About this property

Built by the Moors, restored respecting its heritage with WIFI, SMART TV & SPA

Escape to Casa Aloe, a haven nestled within minutes of the majestic Sierra Nevada National Park.
Experience breathtaking uninterrupted valley views, stretching to the coast.
The house offers seclusion, privacy and peace, yet with the authentic Andalusian village of Atalbeitar just steps away, very well preserved, and an experience! it's as if you returned to the moorish times…very romantic. It also has ancient donkey lanes that make it a car-free village, mysterious but safe to explore and a paradise for children's games.

THE HOUSE:
The house has been recently restored using traditional materials in original ways, with beauty and comfort in mind.
Chestnut beams, bedrock corners and many unique touches give an original charm.
We, Tom and Carmen ( the owners) are both artists, and have delighted every winter since 2004 restoring this jewel with all our love and care, and so we are very happy when people come to enjoy our work.

THINGS TO DO:

Hike breathtaking trails, discover hidden gems, and reconnect with nature's beauty.

Immerse in tranquility: Unwind in the luxurious steam room, after exploring the National Park's wonders.

Relax and rejuvenate: Enjoy al fresco dining with the beautiful valley beneath you, or enjoy barbecues in the terrace under the stars, so bright there’s an observatory 20 min. from the house, if you are interested on tour of the stars.


Perhaps cozy up by the fire and unwind with a book. (There’s a Smart Tv with Netflix also)

Or swim in the lovely pool by the garden patio, shady and plant-filled to escape the heat of the midday summer sun. In the colder months the pool is heated, wonderful after a good long walk.
It has a hydro-massage and swimming against the current system.

In the evenings explore the variety of restaurants and bars in our valley, where the tradition is to give a free Tapa with every drink, and where often you can catch an evening of local music.
The charming villages of Ferreirola, Mecina, Fondales, Portugos, Pitres and Busquistar are all within a scenic walk of 15/20 minutes. Ask us about their Fiesta dates if interested, Atalbeitar’s is the second weekend of August.

This place is a heaven for lovers of nature, walkers and artists.

Three generations of my family had the best holiday in Casa Aloe. The house is beautiful, homely and one of a kind. It is clean, spacious, comfortable and well equipped. We enjoyed family meals around the table on the terrace and, on the one night it rained, around the dining table in the house. It suited the whole range of our ages and the pool was an absolute hit. My favourite memory of the trip was hearing the excited calls from my grandchildren when they discovered the bedroom behind the mirror, they loved it. The whole process was easy from start to finish. I highly recommend this beautiful house!

Casita de cuento perdida en las montañas

Casita de cuento perdida en las montañas, así es como la llama mi niña de 3 años. De verdad, el sito es toda una experiencia que hay que vivir, está Inmaculadamente limpo gracias a Matilde y a su equipo, y es una preciosidad, parece la casa de Alicia en el país de las maravillas. Solo un apunte, no tiene aire acondicionado como pone en el anuncio, aunque sí tiene ventiladores en todos los cuartos y es suficiente. Volveremos!

CASA CON ENCANTO MAL MANTENIMIENTO

La casa tiene mucho encanto, igual que Atalbeitar, con vistas bonitas y la piscina y el baño turco son originales. El lugar es muy bonito. Si vas a estar por la zona es ideal, pero si no, téngase en cuenta que la carretera de acceso es la típica de montaña y hay movimiento; la gente no siempre respeta los carriles (trayecto de más de media hora hasta salir de la peor parte de la carretera y de una hora hasta llegar a la A-44). Sin embargo, consideramos que es algo cara para el estado en el que está (y eso que los propietarios fueron muy amables y excepcionalmente nos rebajaron el precio). El mobiliario deja mucho que desear en algunas estancias (en una de las habitaciones te ibas hacia el centro de la cama y en otra las almohadas eran de muy baja calidad y considero el descanso algo vital para unas vacaciones), uno de los fogones de la cocina el más grande no funcionaba (en una casa para grupos tampoco nos parece muy pertinente) y en los salones al golpear los asientos salía polvo (conocemos el campo y no se puede tener una casa en perfecto estado, pero eso era cúmulo de bastante tiempo), además de que las mosquiteras que cubren las camas no estaban en el mejor estado y otros detalles. Por otra parte, como es lógico en el campo hay insectos, pero algunos de nosotros, además de volver con las picaduras normales de mosquito, volvimos con otras diferentes (tres de los cuatro afectados tuvimos que acudir al médico por la reacción alérgica, confirmándonos que no parecían picaduras de mosquito por la reacción y la distribución). Yo no tuve de estas picaduras en toda la semana hasta la última noche que estuve en uno de los salones en el que no había estado y el picor me ha durado dos semanas. Con un buen mantenimiento sería un lugar recomendable.

Formidable

Nous avons passé une excellente semaine dans cette maison des Alpujarras. Le site est magnifique, les randonnées sont accessibles depuis le gîte (GR) pour visiter les villages blancs. Ravitaillement facile et agréable à proximité. La maison est décorée avec beaucoup de soin et malgré son aspect rustique tout fonctionne parfaitement et est très confortable. Seuls petits bémols qui ne nous ont pas dérangé mais qu'il faut peut-être signaler : l'eau du robinet est ferrugineuse et a un goût prononcé qui surprend et la maison présente de nombreuses marches entre les différentes pièces ce qui pourrait être inconvénient avec de très jeunes enfants ou des personnes ayant du mal à se déplacer. Pour nous (2 familles avec grands enfants) cela n'a fait qu'ajouter à son charme. Bref, un bonheur.

The most exciting house in the Alpujarras

The house is very well located in Atalbeitar,a little village in the middle of the Alpujarras.It's an authentique old village house with a lot's of charm and a large facing south terrace without opposie.It's a pleasure to eat on the terrace with a marvelous panoramic lanscape. A lot of hikings are avaible from the house without need to take the car. It was really nice holidays !
