Rose Cottage. What a find!
Rose Cottage is homely, functional, walking distance to town along the River Ness and with proximity to AMAZING locations whether you feel like a short day out or a longer drive. It's host Gregor is friendly, down to earth and a great tour guide if you like him to be.

Perfect Home Base
Loved our stay at Gregor’s. Easy walk to downtown Inverness, quiet street with permit parking (which Gregor provided for us). Right across from an Aldi so we could stock up on snacks and drinks. Plenty of space downstairs to spread out and bedrooms worked for our needs - one couple in the queen, one single person in the double bed and another couple taking the room with twin beds. Like camp! :) French press in kitchen was nice for coffee and Gregor even left us a few food items to get us going (eggs, bacon, bread, milk, butter). So so kind. Thank you for everything!

Fantastic host
The location is an easy walk to restaurants, shops, and grocery stores. Gregor goes above and beyond for his guests. Having seen his bike tours, I asked him about doing a different tour, which he helped research and arrange. When things out of our control went wrong, he did everything he could to help us work through it and provided an excellent day’s adventure! The cottage has plenty of charm, especially the back yard! Highly recommend this cottage or any of Gregor’s.

Great location nice size
We’ve never been greeted by an owner before. Gregor was the funniest by far. Our first meeting with a true Scot. He was so easy to communicate with and always made us laugh. Being our first time in Scotland there’s always adjustments how things are done. His place was super clean and even put food in fridge. Parking on street was never a challenge. Loved the backyard and glass enclosed breakfast nook.

My name is Gregor and grew up in the area before moving to Edinburgh and beyond for study and work. I returned to the area in 2010 after tiring of city life. I normally work in health and safety or lifting operations but have previously worked in finance, education among others.

Why they chose this property

I love this house because I have transformed it over the last couple of years, which has been a lot of work but also a labour of love. I love its country feel, its country style kitchen looking out onto the mature garden, the living room with its wood burner for relaxing in front of the fire whilst watching movies or simply enjoying a good book and glass of wine. I may be biased and undoubtedly it has been decorated to my tastes, but it has been decorated with comfort in mind, from the sofa, to the beds, to the fire, to the views from the kitchen window to the garden. Even the walk into town is beautiful along the River Ness over the bridge past the Cathedral to the town centre all in under 5 mins.

I love the garden and the birds which are attracted into it.

You can also access the main arterial road routes from here and be outside Inverness on route into the Highlands in under 5 mins. The banks of Loch Ness can be reached in 10 mins by car, the Spa town of Strathpeffer in 20 mins or some of the UK's best golf courses in 30 mins. Some of the Championship courses designed by Tom Morris and James Braid include Royal Dornoch, Brora, Tain, Castle Stuart, Nairn, Nairn Dunbar and Moray - not a bad collection of courses within easy reach for the golfer.

Similarly many of the famous tourist attractions are within easy drive with the Caledonian Canal a mere 5 minute walk away as are most bars and restaurants.

What makes this property unique

The Cottage is beautiful with an enclosed back garden for your pets and for relaxing, BBQing and enjoying the wildlife. E mountain bike and road bike hire with personal driver to drop off, pick and guide routes on request or use for tours in 9 seater vehicle for epic day trips to see the Harry Potter Train going over Glenfinnan viaduct before being taken to Fort William to catch train to do the actual journey to Mallaig (an epic day out). Perfect for larger groups with two cottages next door.
