and tables, entry to patio below deck.

For your varied viewing pleasure: Oceanside: downstairs patio, small yard and elevated deck oceanside; Streetside: screened porch.

Lubec is NOT Cape Cod: our access to Johnson Bay beach is not for sissies, and the working-harbor beach is not for prissies. Easy access to the beach is available a few doors down at the Lubec Historical Society. We offer spectacular views of the sunset, Globe Cove, Rodger’s Island, Eastport, and Treat Island.

We love our repeat customers and offer rewards for return visitors, including those who rented with us previously at our old cottage at this address.

NO SMOKING PLEASE!

We provide dish towels, paper towels, napkins, dish detergent, dishes, silverware, glassware, barware, and cookware; bathroom hand towels, washcloths, bath towels, toilet paper, tissues, hand soap, bar soap, hair dryer; bedroom sheets, blankets, pillows, and comforter.

Not provided: Personal hygiene products.

Also for your enjoyment: Upstairs: WiFi and TV with DVD player connected. Downstairs: limited book and DVD library, nostalgic board games, tourist literature.

This is a delightful cottage and Jim and Sue were so helpful- offering information about the area and what to see and do. We enjoyed sitting on the back deck enjoying the sights of Johnson’s Bay, and being able to drive over to New Brunswick in less than 5 minutes was a real perk.

Absolutely beautiful home with fantastic hosts! I loved the location, decor, and all the brochures/info they had about things to do. The hosts were so gracious to go above and beyond answering my questions about things to do in the area. I loved my stay and will hopefully be back!

The cottage is lovely and very comfortable exactly as advertised. The view of the bay is wonderful and made relaxing on the porch a favorite spot. The hosts were very informative and pleasant to communicate with. We highly recommend this rental.

Beautiful little cottage right on the water. Had everything we needed. Close to town. Very clean and well decorated. Price was reasonable to say the least. Hosts were pleasant, and quick to respond to all my questions. Would definitely book this again.

Great view of the sunsets and Johnson Bay. The place looks great. You can tell everything is new. The windows, doors, cabinets and kitchen appliances, etc. —everything is high end and good quality.

A beautiful, newly redecorated house with a stunning view over Johnson Bay. We had dinner both nights on the deck facing west over the bay, such beautiful sunsets. The owners were extremely helpful, communicative, and easy to engage with. They were very responsive and offered lots of helpful information and insights. This may be the cleanest VRBO place we've ever been, it was impeccable. Very interesting area and lots to do there.

The house was both clean and gorgeous! I loved having bothporches, and I spent hours looking at the bay and reading. We never turned the t.v. on. We walked several of the beautiful Cobscook trails when we weren't eating Betty's crabmeat or having dinner at Cohill's! The only hard part was leaving. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Thank you for making our rental so special. The location was phenomenal with awesome views that made for amazing sunsets and peaceful mornings. Surprisingly quiet in spite of being on a main road, the house had everything we needed. We appreciated all the thoughtful details like sugar for coffee/tea and covered ice cube trays filled with ice! It was very clean and comfortable. For one of the hottest days of the year in Lubec, the house was cool when we came on Friday. Saturday we just opened up the windows in the evening to let in the cool ocean air. Sleeping was comfortable with the fans. We were able to find lunch and groceries nearby in Lubec which was very convenient. The fireworks vantage point was perfect on the 3rd! It was such a fun place to stay and we enjoyed the decor! Our hosts were very responsive to any messages we sent during our stay and we have no complaints. Looking forward to returning!

We moved to the area from New York in 2013, having fallen in love with it in 2006 and purchased our home that same year. Although there isn’t extensive health care nearby, we feel as though we moved here for our health! The air and water is outstanding, and the stress level is noticeably lower. We like to share our adopted habitat with others and take great pleasure in being able to provide romantic getaways for guests on a budget.

Why they chose this property

It has been said that Lubec is “a place that time has not reached yet.” It is quiet and very much has a throwback feel. No hustle and bustle, not much else to do but to relax and enjoy. And it has been said of Lubec sunsets that “no artist in colors bright could paint the sky that way.” We love all this and love it equally much when our guests feel the same way!

What makes this property unique

We bought this property in 2010 and have been renting it out ever since. In 2024 we built a new cottage, mostly to increase the size and to make it a four-season property. Not many residences in Lubec are as new as ours and equipped with state-of-the-art furnishings and utilities. And it’s closer to the water than before! In addition, we do our own housekeeping, which allows us to charge a lower rate. And we live here so we’re always around to help. It all adds up to a nice romantic budget getaway for our guests!
