About this property

Charming Pet Friendly Chalet/Great Location/Walk To The Lake

Come relax at Lake Tahoe in our family’s charming chalet on the beautiful and peaceful West Shore. Our cabin is updated and completely furnished.

Each of the four bedrooms (two upstairs, two downstairs) contain a queen size bed and all linens are provided for your comfort and convenience. Each bedroom also has individually-controlled baseboard heating. The two bathrooms (one upstairs, one downstairs) have been remodeled and updated.

Just bring your food and favorite beverages and enjoy preparing your meals in the modern and fully stocked kitchen. And if you forgot to bring something, the local (and newly remodeled) Tahoma Market is just a short drive or a 10 minute walk. They have great sandwiches too! For coffee drinkers or gelato lovers, check out "Where We Met," a cute little (seasonal) coffee shop just down the street.

During the warm summer days you can relax on the deck while enjoying the serenity of the West Shore, and when it gets chilly outside you can cozy up inside with a roaring fire in the wood burning stove.

A short walk to the beach -- only two blocks away! Provided with your stay is full access to the beach and pier at the Water’s Edge. You can also walk or bike to Sugar Pine Point State Park, or hit the slopes at Homewood Ski Resort less than 3 miles away.

As noted, we are dog friendly, but do charge a flat $100 non-refundable pet fee. If you are bringing you dog(s), when selecting the number of guests, click on the "Yes" button for pets.

Great spot!
Had a great time at Gary’s place. Terry, the property manager, was very helpful as well. Unfortunately the washing machine broke before our arrival, so we didn’t have access to it during our stay. Terry let us know in advance and both she and Gary were accommodating to our arrival time, even though it was outside the checkin time. The cabin is great! Plenty of room for our group of 8 that spanned infant to adult. Plus a dog. Board games and a well stocked kitchen. It’s close to the lake and multiple state parks. We especially liked Sugar Pine Point State Park nearby. There’s also a playground down the street for the kiddos to run out their energy. Highly recommend!

Great Family Weekend
The cabin was great in every way. The location is right next to the lake and a market, restaurant/bar, and was a short drive to skiing and sleding.

About the host

I grew up in the Bay Area and my parents, my brother, and I have enjoyed vacationing in Lake Tahoe since the mid-60s. We bought the lot in 1972 and built the cabin ourselves in 1976. After retiring from the Air Force in 2011, my wife and I settled in the Sacramento area to be close to our kids and so we could spend more time at the Lake. Since then we have spent a considerable about of time at the cabin and love being there. When we're not there, I spend my free time teaching part-time at Sierra College and volunteering with Junior Achievement of Sacramento.

Why they chose this property

We love the West Shore of Lake Tahoe! That's why we've been coming up here as long as I can remember. There is so much to do here, or not...it's up to you. One of my favorite activities is to walk down to the pier at Water's Edge in the evening and check out all the stars. It's amazing and so relaxing. Another fun activity is a bike ride around the neighborhood or through Sugar Pine Point State Park. As a very recreational skier, I love skiing at Homewood. It's only a few minutes away and it's a great family ski area with some of the best views of the lake. I think my favorite time of year there is the Fall. The days are still warm but the nights cool down so it's a perfect time to sit outside during the day and cozy up to the fire at night. And since the kids are back in school, it's not crowded there at all. Lake Tahoe is my favorite place in the world...any time of year!

What makes this property unique

Our cabin is a labor of love. We built it in 1976 as a family project with the help of a few friends. Although it was built with many hand-me-downs, it has always been cozy and comfortable. We updated the kitchen in 2006 and the bathrooms in 2013. Also in 2013 we replaced most of the furnishings. We're very happy with the way it turned out--maintaining that rustic charm while providing all the modern conveniences. Come check it out!
