Arrived at 3:00 pm for scheduled check-in with two 6-yr-olds in need of afternoon nap after a day of hiking. I walked much of the property in search of a host,finally knocked on a trailer home door. Female host guided me to our “air-conditioned glamping tent”, unzipped the door and we stepped into what felt like a convection oven. It was 100 degrees outside and likely more inside the canvas tent. She had two fans running but acknowledged that it was too hot for the children. She offered to let us wait in their reception hall, a refurbished farm house. It would be well after dark before the tent interior temperature would drop, if at all. I responded that I would confer with my wife.I returned to our vehicle, reported the unacceptable lack of air-conditioning, and we decided to drive to the nearest city to find a hotel room. I did not speak to the hostess, we simply began an internet search for a route to a city and a hotel. The children were disappointed, having planned on roasting hotdogs and marshmallows. To advertise this rental as “air-conditioned” is clearly misleading.

We’re very sorry that the tent’s AC was not working properly when you arrived. The tent is normally air-conditioned, but unfortunately the unit failed, and on a 100-degree Texas afternoon, we completely understand that the tent was far too hot, especially for two young children. We promptly issued you a full refund and have taken steps to address the AC issue. We only wish you had reached out to us directly before leaving. We had larger, air-conditioned accommodations available on the property and would have been happy to upgrade you at no additional charge. Unfortunately, the person you spoke with on the property was not the person handling your reservation and was not aware of the alternatives we could offer. We’re sorry we didn’t have the opportunity to resolve the situation for you and your family, and especially that the kids missed out on the glamping experience they were looking forward to.
