Log Cabin with a spectacular view of the Shenandoah River and the Massanutten Mo

Enjoy a spectacular view of the Shenandoah River and Valley from the covered stone front porch. This quaint authentic log cabin allows for the peaceful tranquility of the mountains or a home base for a variety of activities both local and nearby. A spacious family room with two leather sofas and a television with DVD player, two bedrooms each with a double bed, and one full bath make this cabin a perfect getaway for up to four guests. There is a fully equipped kitchen including microwave, coffee maker, toaster oven, and dishwasher. The cabin has both central heating and air conditioning for multi-season rental opportunities. An outdoor stone grill and picnic table are located on a patio in back of the cabin. A short pathway leads to stone steps taking you to the river’s edge for swimming, fishing or just dipping your toes. Our property does not have direct boat access, but there is a public boat landing less than 2 miles away.

• Minimum three night requirement for following holiday weekends: Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years
• Week rentals can not be Saturday to Saturday
• Check-in: Anytime after 3 pm Check-out – By 11 am
Based upon availability, early and/or late check out can be arranged.
• Firewood provided from Sept 1 to April 1 for one fire per night of your stay
• DOG FRIENDLY ONLY- $75.00/dog/stay. Additional details will be provided upon reservation: >• Unless previously confirmed, rates are subject to change without notice
* Please note, outside camping is not allowed without written approval from the property manager
* Maximum number of overnight guests on the property is 4 people due to county health department regulations.

Our cabin is in the woods and you may encounter many types of wildlife and insects during your visit. We will not refund any payment due to these encounters outside or inside the cabin. Our cabin is serviced on a regular basis by an exterminator. If you are uncomfortable with this situation and choose to cancel your reservation upon the receipt of this notice, a full refund will be made.

Cliffside cabin is located on a gated private gravel driveway which is 7 miles from Front Royal, VA. The cabin is three miles from the Shenandoah State Park and five miles from the northern entrance of the Skyline Drive of the Shenandoah National Park. Many of our guests enjoy local hiking, fishing, canoeing, and mountain biking and wine tasting at one of the thirty wineries within 30 miles of the cabin.

Great cabin with a fantastic view and nice amenities, just beware that the thermostat requires you to download an app and create an account to change the temperature or turn the system on.

This cottage was so cute and had everything we needed. It was a perfect location for hiking in Cape Breton National Park, and there were fu restaurants nearby. Their ethos for encouraging local artists and products and heritage is so evident in their cafe and gift shop that are right next door. This place is a delightful gem, and their communication was fantastic.

Had an amazing weekend tubing on the Shenandoah. The view and river access was incredible and we loved the cool cliff stairs. John was super helpful and communicative which we greatly appreciated. The location was great for getting to town and for visiting the state park. The porch was to die for. We will definitely be visiting again.

Fantastic spot for a solo traveler or a couple. Amazing views of the Shenandoah River and Front Royal is just a few minutes down the road for a really nice small town experience. This cabin was fantastic.

Our family really enjoyed our time at the cabin. Pluses: lots of board games, great views, near fishing and hiking. Everything we needed was available. We also enjoyed making smores. From the cabin, saw bald eagles, birds of prey, bats and tons of lightening bugs! I would recommend this to my friends.

We love coming here! Probably our 5th time. I have to say that this is one of the most responsive hosts ever. We had an issue with the AC. Within 2 hours he had someone there to fix it. Whenever we have had a question, he always responds promptly. Highly recommend if you are looking g for a peaceful getaway. Close to so many things to do as well!

We had a wonderful stay at this log cabin on the Shenandoah River. It was the perfect place to relax and unwind, with incredible views from the back porch. Whether enjoying a morning coffee or watching the sunset, the scenery was absolutely beautiful.The cabin was clean, comfortable, and very well equipped with everything we needed for our stay. It truly felt like a home away from home.The owner was friendly, responsive, and a pleasure to communicate with. They shared great information about the property and the surrounding area, which made our visit even more enjoyable.The location was ideal—peaceful and secluded, yet just an easy drive to both Front Royal and Shenandoah National Park, making it a great base for hiking, sightseeing, and exploring the region.We would happily stay here again and highly recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway with beautiful river views and easy access to some of Virginia's best outdoor destinations.

Our stay at Cliffside Cabin was simply wonderful! We spent hours just sitting on the back porch rockers overlooking the river with our dogs. The cabin is spotless, the beds super comfortable, The cabin has plenty of hot water, a kitchen full of amenities, and lots of books, games, and puzzles so you can turn off your electronics and just enjoy living. If you do want to get online, the wifi signal is strong and you can watch movies and shows on the big tv. The view from the back bedroom is spectacular to wake up to. Sitting on the back porch we were visited by hummingbirds and butterflies, and a bald eagle made an appearance. We didn't use the fireplace in the cabin or the one in the front yard, but look forward to going back when the weather is colder. For a warm day, the cabin was kept nice and cool the central air. John, the owner, is super helpful and responsive. Front Royal is a beautiful little town. We had burgers at Spelunkers, which we highly recommend, and saw lots of lovey shops and restaurants that we look forward to trying out next time. If you want to get away from your hectic everyday life, this is the perfect place to go!

Beautiful authentic looking cabin. States it has central air but place did not go below 76 our entire stay. Broken fan on the front porch with the blades laying on a table. Ceiling fan in bedroom without the river view did not work. And two areas of the flooring with nails sticking up by the bathroom and kitchen need to be fixed. The location is Beautiful with close access to town and many things to do but the cabin needs updating for what you spend for a night.

Why they chose this property

Location, location, Location- Our cabin is the perfect home base for all your outdoor activities and adventures in the Shenandoah Valley. Our log cabin is secluded and built on a 100 foot cliff above the Shenandoah River with 35 acres of privacy. The Shenandoah River State Park and the Skyline Drive northern entrance are both only a ten minutes drive. The newly built Canopy Tours zip line was just open in the summer of 2014 which takes over 3 hour to complete. If you’re more interested in water activities; swimming, fishing or boating is all just a walk or 10 minute ride. There are three boating companies in the area which offer numerous options for floating down the river. Did someone say wine tasting? There are over 30 wineries within 30 minutes of our cabin with new ones opening every year. We hope you will choose our home base for a memorable getaway. The river can be accessed by walking, but does not have river access for launching boats due to the path to the river.
