We had a great weekend and the house was perfect for us! It was just as described and everything went smoothly for check in and check out! I hope to stay again!
Wonderful property in a good location. Not a super busy roadway. Easy walk to the Pit Stop, small convenience store, for my morning coffee. Easy access to the rest of the island. Host was nice and responded quickly to any concerns.
This property was extremely clean, had great working AC, and the property manager was great with communication, ensuring we had what we needed during our stay. The check in and check out process was smooth. We appreciated a clean place to stay while enjoying the island!
We really enjoyed staying in this cute beach house. It is conveniently located within walking distance to a convenient store and Mr. Baldys Restaurant. It was nice to unplug (no WiFi) and enjoy life.
We loved this stay and the location was ideal. We were walking distance everywhere but also had a private space to unload and unpack the days adventures. Would stay here again.
This is our second time visiting this cute cottage. We loved making this our home while we stayed for a short time on the island. The location to everything is perfect. The Beach, restraunts, parks, shopping...all very close by.
We also loved the decor and layout and most importantly, it is clean! Thanks for another great stay!
The house was clean, well maintained, quiet at night, and plenty of parking for 2 cars if needed. For the price, this place is a steal even during peak season. Only "complaint" would be no wifi but that had zero impact on our experience.
This was the 5th time we've stayed at this location, and it feels like a cozy home-away-from-home. There's a reason we continue to rent it every year. Great location & comfortable. We'll be back soon!
The house is wonderful. It’s a little away from the action, which leads to very peaceful evenings after a day of beach-going. Home away from home.

simple and easy
My sister and I enjoyed our stay here. The best part of the stay was the local seafood available just a stone throw away. The house could use a few more kitchen items but that is about it.

I am glad you enjoyed your stay on Chincoteague, and appreciate your recommendation. We are working toward doing some kitchen upgrades by next season, and have since added some kitchen utensils. I will also be adding some additional pots, pans, etc. Thanks for your comment.
Cute little cottage that feels like home away from home.
This is the 2nd time I stayed here, 1st time with husband this time with mom and sister. We enjoyed the accommodations along with the beauty of the island, refuge and beach. Plan to return with the family again. Always a blessing, thank you for sharing your little slice of heaven on earth.

So happy to have you come back and visit! And hope to have you again. Thank you!
Very clean, well maintained little house. We loved the fact that we could unplug while we stayed, my husband and I both have very stressful jobs and being able to escape meant everything. It was in a quiet location with the most beautiful little fairytale tree out front. Great place to get away. I will definitely book again in the future.
Nice cottage has the basic you need to function. Vintage . Small but well distributed space. Highly recommend. No WiFi and no cable perfect to disconnect from technology.
The house was super cute, no Wi-Fi or cable which was told to us before our stay. There are a bunch of board games and some dvds there though. It was only 15 minute golf cart ride from Assateague which was nice.
I took my teen daughters on an adventure to Chincoteague Island over 4th of July. Michelle's place was exactly as described in the listing and perfect for the three of us. After a week of sharing a hotel room in the Outer Banks, we enjoyed being able to relax in our own spaces with the three bedrooms. The home was very clean and had all the needed amenities, plus! The location was perfectly situated to all that the island has to offer. Michelle's helpful and detailed communication was much appreciated. We would definitely return for another stay!

About the host
Hosted by Michelle Howard Waterfield
My name is Michelle Waterfield. My father, Mitchell Howard is the owner of this property. I live on the mainland as does my father. I am a stay-at-home mom and I assist my dad in managing the rental. I'm usually available to assist with basic needs regarding the home and I am responsible for all of the bookings. My father is a self-employed carpenter who has owned this home since the mid 90s. It once belonged to his grandparents (Chincoteague Natives, local clammers). We have been renting this house out for a while now. My father is a native of the island, and I did a lot of growing up there as well, so we are both fairly knowledgeable if you have questions or need suggestions.
Why they chose this property
This home belonged to my great grandparents, so it is family owned. There are fond memories of chicken and dumpling Sunday dinners, childhood birthday parties, sitting in the front yard and my pop-pop sitting out front under the willow tree next to his clam shack where he sold clams. The home is simple and traditional Chincoteague style. One of the best features of this home is close proximity to the Chincoteague Annual Pony Swim, we enjoy time with the family here every year for the special event!
What makes this property unique
The willow tree out front provides nice shad and there is a backyard sitting area with a tiny but nice deck that is fun and enjoyable for everyone. We enjoy grilling out or eating sandwiches on the picnic table with the family. There are bicycles located in the shed for family bike rides. From the upstairs bedroom you can observe the Assateague lighthouse in the distance. You can faintly see the flickering light through the window in the evening.
Another benefit is the very close proximity to memorial park. Enjoy the public boat ramp, playground equipment, fishing dock, gazebo and picnic area.
