About this property

*NEWER Yosemite Inverness House* with Central Air and Heat Inside Yosemite Park

Yosemite West is centrally located inside the park entrance, and sits near an intersection of the roads leading to the park's most famous features: Yosemite Valley, Glacier Point and Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias.

This private updated 2-level house sits at the end of a quiet street, with a network of running and hiking trails surrounding the neighborhood. Too hot? Too cold? Not a problem. Our home features central air conditioning for those too hot for comfort nights and central heat to keep every part of the house toasty.

KITCHEN / DINING / DECK
Cook comfortably in our fully-equipped kitchen with full-size, stainless steel appliances, gas range, granite countertops and fully stocked with service for 8 and all the necessary gadgets to prepare your favorite meals. Pantry is stocked with a variety of spices and individually wrapped teas, sugar and cream. The dining area has a pub-style table for six and is open to the living room area.

Enjoy the views while you grill, dine or lounge outdoors on our expansive 300 sq ft. deck. You have your choice of grilling on a GAS BBQ grill (located on the deck) or grilling on a free-standing, cast iron, CHARCOAL grill (located on the lower level in front of the house).

PICNIC BASKET
We’ve provided a picnic basket and cooler for a spontaneous picnic in the park. Picnic basket serves 6 and includes individually wrapped salt & pepper. Reusable ice packs can be found in the freezer.

LIVING ROOM
Clean, bright and tastefully decorated, the living room is an inviting space with a large and comfortable curved sectional sofa, gas burning stove, flat-screen TV, and plenty of DVDs for your next movie night. The dish network connection is very unreliable due to the height of the surrounding trees. We are hoping a new carrier will soon come into the Yosemite West area with a more reliable TV service.

LIBRARY WEST
A diverse and extensive library of books is available for you to enjoy including books on Yosemite, hikes and nature walks. You may take books with you if haven’t finished reading them and you’re also welcome to contribute to our library with books of your own. There are plenty of “reading lights” conveniently throughout the house.

BEDROOMS
The first bedroom is furnished with a full size bed and twin bunk beds. The second is furnished with a king sized bed. The master bedroom is also furnished with a king bed. Bathroom #1 has dual sinks with granite countertop, tiled floor, full size shower/tub and plenty of natural light. The master bathroom has dual sinks, granite countertops, tiled floors, and a shower.

BATHROOM
Plenty of natural light fills the bathroom and features dual sinks, granite counter tops and tiled floor. Enjoy “hotel-like” complimentary toiletries. First aid kit under the bathroom sink.

WASHER/DRYER
Full size washer and dryer available for guests staying 3 days or more.

Wonderful place to stay! My husband and I, with our 18 month old daughter, stayed 4 nights here and we found it to be a perfect place for families. It’s in a quiet corner of Yosemite West. They have everything you need to cook with, WiFi, and TV. They have a pack n play, high chair and ample space for our energetic girl to run around. There is only 1 set of stairs inside and they have a baby gate for that which we found to be fantastic! There were just a couple minor details in cleaning but overall the place was very well maintained.Judy is very attentive! We had an unexpected winter storm mid October and she guided us on what to do and made sure our family was doing well and safe. We would likely stay here again!

Beautiful, well-kept property on a quiet dead-end street! My family of five were visiting Yosemite for the first time to attend my niece's wedding at the Yosemite Valley Chapel. I was initially bummed that all the hotels in Yosemite Valley were fully booked by the time we started really planning our trip, but I'm so glad that misfortune turned into the fortune of staying at the Yosemite Inverness House instead. It was the perfect tranquil sanctuary to come home-away-from-home to at the end of a busy day. Also, my brother and sister-in-law decided to stay with us last minute, and Judy offered her lower private suite to them, which was absolutely lovely and perfect for them. (Thank you, Judy!) Highly recommend this wonderful property if you want a quieter place to stay than Yosemite Valley.

The house is very comfortable and clean. The kitchen has pretty much everything you need to cook almost anything. The walls and bookshelves have some fun surprises if you are a climber. The house is in a cool location that makes you feel like like your alone. It can be a little hard to find in the dark the first time, but the host provides excellent instructions with pictures.Even on Labor Day weekend, it was only 13 minutes from the house to Tunnel View and another 5-7 to the Valley Floor. The hosts are extremely accessible and helpful, even through a black out. We will definitely try and stay here again. Lastly, for those that care, this is appears to be a family's vacation house that they are sharing and not a corporate operated rental house.

Spring in Yosemite

Inverness Cabin was great for our family of six. The children enjoyed playing in the snow outside our cabin.. Our hearts sing in Yosemite Village where we went daily enjoying Yosemite Falls, Vernal Falls, Ahiwhani Lodge and biking near Mirror Lakes where we saw a beautiful bear!

Amazing house and location

House was so comfortable and clean-the fireplace kept us warm and helped dry out our clothes after the rain and snow! Driveway is steep-pay attention to Judy's directions! And there is one set of stairs to get up to the main level of the house-just a head's up if mobility is an issue-but the house is great! Beds are comfy, bathrooms are spacious and the kitchen was well stocked.

Location is good

Our family arrived to a very cold welcome the heart hadn’t been turned on so was 54 in the house. I wasn’t looking forward to using the rest room but hallelujah the toilet seats have warmers!! It would be nice if the floors did also; we found it very cold to walk around in socks. Another nice extra was a towel warmer. The owner is great, she is very responsive, she helped us out when the lighter wouldn’t work for the grill by contacting a neighbor that we could borrow one from. It took me a bit I found him and was grateful for the assist. The grill itself is due for a good cleaning or an upgrade but we made it work. After being shut down for the winter I had to clean out the ice maker to get it going again so we had ice for our cooler and the cleaning crew forgot to unload the dishwasher. I also couldn’t handle the bathroom exhaust fan and wiped it down. The driveway is very intimidating in the dark I would recommend arriving in daylight. Overall we would stay again but all the little things in this visit accounted for a 4 star vs 5 star rating.

Excellent location

Let’s start with the one little complaint then move on to the good stuff. One full length blind in the bedroom was broken so we hung a blanket to block out the light. Now the good stuff. It’s got everything you need. Kitchen was well stocked. Beds were comfortable. I drew short straw and slept in the full size in the bunk room. It was really comfortable. I slept well. The location is completely quiet. The seating area was comfy. It has tons of tv viewing options. Kitchen was easy to use. Area felt safe. Do not underestimate how valuable it is to stay within the park. Plan well, get your groceries and fill your tank on the way in and then you won’t have to leave the park again - translation: you won’t have to wait in the massively long line to get in the park every morning. Yosemite village actually feels like a big village and it’s kind of neat you get to “live” close by. Basically we made ourselves breakfast at home, left at 8 for the valley, had lunch in the valley, and made dinner at home. We did get quite dirty hiking. The bathrooms had several lotions, soaps, shampoos, and such to choose from as well as an abundance of towels. My husband grilled one night. Food came out good and he didn’t say he had any problems, so that’s good. Yeah, so, all in all it was quite nice.

Amazing location!

So happy with our stay here! Host was very helpful and communicative prior to and during our stay. Judy provided detailed arrival directions and house information. House was impeccably clean. Well stocked throughout. Lots of spices in the kitchen, plenty of toiletries in the bath including make-up remover towelettes, a towel warmer, extra blankets, space heaters, games (we loved smarty pants), fast WiFi. We lacked for nothing. Fireplace was easy to use and cozy. Quiet location at the edge of neighborhood. Quick access to Yosemite Village and Mariposa Grove. Pro tip: The beauty of this place is it’s remote - be sure you plan ahead. We gassed up and brought all the food we needed for our entire stay. That saved us longer trips to re-stock. Park recommendations: Don’t miss a chance to walk up to the Nose to El Capitan. Just off the Old Big Oak access point is a short loop trail that brings you right to the base of El Capitan. No crowds! And we happened across some climbers starting their ascent. Also don’t miss the Mariposa Grove on the south end of the park. We also hiked the Sentinel Meadow Cook’s Meadow loop which brings you by the lower Yosemite Falls, chapel and criss-crosses the valley with stunning views of Half Dome. The All Trails app has excellent hiking options. Be aware that you won’t have internet access in most of the park and download any maps ahead of time. And if you get a clear night definitely go stargazing!! Thank you Judy!!

EXCELLENT place to stay while visiting Yosemite. Interior is spotless and very cozy to hang and play games or watch TV after a long day in the valley. WiFi (Starlink) and Dish TV was trouble-free. Kitchen has everything you need.Beds were all comfy and especially appreciate having two rooms each with King beds and high quality linens. The bunk room with the full-size bed worked perfectly for our group of 5 adults. My 80 mother also really appreciated everything being on the same floor (once the initial climb up the stairs). The Toto toilet seats were also a big hit with the group, LOL.Our host Judy was always spot-on with communication even after a quick snow storm blew through, she reached out with alternate instructions for parking when we got there (which we didn't need after all, but great planning on her part). When we return to Yosemite or just want a quiet getaway, we'lll be back. Thanks!

The location of the house was perfect for planning our activities over the 5 days we were in the park. House was very clean and had a nice supply of items for our use along with a nice gas fireplace inside and outdoor gas grill and a charcoal grill. Host was very quick to respond to any questions and gave us additional information due to the government shutdown which happened before we arrived.

Great place with air conditioning

We went to Yosemite a couple weeks ago; it is a beautiful valley and we highly recommend this vacation. I looked inside the park because I had heard you didn't need a reservation if you had a vrbo inside, which was true. I have adult children and teens and wanted adequate bed sizes. The beds were very comfortable which is a huge plus, and there was air conditioning which was a huge plus for my husband who cant sleep if its hot. It was well stocked with dishes and utensils and basic spices, but note, we failed to bring some condiments that needed to be cold. Make sure you bring your own. The host communicated well. She recommended bringing in our own food which we did and that was super helpful as the closest grocery store is 30 minute drive. It is a 30 minute drive to the valley floor, but we didn’t mind the drive. You can park in the Curry Village and Yosemite village parking and then use there shuttles. We loved having a washer and dryer, because this trip was linked to a wedding trip in Tahoe and we needed to wash clothes in between. I would say the only harder thing was you have to back out your car down a fire lane to get out of the drive way and the host has lots of notes in her instructions to be careful with your water usage, like try to take 5 minute showers instead of 10 minute and fill the sink to wash dishes; don't just run the water. She said they have limited water supply for the neighborhood which is understandable. Overall a great place to stay.

Clean & quiet

Very clean and well-stocked home in a quiet corner of Yosemite West. The owner is always available and informative. The kitchen & bathrooms are particularly clean and offer every amenity. There is no traffic as this home is located at the end of a cul-de-sac. Deer are walking by early mornings and evenings. Excellent home for our week's stay, and we plan to stay here again!

About the host

Hosted by Judy Brandy Yoho

Host profile image
I have loved Yosemite since my teens. We climbers drank straight from all the rivers, and spent our days on the granite walls. In my early 20s, I climbed every major cliff in the Yosemite Valley, had barely enough money to buy a beer, and hitchhiked everywhere I couldn’t walk. My best memories…

This place is 12 miles from El Capitan Meadows, the best picnic spot in the Valley. At about 5500 feet above sea level, it’s nice and cool all summer when the Valley is sweltering. At the edge of the Yosemite West, there’s no development on any lot surrounding this one, so it’s private.

Why they chose this property

Location, location, location. Yosemite West is located inside the park entrance, and sits near an intersection of the roads leading to the park's most famous features: Yosemite Valley, Glacier Point and Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias. These popular park destinations are all within 15-18 miles (30-35 minutes) from Yosemite West in three different directions. And for winter fun, we enjoy the Badger Pass ski area (only seven miles away).

What makes this property unique

Central air conditioning and central heat, 300 square feet deck with gas grill and seating.
