Tracey was very communicative, specific and accommodating. The place was great...yes, the spiral staircase is a bit challenging but the place is a rad, rustic mountain condo so plan for it and its totally manageable. Spent the last 4 years paying much more for less place at the Village condos and won't ever do that again...I will be back to this place to rebook! Cheers!
Family and I stayed here for a few days. The condo was cozy and the location was great! The hosts were very responsive to questions too.
Would stay again
The condo was perfect for our group, comfortable and well stocked. easy check-in, garage parking, short walk to gondola and the village for evening meals.
Would recommend to all.
A lovely comfortable stay right by the village gondola literally a 2 min walk which is a gamechanger when you have tired kids complaining about heavy snowboards!
This was the perfect property for our group of adult friends, some which brought their teenagers. Plenty of rooms and beds. Pool and hot tub indoors. Well equipped kitchen. Highly recommend!!
Condo was very nice and within very close walking distance to the gondola. The spiral staircase would've been difficult without the elevator. We would stay here again.
Great condo! The location cannot be beat! You are less than a football field away from the village and gondola. It was a little hard to find in the dark, but once we got our bearings in the daylight, it was an easy spot and great location. We would definitely stay here again.

Great place and location
Very comfortable and really a great place. Check in was needlessly lengthy. Did not realize the listing was 2 units and parking was confusing. Hosts were not as responsive as I expected. Calls to contact went unanswered. I would recommend re-investing some funds into updating technology and the kitchen. Q

We’re glad you found the home very comfortable and enjoyed your stay. Thank you for the helpful feedback. The listing does note that the property has 2 units, and parking details are included in the check-in instructions, though we’ll look at ways to make this clearer. We also take your comments on communication and kitchen updates to heart, as we’re always working to improve the guest experience.
We stay in a lot of rentals in the Mammoth area, and this was one of the best. Cant possibly beat the location - walking distance to the village, the brewery, the gondola. Perfect. And the little details in this unit were excellent. Loved the drinking fountain!! Loved the wagons locked up next to the parking spot so we could get all of our gear in. There was even good coffee in the cupboard so we could have a cup before going to the store the first morning. Loved this place, and would definitely return.
loved this location and that there was soooo much storage for our riding gear and luggage. Short walk to the village and gondola and garage parking was a huge plus! It came fully stocked with everything we needed, comfy beds and pillows, and wifi worked great too. Our only issue was the very narrow and spiral staircase... it was tricky getting luggage up to the loft and we had a 2 year old with us so it was a small challenge keeping her away from the stairs. BUT, with that being said it was still a great stay and if I had known about the stairs I may have chose a different place so a lil part of me is glad I didn't...
The location was amazing and the place itself was nice, but there were some issues with cleanliness. We found cookie pieces (not crumbs) and wrappers on the floor - maybe the cleaning service didn’t vacuum? There was also hair in the drains.
Able to overlook a lot of that because of the location and the amount of room we had - very spacious!

Martha,
I am so sorry that the condo was not as clean as it should have been. We are addressing the issues with our cleaners. Just as a future note, if you had let us know, we could have sent them back to take care of the issues for you.

The property was very spacious and right in the middle of everything we we're looking for in the Village. Some things about the condo were pretty dated and need some love but it was clean and did the job. The heater in the master is too loud to sleep with on, and the tv's we're hard to operate (one in master worked briefly then stopped). Check in with the garage / parking was a bit puzzling at first, but glad they had the wagons to haul our gear. Other than that no complaints. A pretty good value especially on weekdays.
Pros:
-Great location!!
-Very well-stocked kitchen, bathrooms, extra blankets etc.
-Easy check-in
-Quiet building
Cons:
-This is NOT a 3 full bathroom condo as listed. We were disappointed not to have 3 showers available. There is NO bath upstairs. It is a 2.5 bath condo. 2 full baths and 1 half bath (powder room).
- As mentioned in other posts, the narrow, shaky stairs should be remodeled.

The communication with the host was the worst part. I didn't receive any information until late the night of check-in, then was told I had to sign an agreement before any other information was released, then the host went to dinner for 2 hours and ignored my emails and texts. We drove around Mammoth not knowing what to do until late at night while she enjoyed dinner. At that point I still didn't have a map of the unit or any other information, and couldn't get a response. We finally got in and found the place to be less nice than expected. The narrow, steep, round staircase was a major issue with the dogs and my elderly father. We weren't able to access the other levels without going out into the building hallway to use the elevator or the building stairs. On a positive note the location is good, once you can find it.

“We’re sorry for any misunderstanding. The listing photos and description clearly show the interior stairs, and our booking details note that a signed rental agreement is required before check-in. We sent several reminders but did not receive the completed agreement. We provide these details so guests know what to expect and can enjoy a smooth, hassle-free check-in on arrival.”

An okay stay
The property needs a major update and deep cleaning. Carpeting in a place that allows dogs and wet skis and related snowy clothing?? Ick. We saw two other units being cleaned during our stay and they both had some kind of vinyl flooring. Definitely the way to go. The shower was a little moldy. The comforters were lumpy. The closet door on the main floor was off the track. The location is really great. And I really appreciated getting an extra parking spot in the garage for a third car. It was an okay stay. A lot of little things that weren’t ideal. We won’t stay there again. 🙁

Kim,
We appreciate your feedback and wish you had given us a chance to resolve your concerns before you left. We completed a full deep clean this fall as we normally do, so rest assured that the condo will be sparkling should you decide to stay again.
Can’t beat the location, a two minute walk to the village gondola, restaurants, and shops! The two ski lockers were extremely convenient.
The unit was as-advertised, though the pictures don’t show how dated the interior really is… dingy carpet, worn furniture, and old/well worn kitchen stuff (pots, pans, and that sort of stuff.) We knew going in that the spiral staircase would be challenging, and it was indeed. As two able-bodied adults and teenagers, it wasn’t really an issue, but definitely would be for many others. It wouldn’t be practical to go outside, take the elevator down, and then come in on the other floor, but that would be necessary if someone couldn’t navigate a very steep tight spiral staircase. Also, the unit really is two proper/enclosed bedrooms, and an open loft. Again, this wasn’t a problem for us, but for someone seeking three proper bedrooms, this wouldn’t be the unit for you.
And finally, while not an issue with this particular unit, the Fireside complex is pretty gross… The hot tub was very murky, the interior staircases smelled absolutely awful, and the interior carpet was extremely old, dirty & worn. The walls between units are paper thin, so we could hear the people next-door as if they were sitting right in our living room. I don’t think we would stay in this complex again.
Chris and I are house fans! In addition to the ski condos in Mammoth Lakes, we manage a Laguna beach house, and both long and short term rentals in Phoenix, Arizona. We pride ourselves in offering cozy, comfortable and well stocked homes away from home...
Why they chose this property
We chose Fireside at the Village because the complex was right at the Village, close for the gondola, shops and events, but still quiet. We love the fact that there are only 30 units at Fireside and that the units are large and bright, unlike so many others in Mammoth. Our kids love the indoor pool, and we love being able to supervise them while enjoying a beverage in the hot tub while looking out over the Sherwin mountains!
What makes this property unique
Sleep 8 in the heart of the Village — Mammoth's hub for dining, the free gondola, and town trolley to trails and biking. Underground parking, indoor pool, and hot tub included.
